Today sucked. Like... actually sucked. Let me tell you it like it was...

Kay was so excited for today. This was a day she had been looking forward to for literally weeks. Kyle had finally found a day he could come over. And nothing anyone could do was going to ruin this day for her. She had planned it outm literally perfectly.

As she was daydreaming she got a text.

Kyle: ok I can come but not for long

Kay: how long?

Kyle: 1 hr

Kay felt her breath just release into the air in one big exhale. One hour was not very long, but she'd do what she could with it.

Kyle: Im sorry

Kay: don't be

Kay: but y?

Kyle: don't worry about it

Kyle: at least I can be there for a bit

Kay: yeah

Kyle: you crying?

Kay: why would I be crying?

The second she typed those words it was like she had been cursed. Her phone screen suddenly got blurry in her eyes and one solid tear fell, magnifying one word. Crying. It was like a volcano was bubbling inside her and fighting to get loose. To erupt.

Kay: I'm crying

Kyle: Nooooooo don't cry don't cry it'll be ok

Kyle: please don't cry I'm so sorry

Kay: don't be

Kay: it's okay

Kay: my mom said she isn't doing that. So you aren't coming over at all.

Her mom had not really said that. It was a lie. But there were two reasons she said it. One, she was pretty sure it would hold true if she asked her mom. Two, her heart had suddenly turned cold against him. She did not care anymore.

Kyle: I'm sorry

Kyle: I'm really sorry

Kay: Don't worry about it

Then, she put her phone on do not disturb. She took her earbuds out of her pocket. She plugged them in. She stuffed them in her ears. She turned her music on and up all the way. Then, she raced upstairs to her bedroom and slammed the door shut behind her. It closed with a bang. She threw herself into bed. Then, she remembered she had to tell her parents

Kay: he had to cancel

Dad: Im so sorry

And right then, was when it finally hit. Right then it was over. She started to cry like she hadn't cried in years. When she had no tears left to cry, she fell asleep.
