3. Cat & Mouse chase

Brad's POV 🎼🎸🎭

There was nothing we could do at the hospital and it made me feel guilty that every text from Joe was tempting me to get out of here. Tris was on his phone playing piano tiles while James and Connor were goofing around Proposing in a hospital room... I think? anyway while they were having some form of fun I was seated staring at Cam- this girl's face and she wouldn't move.  Period. Not even an inch! okay, an inch is too much; Not even a millie meter! 

And for some odd reason, I couldn't stand sitting here. Even though coming here was practically MY idea! It truly puzzled me why I was sitting here watching this girl dead beside me when the very thought of her dying at our concert terrified ME?!

I truly am weird.

The deaf nurse from before came in clutching onto her red writing pad. She looked at me sympathetically. "She hasn't moved since I left has she?" Oh, she's the cup half empty kinda person.

"No." I said scratching the back of my neck and sighing. "She hasn't"

"I know this is Hard for you but, I'm afraid she's now a comatose patient." The nurse said looking me directly in the eye.   "Yeah I guess she is." I kinda knew this would happen. I didn't know how but I guess it was a sort of gut instinct? 

"Wow, you took that in well. most people either threaten to kill me, fire me or sue the hospital. You know cuz it's not British." she said looking at everyone in the room. James was standing on the other side of The girl's bed. 

"Well, you just told me that she's in a coma after she fell down from the fucking sky! it's not that hard to believe."  Connor slightly nudged me but the nurse didn't take it the wrong way, probably because she's deaf.

"I understand and empathize but I need to know if your spending the night? or staying for some more time?" All heads turned towards me.

"I think we'll be leaving soon. Maybe in a few minutes." I turned towards the others who nodded their heads. "Fine by me. I'll let you say your goodbyes." and she turned away and walked out. leaving us alone with the comatose girl.

"I can't believe they make her wear that weird blue gown thing she might wake up if you put her in actual clothes!" Con sad looking over at her.

"yeah." said all three of us. 

"Bye Cameron. Hope you start moving and prove everyone wrong by waking up!" James said in her ears loud enough for all of us to hear and then placed a kiss on her forehead. "Yeah. Goodbye Cam hope you get better soon." Con said from behind Tris.

"I guess  I speak for everyone when I say Cam, you have to wake up, maybe we'll sing the song to you tomorrow, but until then we have to be off. Brad sure cares about you. Wake up for him will ya? he's truly miserable." Tris said trying to lighten up the mood by flashing me a goofy smile.  

I gave a weak yeah and moved towards the exit. 

I second I reached for the door the deaf nurse showed up. Creeping me out completely. She flashed James a smile over my head and then waited for us all to exit before turning to me.

"So Brad. Cameron was your girlfriend correct?" The nurse asked. I didn't want this to turn into anything worse so I just nodded my head.

"We don't have any medical references to turn to could you tell me a bit about her like her full name her address her parents' names? stuff like that it would really help in getting her files." She rambled.

I didn't know If I should just tell the truth or continue to lie. I was in it so deep I don't think a truth would save me now.

"Well her name is Cameron Regan I believe But I could be wrong we weren't the obsessed with each other kind of couple. besides, it's been what?... 5 or 6 years! I don't remember her mentioning any allergies or mental health issues.  But she wasn't an open book." I said trying to cover up my tracks by making nothing solid.

"Her address?"

"Well when I dated her she lived in Birmingham but she was the new kid and her parents were the moving type that's actually why we broke up. She had to move house again." I applauded myself for that answer.

"Nothing seems firm enough for me to note down on official documents..." The nurse murmured to herself. 

"Wait so you guys have absolutely no information about her? No ID's in her wallet? no passport? no, i don't know mobile phone?" Connor said freaking out a tiny bit. 

"No. But we do have her phone but it's locked with a passcode. The hospital cannot by any means violate someone's privacy and hacking into someone's phone is exactly that."

"so is changing their clothes but you seem to do that." Tris shot back slightly agitated. 

"The hospital can't. end of argument but that doesn't mean that you can't..." she said suggestively. "I can bring you back the phone but only if you sign a document where you promise to give all valuable information to the hospital after hacking it. Is that clear?"

"Sure" we all agreed. 

"I'll go get it you guys can wait in the room." She said before sashaying off. 

"Lana's got an attitude.." Tris said softly i didn't know if he was directing that at someone or just taking notes. "Her name's Lana?" I asked. everyone stared at me like I'd grown three heads.

"Ya!" they exclaimed. "It's written on her uniform, on top of her nurse hat and even on her wrist tag! how could you not notice?" James asked worried that I might have lost my eyesight.

"I don't know. probably all this Cam drama..." they all looked at me sympathetically Tris gave me a side hug.

"Hey. everything's gonna be okay." he said trying to console me when in actuality I didn't need consoling I didn't need their sympathy. What I needed was a big slap across my face for starting this insane lie. I could be putting her in grave danger... what if she was allergic to the medicine they inject in her and she ends up getting hives! it would be my fault... What if her parents have no idea about her whereabouts and their an amber alert out for her but no one would think it's her because I told everyone that her name was Cameron! Why am I so dumb? If I had just left her alone maybe the right people would come for her.... 

In the end of the day everything was always my fault.
