=Rise Of The Guardians=
-SPOILER ALERT! IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE, WATCH IT! X3-
OKAY
SO
I like rewatching movies.
Especially if they are really good ones XD
So, for the longest of times, I remember watching the movie 'Rise of The Guardians' when I was younger and absolutely loving the movie.
So, I searched it up and watched it.
You
have
no
idea
how
much
I
squealed.
OKAY, THIS IS GOING INTO RANT TERRITORY AND GHIRIHOGIEAIJEAHJIAETH
Rise of the Guardians is basically a tale of the main character, Jack Frost which goes with other believed in people (Santa, Tooth fairy, easter bunny, sand man, etc.). The characters themselves are overall fun to watch and the message at the end is very heart-warming.
I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end, loving all the characters (sandman and mitch (? think that is his name, Santa kept calling him Mitch with a heavy russian accent so I kept laughing because it sounded like he was saying a word which rhymed with it, aka a no-no word XD) are personally my favorites lol)
I honestly can see why I enjoyed the movie as a kid, especially for a 2012 movie x3. THe story and character struggle was understandable and the villain was actually rather likable, from being adaptable to not being over-cocky.
I like ranting about movies and I'm just going to do that, so if you want to hear me basically sputter overexcited nonsense from the rush the movie gave me near midnight, then keep reading XD.
-CHARACTERS-
The characters, despite the many stereo-types they have given them, are actually rather refreshing.
From the color schemes and designs to their zany personalities, I saw them as actual people than fairy tales.
Picture (which was obviously not owned by me XD):
(please don't mind the obvious trailer posters lol)
From left to right (their names said in the movie .w.):
Jack (Jack Frost), North (SANTA--), Bunnymund (his actual name?) (Easter Bunny), Tooth (Tooth Fairy, Sandy (lol) (Sand Man), aaaaand some elves .w.
Also, just found out that it was not mitch (must have misheard .w.), it was PITCH, as in PITCH black.
Literally could have gone with any other animal but just had to pick horses .w.
He's coming for you like a dark horse---
OKAY I'LL STOP-
ANYWAYS,
I just appreciated the fact that they gave Santa a russian (?) accent and Bunny an australian accent. It just added a nice touch to their characters XD
Pitch's reasons for being a 'bad guy' are actually similar to Gaster's, which is actually funny because if you think about it, there are a lot of connections (Shadows, Darkness, being forgotten, etc.).
Pitch has this sort of nature which is both naive and understanding?
He understands how to kill the source of all hope and actually is a skilled planner when it comes to when he should attack and knows his own limits. However, the naive part comes from his ambitions, where he wants everyone to be afraid. He doesn't care how he will be known, whether it be fear or joy, he just wants to EXIST.
It seems logical, but the thing with fear is that it could drive people away and could possible kill.
Also, Pitch's abilities and the way he talks to people shows his personality outstandingly well, how he wants to be known, but also the way he wants to be known; unpleasant (His tone sounds as if he is looking down on everyone pitifully, as if they were lesser beings).
ANYWAYS, ENOUGH ABOUT PITCH (IT'S NOT LIKE I WAS REALLY INVESTED IN HIS CHARACTER OR ANYTHING--).
ABOUT THE OTHER CHARACTERS OWO.
The children were portrayed alright, but I don't like the fact of how they were easily persuaded. That kind of killed the kids for me until the end when the kids were shown having a brain of their own and weren't helpless.
Speaking of the ending (lol screw the order XD), THE ENDING. I loved it so much because it wasn't the villain's cockiness that it all went downhill. It's usually the hero killing/coaxing the villain into making a mistake and then the villain foolishly falling for it.
However, Pitch's downfall was done by a miscalculation. I mean, who would have thought the kids could have just took his nightmare horses and poofed them into flipping clouds and stuff? I sure didn't, which it surprised me how fast his hard work (which was implied by Pitch himself to take ages) crumbled to pieces.
The kids, which are fricking necromancers i guess, RESURRECTED THE SANDMAN WHICH BS DID WITH PITCH AS IF IT WERE NOTHING.
Out of all the guardians, the sandman was the most important because he was the one which actually encouraged the creativity of children and gave hope and happiness.
The fact that they made him humble and mute (which made for some pretty funny charades) really balanced out the SANS-ESC BS ATTACKS HE UNLEASHED.
I MEAN,
HE NEARLY BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF PITCH WHEN THEY FIRST FACED OFF.
IT WAS FUNNY TO WATCH.
But then he died .w.
aw.
BUT THEN HE CAME BACK THROUGH THE POWER OF PLOT CONVENIENCE! :D
North (santa ho ho ho), although with his jolly characterization, was really a hard-working and hardy leader of the gang. He was the living definition of 'stern on the outside and fuzzy on the inside' ;w;
He was really fun to watch and would honestly be a fun guy to be around (unless if you work for him and he keeps telling you to change the flipping color of something and you juST WANT TO THROW ALL THE 300 ROBOTS YOU ALREADY PAINTED BLUE, BECAUSE THEY AREN'T TOO FESTIVE ENOUGH AND AAAAAAAAAAAAH. #STOPTHEYETIABUSEPLEASE).
Bunny was also hilarious to watch. You just knew that every time he spoke was either to roast someone or was flat out funny. He had that fighter/defensive personality to him that everyone can enjoy XD.
And the kind-hearted dad-protecting nature when his outer shell melts, aaaaaaaaaaah x333.
It was adorable tbh.
Tooth is the living definition of PASSION. She can be a bit of a scatter-brain, but she always pulls through (despite her obsession with teeth and gums...and blood...eeeeh-). The design they gave her to was so beautiful and completely flipped the page on fairies with wands and nice dresses (SHE A BEAUTIFUL FLIPPING HUMMING-BIRD, I MEAN, COME ON). Overall, she is a sweet-heart and cares for her workers dearly as if they wee her family (unlike someone I know *COUGH*NORTH*COUGH*THOSEBLUEROBOTS*COUGH*).
And FINALLY, JACK FROST.
he was cool.
OKAY, I'M KIDDING.
His character was the most enjoyable (besides Pitch because I couldn't help but focus on him lol). I really dislike the whole amnesia thing with main characters, but when he went his WHOLE life without knowing was what got to me.
See, amnesia characters (so far that I have seen) usually spend their whole times trying to figure out who they are and what is this and what is that.
But the thing I like about amnesia characters is when they finally realize they were someone else before after they had ALREADY built their new identity. It's more interesting to see their inner conflict and whether or not they choose to keep the connections and identity they had now or the identity they had then.
This movie portrayed it well since the character, Jack, did forget the memories, but still had his fun-loving personality. Sure, he was a bit reckless like he was before, but he was also very caring and didn't want to see anyone else get hurt.
Also, I like the fact that they didn't show us ALL of his backstory (like his family and such), but they showed us enough to let the audience establish who he was as a person and then the most important part (how he fell in the ice and became Jack Frost). It allowed us, as the audience, to assume and to fill in the holes ourselves, which I enjoy doing.
Keeping with Jack Frost, his struggle with being forgotten and the way he reacted was frankly understandable.
First, came confusion. Then, frustration. Then, fear. It was all shown very nicely in the first clip of movie, with his facial expressions and how he just needed to get away.
The time skip is up for speculation, but it is hinted and referred that he probably met with some of the guardians and heard of them from the children.
Then, he came to accept (some what, more of on terms) that he would not be seen and made an effort to defy that fact. Even though he was frustrated, he never gave up on trying.
Also, when he was going to be admitted as a guardian, I like how he didn't straight away accept, thinking it was fame and fortune. He actually was cautious and reluctant before North talked to him on the matter more personally.
It isn't until 3/4 of the movie when people actually start seeing and believing in him and not until the end of the movie when he finally embraces his role as a guardian.
So, in conclusion to all this ranting, Rise of the Guardians is a must watch for the family, portraying a nice cast, real confliction, and a nice message: To believe and that children have power as well. To accept that there is bad things to come, but to realize that there is also good. Don't give up hope. Stand up for the people which would protect you.
That's all! x3
WHOO.
That felt good to get off my chest.
XD ALRIGHT, HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS LONG RANT WHICH WOULD BE AS LONG AS ONE OF MY LONGEST STORY CHAPTERS (OR EVEN LONGER).
BAAAAAAAI XDDDD
