Chapter 10 [More explanations, More Feelings, and More... EVERYTHING]
>> Edited 2020/07/23
Reader's POV
Now we sit at Erwin's office as I just explained what happened.
"Alright your turn to explain just what happened." I crossed my legs and laid back in my seat.
"Well, there was a frantic search for you when you disappeared that night, and then we had the female titan incident when you returned. The female titan was revealed to be Annie Leonhart."
"I see..." I figured as much, "I apologize for leaving unexpectedly but I feel it was needed in this timing." I said looking to the table in front of me as I thought.
I stood up, everyone's eyes following my actions. "Excuse me then, I'd like to get things sorted. Let's go, Cicero." I slowly made my way out of the room with Cicero following behind, the soft jingle of his outfit trailing behind.
♤oOOoOOo♤
I walked down the halls with Cicero behind me whistling, those who passed stared oddly at us-- I noticed and I'm sure Cicero did as well, who probably didn't care. Fair enough, he dressed up as a jester about ninety-nine percent of the time I see him.
"...When I next meet, that fair maid Nelly, I'll plunge my knife into her belly~." He sang making my silently chuckle at the reactions he got. Mostly shock and fear, some annoyance. Anyone who made a comment was met with blissful ignoring silence.
My how I love the reactions. "Cicero."
"Yes, Listener?" He looked to me.
"I hope you're ready." I told him and turned my head forward and proceeded to the room.
Opening the door I stepped into the nice room, I'd say it would be a bit bigger (not including the bathroom) than the room at the inn at Solitude.
"This is homely~," Cicero said looking around.
"Well I suppose I'm greatful for the room." I stated and sat at the bed, "You can take the bed Cicero, I'll sleep on there." I said pointing to a small couch.
He tilted his head, "Are you sure, Listener? I can sleep on there!"
I shook my head and removed my helm, "Nah, I'll be fine. I've slept in worse places before." I told him and he nodded in uncertainty.
"Very well, if it is what you wish. Dear Cicero lives to serve." I got up placing my helm on the bed side table. I went to the bathroom and looked at myself in he mirror.
My skin was a bit more pale than normal. I furrowed my brows and look out a potion of cure disease and drank it, I already felt it's magic working on me.
I cleaned myself up and went out the bathroom to see Cicero pacing.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I forgot to tend to the Night Mother before I left!" He said worriedly.
I rose a brow and smiled apoligeticly. "Ah, it won't be long, and we may be able to go back in a few days for a visit if we must. But I'm sure the Night Mother will be alright for now." I reassured him.
Cicero stared at me for a few moments before calming down. "Yes yes, you're right. Thank you for the reassurance Listener."
"It's okay. I was actually going to go check up on a few friends, would you like to come?" I asked the imperial male. He nodded-- his mood lighting up.
♤oOOoOOo♤
I entered the infirmary and my eyes go to Eren who was being looked over by Hanje.
I raised a brow, "Are you doing okay, Eren?" I asked.
He quickly looked to me and flashed a small smile. "Yeah, Hange just wanted to see if anything happened to my actual body." His eyes strayed to the ground as Hange started to write something in her note book.
"Alright Eren! You should be good to go!" She exclaimed standing up from her seat. She waved and walked by my and Cicero in the door way.
I turned my attention from Hange and back to Eren. "Where's Mikasa and Armin?"
"They're probably in their dorm rooms." Eren answered buttoning his shirt. I nodded.
"I'm gonna go check up on them."
"Okay," Eren replied seeming to be focused on the buttons. (A/n Edit: the old a/n that was here is hereby g o n e. I can't believe I write half the things I did)
I closed my eyes as I walked down the halls, "(Y/n)." I heard Levi's voice come from my left. I hummed to tell him I'm listening.
"Come to my office when you're done, and by yourself." His gaze went to Cicero for a moment before directed back to me.
》□ Meet Levi in his office.
"Yes Heichou." I rolled my eyes and then continued onwards, I notice Cicero glared at Levi for a moment before catching up with me.
"Who does he think he is...?!" Cicero mutters.
"Careful Cicero, he is considered humanity's strongest." I told the imperial, more joking than serious. But my words were taken more than jokingly, it wasn't as if I was lying.
"But wouldn't you be the strongest since you're here?" I chuckled at his reaction.
"I suppose, thank you anyway." I replied right before we got to the girls dorms. "Uhm I ask you to stay here since these are the girls dorms, and no Cicero-- there are no spiders that will eat your face off." I stated, Cicero nodded, his eyes trailing above to the corners of the hall.
"Yes, Listener!" He went and stood a bit away to the side of the door. I knocked then a short pause before Krista opened the door.
"(Y/n)!" The blonde beamed with a smile. Ymir walked up behind her and smiled as well.
"Hey where have you been?" Ymir asked jokingly punching my shoulder.
"Away for a bit, can I come in for a bit?" I asked and the two stepped to the side to let me walk in.
"Not that bad, though there's a bit of dust forming..." I mumbled.
Krista chuckled, "You sound like Captain Levi." She stated.
"No I don't..."
She shook her head, "You do when you talk about cleaning then." She giggled Ymir put an arm around Krista.
"Why'd you drop by?"
"Eh, for a small visit to check up on everyone..." My eyes drifted to Mikasa sitting on a bed, her back facing away from us. "Hey Mikasa!" Her head shot up and turned to me.
"Hi (Y/n)." She offered a tiny smile.
"I saw what you did, nice job." I told her as I sat beside her. Speaking lowly enough for the conversation to be between us.
"Thank you, I guess. You were gone for a while, how come?" She asked curiously.
"Ah that, well I managed to visit Skyrim my home demension." I answered.
"How?"
"Another portal."
Mikasa nodded slowly, processing before speaking again, "I see well did you see Eren? How is he?"
"Yeah I saw him he's doing okay. I told him I was gonna see you and Armin."
"Well last time I saw Armin he was alright... especially after all this. You can go now if you want to go see how him." She murmurs, her fingers toying with that precious red scarf of hers.
"Very well," I say stretching my arms out in front of me. "I have a feeling Cicero is getting impatient anyway."
"That guy you were with?" I nodded to answer her question.
"Tell everyone else I say hello if you see them." I flash her a grin. Everyone had an underlying tension, shaken from the recent events. Subtley, I hoped my presence would work to sooth that tension... just a little. (I ignored the nagging side that told me relaxing was a bad idea, it was right, of course. But it still sucked.)
"Sure." I waved her, Krista, and Ymir goodbye before leaving the dorms.
"Listener, are you done?" The red haired male asked. I eyed the dagger he played with. It'd be an interesting first impression to any other cadet who has yet to see him.
"You're not planning on using that on anyone here, are you?"
He blinks, innocently. The dagger disappears behind him a moment later. "I have no idea what you mean, dear Listener."
I huff, amused. "To the boys dorm then. I'll say hi to Armin then... to Levi's office..." I sigh and start heading towards the boys dormitory.
♤oOOoOOo♤
(A/N: adding these 2 paragraphs here because past-me did not write it in lmao, a lot of stuff is altered in this part)
Armin was indeed as shaken as I expected him to be, now that the adrenaline had worn off. I dwelled long enough to offer the guys some of the baked sweets I had stocked up on before wishing them goodbye.
The walk from the boy's dorm was far more quiet, other than the humming and sounds from out the windows. At the split-off point in the hallway, I turned to Cicero, resolute.
"Go ahead back to the room, I'm gonna go to Levi's office." My tone left no room for further argument. Cicero picked up on it immediately.
"If that's what you want, Listener." He said, "I shall wait for your return then." He gave a bow, the turn of a teasing smile on his face and made his way back to the room.
I walked towards Levi's office, which I eventually reached. I took a deep breath, and knocked.
"Name and business."
"Room service!" I said sarcasticly. "It's me, (Y/n)."
"Tch, come in." I pushed open the door once again walking into his office and closing the door behind me. I sat down on the chair in front of his table and removed my helmet.
"What did you want?" I asked casually. Glancing at the papers that littered his table.
"Tell me exactly who that red headed fool that is with you." He demanded slightly. I rose a brow.
"You show up with him following and believe we're supposed to trust him?" He states, and owch.
I scoff, "I trust him. As if I'd let someone untrustworthy travel with me." He frowns at my tone. It was spat rather bitterly, I didn't truly mean it wholeheartedly, but his words still hurt. Trying to move attention from those words, "He is no fool, indeed he fools around but I find it quite entertaining." I said making Levi's expression change. I continue, "He is Cicero, and he serves me. Is that all you wanted to ask?" That is not jealousy is it? I blinked, suppressing the devlish smile that so desperately wanted to grow on my face. Oh this is gonna be good.
I tried to push a few buttons. "What else did you need to ask of me?"
"He serves you?" Levi rose an eyebrow, "How come?"
"Oh? Did you want to know?" I grinned darkly, my aura changing sharply. "'Cause if I tell you, you will not see me the same way as now."
"Then tell me to get it over with," He said, narrowing his eyes.
"He serves me because I am the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood. A Group of assassins." I told him. There was pride in the title, a responsibility I was bestowed. However, the job of an assassin is far from an innocent life style.
"An assassin...?"
"Oh I'm sure you heard me right. I am an assassin, as well as thief and apart of the companions and-" I was cut off by Levi.
"Okay I get it, so that's how you got all that skill. I can see why you aren't keen on telling anyone it. People always have shit they don't tell others." He stands up. I was taken aback how accepting he was, was it really not that phasing? Damn, I thought... then decided, perhaps he was better than I thought. "Now, what's your relation to that jester."
My grin falters, almost becoming a smile. "My relationship with the jester? Close companions or friends... he is a loyal one," I said then instead of smiling I slowly smirked. "So~ why are you asking? Is it there any feeling behind your question?" I teased.
Levi scoffed, but alas nothing could get past me. "No, there's not, you may go now."
I hummed as I stood up and slowly walked to the door.
"You may tell youself that Levi, but the feelings we hold most of the time are the ones we have denied."
