my arm started to grow numb around her shoulders, my fingers tingling like a television searching for a signal.
i didn't want to move.
even if that meant my arm sleeping for 100 years that one princess did in that disney movie.
my nose twitched, and a soft tingle grew on my nose.
her chest slowly pushed against my side, the glorious sound of her breathing calming my thoughts.
i went to reach a hand into my pocket, a familiar touch striking my fingers.
the paper roses.
i shifted my shoulder, her breathing accelerating, and pulled out the three crumpled flowers.
"for you," i mumbled.
she slowly straightened up, and curiously took the flowers into the palm of her hands.
she analyzed them, the paper and pipe cleaner rubbing against her two fingers.
"i didn't have enough money to buy the flowers," i explained, my cheeks growing pink. "i'm really-"
"they're perfect cole. did you make them yourself?"
i nodded, hoping her dazzling ocean eyes would look away from my face.
she brought them near her nose and smelled them.
her nose scrunched up.
"what's that smell?"
my eyes widened and the lump in my throat grew.
"i'm teasing you," she said, pushing me back playfully.
i grinned. "Next time, no paper flowers. Next time, i want you to have every flower in the world."
