Chapter 1: The Oracle

Fifteen years. That’s how long she had been a member of the Rebellion. That’s how long she had been passing information to Fulcrum - whoever was holding the name.

She had spent ten of those years with no contact with anyone other than Fulcrum. Mostly the Fulcrum who’s real name was Ahsoka Tano, her wife. When the Rebellion had really become organized she had joined with the larger effort. She mainly stayed close with Ahsoka, however following the events of Malachor that hadn’t become possible.

After that, she stuck more closely with Rex. She took part in more and more missions, and eventually even helped in the Liberation of Lothal. However, after all of that, she left again.

For the last year it had just been her and her astromech droid Luna. Luna was black and purple, and due to some modifications from Grim she could also speak Galactic Basic along with Binary. She needed company and was less likely to endanger a droid than some other being.

They stayed on Grim’s ship for the most part. Her ship was a modified Jedi shuttle from The Clone Wars. It reminded her a lot of the life she had lost when the Empire rose to power. She didn’t keep too much on her ship, mostly it was the necessities, some tools, a way for her to train, and also plenty of plants.

The plants may have looked out of place on her ship, however it’s what really made it home for Grim. She had an interesting ability - or rather inability with her Force sensitivity. She could not feel the dark side - so when Order 66 had taken place all those years ago she had been left with an empty galaxy. These plants kept her connected to the Force. It was a comfort.

Currently she sat in meditation. Her lightsaber was hovering in front of her - and in pieces. She had decided to disassemble and reassemble the weapon again. Just to keep her focus on the Force. She had become more anxious these days - like she had around the end of the last war she had fought. It had been nineteen years since that ended, so she knew that soon the fate of the galaxy was about to be changed forever.

She had just reassembled her lightsaber when her ship’s comm went off. She opened her eyes and ran to the projection-table. She answered the call and the hologram of Bail Organa appeared in front of her. “Oracle,” he greeted.

“Organa,” she replied. “Why are you calling?”

“Recently plans for a superweapon called the Death Star were discovered. I am sending Leia to retrieve your old Master so he can also help with this.”

She stiffened. “Did you say the Death Star?” She asked, worry showing in her voice despite her best efforts.

“Yes. Do you recognize the name?” He inquired.

“More than you’d ever realize, my friend. Are you heading to Alderaan then?”

“I am currently on my way, is something wrong Master Jedi?”

It was still strange for her to be addressed that way all these years later. She had been officially knighted after the fall of the Republic and Jedi Order, but in many ways she still felt like a Padawan. “Very. I shall meet you there.” Without further explanation she ended the call.

She leaned back and let out a heavy sigh. “Luna, set a course for Alderaan,” she called to her droid. Heading there hours before its destruction was dangerous, but hopefully she would be fast enough.

She spent the journey pacing anxiously. She would have to evacuate the planet. How was she supposed to evacuate a whole planet in such a little amount of time? She likely couldn’t, but she could save as many lives as possible - at the very least she hoped so.

As they approached the planet Grim quickly changed from the comfortable Jedi Robes she had been wearing into her armor. Her armor was old - outdated by two decades by now - but it was still important to her. Jedi Armor. The armor she had seen Master Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker wear during The Clone Wars. It was purple - impossibly purple - and maybe it stood out, but she wanted it to. She wanted to be seen as a Jedi. The left pauldron was damaged - having gotten into a fight with Darth Vader shortly after joining the Rebellion, and while she could have had it repaired she thought it was fitting. The left side of her armor also held the symbol of the Jedi Order, so the damage showed that while yes, the Jedi are damaged, they’re still alive. It was a story in a way - and a reminder that the Empire hadn’t fully taken away the second family she had lost.

She arrived on Alderaan, and luckily she hadn’t spotted the Death Star. Or maybe it wasn’t luck - Obi-Wan had taught her there was no such thing, and over the years she had become inclined to agree with him. Bail and Breha were right there waiting on her, having expected her arrival. “Grim, I’m glad you’re here, but why?” Bail asked her.

Her expression was grave, “because you need to evacuate this entire planet now.”

“You couldn’t have shared this information over comms?”

“I couldn’t risk the Empire intercepting the message - you’re in enough danger as it is.”

“What kind of danger?” Breha asked.

“Leia isn’t going to be able to deliver her message to Master Kenobi in person - Vader is going to capture her and she won’t betray the Rebellion. Alderaan is going to become a target for the Death Star. The entire planet will be gone. I can’t stop that, so I hope we can evacuate as many people as possible to save as many lives as possible.”

Bail nodded. “We’ll start the process immediately, thank you for warning us.”

“Is there any way I can be of further assistance?”

Breha looked her in the eyes. “Save our daughter.”

“Of course, Your Majesty.” She replied with a bow. “May the Force be with you.”

“And with you, Master Kennet.”
