¤Chapter 2¤
Day 28, 2016
Well. Horseface is staying. Freckles is too. Armin told me his name was Marco. Speaking of Armin, I haven't seen him around as much. Too busy helping Dr.Physco with freckles. Ugh, that boy...I don't like him. He's too sweet. Nothing that pure is left in the world. I'm not jealous...nope. I don't like either of the newcomers, honestly. Horseface is just a self-absorbed prick that keeps to himself. But I heard he watched his baby sister and his mom die. That must've been tough, so I guess that justifies his actions.
Doesn't mean I have to like him.
Fence is still holding up. That's good, I guess. We've been seeing more Hollows though. Horseface is right: The virus appears to have gotten worse. Armin talked about Mr.Clean and how he was thinking an expedition outside with Dr.Physco. Armin wanted to go with them. I told him there's no way I'm letting him. But maybe I should go. I could get some useful information to chart for this journal, maybe I'll-
Armin skipped around, searching for Eren. He had been showing the newbies around and they've wandered off on their own now, and they haven't hung out for a couple days. And Eren seemed mad at him when he suggested going outside. He wasn't sure if it was just general anger or anger at the idea. He soon found his childhood friend leaning against a tree, scribbling away in his journal. Armin smiled to himself. He was glad his friend had followed up on his advice. "Hey Eren!" He smiled warmly, running up to him, his blue coat flying behind him. Eren instantly shut the journal. "Oh, hey Armin." He replied casually, showing the small book and his pen in his coat pocket. "How are the new kids fairing?"
"They're good. Marco has a limp, obviously, and he's kinda leaning on everything, but Dr.Zoe Hange-Ackerman said he'll heal quickly, since the shot was hastily placed and didn't puncture any bones. The other kids just...distant." Armin shrugged. Eren laughed. "Nicknamed them yet?" Armin asked tauntingly.
"Horseface and Freckles."
Armin laughed. Eren had insulting nicknames for everyone in the camp. Except him. "I want a nickname."
"They're all insulting. I can't seem to find anything bad about you."
Armin snorted. "Oh please."
"How about...smartass?" Eren asked. Armin laughed. "Eren, that's a compliment."
Eren shrugged and they began walking, passing Connie and Sasha, who were playing some sort of game in a tree. Or, as Eren called them, Potato Girl and Dumbass. "So, Levi decided we're going outside tomorrow." Armin said, making idle conversation.
"They're."
"Huh?"
"You said we're. As in you're going with them." Eren stated simply. "Which you're not."
"Eren-" Armin began, exasperated, only to be interrupted by him.
"No. You're not going. That's final." Eren narrowed his eyes.
Armin felt anger boiling in him. "Since when was that for you to decide?! You're not my parent! I can make my own decisions! Stop trying to dictate my life!" Armin yelled, face flushing red with anger.
Eren took a step back, obviously suprised. "Armin-I-I'm sorry. I just...want to protect you..." Eren hung his head. Armin scoffed. "Maybe I can protect myself, Jeager." He said coldly, turning and storming away angrily. What was wrong with Eren? Why wouldn't he just let him be? Armin sighed. This was going to be a long day.
