Moo's POV:
Everything is so dull, I've never seen any colour other than the various different shades of black and white, other than that, I've never seen any of the beautiful shades of the rainbow my friends described to me with happy expressions on their various faces, but, I simply nodded my head, acting as if I knew exactly what they were describing, which got somewhat boring after a while.
That reason really just adds to my hatred against public transport, even with my monochromatic vision, I can still see the way someone's eyes light up when their eyes lock onto their soulmates, it happened almost every day and each time id be the same reaction: The initial confusion as their world lights up, followed by the look of realization when they realized their soulmate was in front of them, then the desperate embrace as the bus starts cheering, other couples and even the single people cheering for them. as if the entire situation was worth celebrating, It's interesting.
I'm waiting for the bus, sitting under the small amount of shelter that shielded me from the harmful UV rays, even though the atmosphere was rather humid, the sun was still hitting down on us all, the bus was late, like it usually was, my bookbag was leaning against my legs as I sat patiently, knowing it'd only take two or three more minutes for the bus to finally make its long awaited arrival, so I just had to sit down, twiddle my thumbs and attempt to relax on the metal bus seat, doing the usual people watching, not in the creepy stalker way, just to cure my boredom.
I can see two guys sitting together, almost in height order, even though they have their backs turned to me, I know their guys because of their broad backs and buff arm muscles, but I can still somewhat see their appearances, the tallest one was wearing a jock jacket with the number '6' apparent on his back, just under it was the word "Wildcat" Most likely a nickname, or something along those lines, he had a backwards snapback hat that only added to the sporty vibe he gave off, his skin was slightly grey, which must have meant that his skin was lighter tha usual, but not too light, it probably suited him. I'd be able to tell properly if I could actually see colours.
The one sitting next to Wildcat, on his left, was tuning an acoustic guitar, every now and then he would peacefully strum it, he was wearing a dark grey jacket with two white stripes on his shoulder blades. I paused my music to listen in, trying to be as discrete as possible. i smile slightly as he moves from strumming to lightly playing the begin on a song, its as if the notes are installed into his mind, telling him which note to play and when to play them, his hand moves up and down to keep the perfect note, before he hits the wrong one and it sounds out of the beautiful tune he was effortlessly trying to keep up.
The second man places the guitar down so it's laying on the grass in front of him and Wildcat rubs his back softly, speaking some words I can't hear, most likely due to the fact that I was still under the bus shelter shack and they were in the sunlight, I sigh softly and turn my music back on, letting Troy Sivan's soft voice soothe my stressed out mind, thoughts of studying and eating decent food for once were shoved aside by his sweet voice, making me smile and close my eyes momentarily. I hum quietly and after a while the song switches, I look up and grab my bag when I notice the bus approaching my stop, I dig through my pocket and pull out 90c, enough to get me home, I'd probably have to walk to work but that's better than getting fired, anything is really.
I stand up and sling my bag over my shoulder, sticking a hand out for the driver to stop, which he does, I stand in front of the doors and wait for them to open, before walking over to him and asking for the 90c fare, I hand him the money and he counts it, before printing out a ticket as other high school teenagers tag on, taking a seat and laughing loud enough that I can hear them through my music, once I grab the ticket and smile at the driver thankfully, before walking down to one of the window seats, directly behind the back door.
Once I've sat down I prop my bag up beside me, not really in the mood for any unwanted social interaction that could possibly occur, I look around the bus once it starts up and driving off to its next stop, I can see Wildcat and his friend sitting down a behind the back doors, I look around for another group of people, there's a couple of old people in the disabled seats, as wellas a mother and her child, other than a few more kids sitting with their friends, the bus was empty yet still surprinsingly loud. I glance at my feet and tap them along with the beat of the soft music, suddenly feeling a wave of sadness overwash me, I swear quietly under my breath as I'm choking back tears, Hoping no-one sees.
I try to tell myself it's an instinctive action, suddenly crying is an effect from stress build up after all, but I'm angry at myself for not being able to control myself more, I shut my phone off and sigh softly.
Once my phones off I pull my headphones out of my ears and wrap them around my phone, stuffing it into the front pocket of my bag and leaning against the window, staring off into space as the bus stops and continues to drive whether it's for someone to get off or for a simple traffic light, I was close to my stop when the bus stops again. This time Wildcat high fives his friend, before standing up and grabbing onto the seat to steady himself as he walks to the exit in front of me, he notices my bag and looks up at me as he tags off and walks off the bus. That was our eyes met for a second as the bus started driving off again.
In the single moment our eyes meet, a large flash of white blinds me for a split second, I rub my eyes frantically and open them, my eyes widening as I see... Colours.
it takes me a moment before it clicks and I'm leaping off my seat grabbing my bag a scream rips it way out of my throat, "STOP THE BUS!" I please, internally knowing It'd take another ten minutes for the next bus to come, but if I got to even speak to the person that was supposed to complete my life, I could deal with it.
The bus driver slams on the breaks and I grip onto the standing handles for when the bus is packed, I gesture to the back door and the driver lets out a soft sigh, before opening the back door, I quickly tag off and jump out the bus, feeling someone tackle me into a hug.
I tense instinctively before I can read the word 'Wildcat' on a chest and I smile brightly, returning the hug happily, smiling proudly at the fact that I had finally found my soulmate, maybe I'll even start looking forward to getting the bus.
