Availar.

It used to be the most mystical place on Earth, but is now nothing more than a land of myth.

Once upon a time, things in Availar were as wonderful as wonderful could be. The land was peacefully run by the Narwhals - a league of superior aquatic beings with supernatural powers that made sure order remained despite the abundance of magic about.

However, there came a day where the magic began to fade and the Narwhals left to go find out what had happened to it. Instead of waiting for them to return, there were certain people in Availar that began to plan an uprising. They accused the Narwhals of having planned this secretly all along and that they had somehow hoarded all the magic for themselves. This group of people planned to find the magic for themselves and kill all the Narwhals when they returned.

However, that day never came. Just as the last bits of the uprising were planned, a curse was laid upon the land.

No one knows who exactly laid the curse, but it did have irreprovable consequences for those involved in the uprising. Those who wanted to wage war and hid evil intents in their hearts were punished. Them and their seed. For their animalistic behavior they became animals themselves. They became animals that would in turn be hunted. The only way to break free of their animal binds was to find someone who remained themselves despite the curse; those who were pure of heart. Those pure of heart would be those who had been faithfully waiting for the Narwhals to return.

If someone pure of heart took them in and found them worthy - when they turned twenty-four - they were allowed to break free from their curse. Their salvation would take them to the secret moon lake where they would bathe in the moonlit waters and be forgiven. Until that day, they had a code they had to obey that kept them in line.

However, if they couldn't find someone pure of heart that believed they could be redeemed though, they were left to perish in their animalistic bonds for eternity as punishment.

Availar - as I said - is nothing more than a place of myth and legend now; a tacky tourist destination on the way to far grander destinations.

The stories about the place aren't real...or are they?
