5: Albert, Albert, Albert.
Because Being Together Is Enough~ 5
"Hmm..." I sighed for hundredth time.
"Why aren't you saying something?" she asked, sadly.
It had been half an hour since I was talking, no, sighing very much while Emily was confused at my sudden change of behaviour.
When I didn't reply, she said, "I know you're upset with me. I am just...I'm sorry Anna. Actually Albert's-" I cut her off. Why was Albert so important? Albert, Albert, Albert.
"Albert what, Em? You left me. You could have atleast not offered me to give me a ride home. I could have gone with Serena. That would have been better than me left hanging there in the school parking lot and wondering if my best friend forgot me. And you left me with that arrogant jerk."
"I know...I know it's just-"
"It's just what? You didn't even talk about it once on the phone. You were busy talking about yourself, nothing else. It's either you or it's Albert." I spat.
Emily was quiet for a moment. And I felt that I had said too much.
"Albert's grandmother suddenly became very ill and his car was in the garage. You only tell me, what could I have done?" she whispered.
That was totally unexpected. I felt guilty. Maybe I hated Albert so much that I didn't see any good in him anymore. I had never felt more guilty in my life.
"I know I should have told you but my phone went dead and so I told Nathan to drop you home. He was the only one I could find. I'm sorry."
Colour drained from my face.
"I'm sorry, Em. I-"
"No, it's OK. If I was in your place I also would have felt the same."
Now I get why she is my bestfriend.
"You two are in the hospital right now?" My voice came out so small. I felt so small.
"Yes."
"Uh, take care of Albert." I spoke, ashamed.
"Hmm," she sighed, "and sorry for-"
"Don't." I cut in.
"Uh OK. Then, see you tomorrow?"
"Yeah."
Just when she was about to keep the phone I said, "Em?"
"Hmm?" she murmured.
"I love you."
"Not more than I love you." she said sweetly. I smiled and then the call disconnected.
I started playing Color Switch when I saw a notification. An imessage. Who was it? Well, I have no idea how he got my number.
Nathan.
From Nathan:
-Hey Jones. Don't forget you owe me.
I narrowed my eyes at the screen. I didn't owe him anything. I didn't reply. Again a beep.
-I know you are there on the other side.
What the hell?
Then, a third message.
-Aw! Don't be so flattered to reply. I am not that difficult to get ;)
Oh God. That wink was extremely annoying.
I started typing frantically. Then deleted. Then again typed. Ughh.
I ended up replying- ~.~
Well, I couldn't come up with anything else. To my relief, he didn't reply back. I made a mental note to ask him how the hell he managed to feed his number in my phone.
---
It was six in the evening and I didn't have a single work to do. I was just lying on my bed with my laptop on my stomach as I scrolled through my facebook. Then, an idea came to me. Why not search for the most handsome person I had ever seen? Mike. Yes, Mike Felton.
I eagerly typed the name and scrolled with enthusiasm. If I see those beautiful red hair, I would recognize him instantly. After two or three minutes, I finally found him. Yes, it was him. He looked like a Greek God. And his profile picture was worth drooling. He was wearing a tight, black t-shirt so that anyone can make out his abs. He wore a dark blue jeans and was smiling. I felt like a crazy stalker as I scrolled through his facebook page. But, nothing was there to stalk... The only information available was his name and his gender- male. What the hell? Can't he allow the public to see what a real handsome person is? Even his profile picture was locked. All I could do was look at that extremely beautiful person in that small box. But one thing that caught my attention was the quote he had put upon his cover picture.
Don't pray to God for an easy life. Pray for the strength to endure a hard one.
Well, that was a good one.
I couldn't stop my hands from clicking on Add Friend. Oh my god. My hands were all sweaty because of excitement and high nervousness. I touched my face and I felt my cold hands on my warm face.
But, what if he doesn't remember me? He might know many better girls than me. Why would he accept my friend request? As I was about to click on the cancel button my phone vibrated.
I looked that it was Serena calling me.
"Hello?" I answered the call.
"Hey Anna."
She seemed nervous.
"Hey, is something wrong?" I asked.
"Uh-huh." she muttered.
"Come on. Spit it out." I said, curiosity was killing me. Serena was never like this.
"You know...Alexander. He...-"
"He asked you out?" I jumped.
"What? NO."
"Okay," I giggled, "Continue."
"I don't know how to... he sent me a facebook request."
Just a facebook request? She was so nervous about a facebook request? It was sure she liked him.
"You're nervous because he sent you a facebook request?" I laughed.
You too were nervous when you sent him a facebook request.
Well, my conscience really knows how to stop me from laughing. Instead, I blushed, ashamed.
"Well..." Serena trailed off.
"You like him." I stated.
"No." she whispered timidly.
"Oh come on Serena. You never act like this. You're such a confident person but even today at lunch I bet you were feeling electric sparks when he sat next to you."
Believe me, I went through that feeling when he shook hands with me.
I could imagine Serena blushing on the other side.
"What do I do?"
She didn't deny which means it's sure that she likes him.
I mentally high-fived myself.
"Accept it." I said encouragingly.
"I can't... I don't even know him."
"Then don't."
"But I want to."
"Emily will make the final choice then."
What is it with best friends making choices for you?
"No. Don't tell her. She's friends with him."
"But she's-"
"I'll tell her when I am...you know sure about him."
"Alright, your highness."
She giggled.
"By the way one week to go."
Yeah, it was my eighteenth birthday next week.
"Yay!" I pretended to be happy.
I missed Adrian and I didn't want to celebrate without him. The problem was I didn't even know if he would be here by then. I wish he would come soon.
"Meet you at school then."
"Right. Bye."
I walked in my room's balcony to breathe some fresh air when I noticed someone. No, not Mike. It was Jane. Well, she knew where I lived. My dad and her mom were best friends. And look at their kids. We hate each other since the first day we met. We ended up pulling each other's hair the first day but that's another story.
I stared at her and was utterly confused why she was heading towards my house. She didn't have her mom with her either and they knew my dad had gone abroad for his office tour. Speaking of my dad, he hadn't called for a week. He must be busy. I ran downstairs and opened the door before she could ring the bell. My mom was tired and sleeping. I didn't want her sleep to be disturbed because of Jane.
I was ready to pick up a fight with her.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked, bitterly.
She gave me that evil smirk.
What was she upto?

A/N: Again a short chapter. Sorry, I had to study but I uploaded for you all (dramatically holds hand to her chest). And I left a cliffhanger and probably you will want to murder me. But believe me, don't. Till then, comment what you think evil Jane's here to do. Love you all.
Hugs,
Gargi.
