IV: Quattuor
Hi, hope you enjoy!

the drive of the three miles to the school went surprisingly fast. when the car motored through the iron entrance gate, jungkook was petrified. there were people everywhere his eyes darted to. it was basically a circus. he gulped upon seeing all of the students and parents bumbling around in the parking lot. his parents found a place to park their vehicle and then jungkook got out and trudged his way to the trunk. he rolled out his luggage and turned to find his parents eagerly waiting for him.
"let's go, kook-ah, i can't wait to see your new dorm!" his mother exclaimed as they began walking to his room.
when they found his room number, 68, they walked through the door frame and spotted a boy sitting on the bed. he was reading a book with his head bowed so jungkook couldn't really make out his features, but what he could recognize was the boy had very straight and very dark brunette hair. jungkook knocked on the wall next to the boy's bed so he would acknowledge his arrival.
the boy whipped up his head and smiled. "you must be jungkook!" he declared, getting up to shake the other's hand.
his parents smiled just as bright. "are you must be hoseok jung!" his mother laughed and accepted his handshake.
"it's so very nice to meet you all. especially you." hoseok grinned and nodded his head towards jungkook.
"it's nice to meet you too." jungkook replied with a chuckle.
jungkook had to admit, hoseok was quite the friendly type. it's not like jungkook wasn't either, he always accepted hugs and kisses from friends and family and always polite. hoseok was different. he was uber-friendly, if that makes sense. it looked like he was the type of person who made everyone he met feel loved and cared for. he was the type to spread happiness like it was a contagious strain of sickness. the smile he had was almost a blinding white. and the feeling he gave jungkook made the small dormitory they shared seem so comfortable and homey. he felt like he had known him for years, despite only for a few minutes. he felt like he could trust him. and that was a great thing, especially now as a new student.
jungkook's parents hugged him warmly and kissed his forehead. "now we'll say our goodbyes now and leave you to your studies. oh, and don't forget there is a welcoming ceremony in fifteen minutes." his father's deep voice rumbled in the room.
jungkook nodded, "okay, i won't. love you." the couple walked out of the room, leaving the two boys alone.
hoseok sat down on his bed with his legs crossed, "i am so happy and somewhat relieved i'm rooming with you this year. i saw the other students and they seemed kind of scary."
jungkook laughed at the last part, "how so?"
"well, they have piercings and spiky hair and i don't know if i should be scared for a reason or if i'm just being a wimp." he sagged his shoulders slightly.
jungkook chuckled, "don't be worried, we're roommates right?"
hoseok nodded.
"so, since we are, if anyone gives you trouble let me know. i have strong connections with friends and family, and they mean the world to me. so if anybody hurts them, i could basically beat the shit out of someone. i feel like you're going to be one of those strong connections." jungkook said bluntly.
"really? how do you know that?" hoseok questioned.
"i get vibes when i walk into a room or when i meet someone. i have the genetics from my mom. the vibe i'm getting from you is a very pleasant one." jungkook smiled.
"wow, that's good to know. so with my nervous attitude and constant worrying, i'm still pleasant?" hoseok pondered.
"you constantly worry too?" jungkook points out.
"yeah, i'm a bit of a nerd and in my previous school i had a few guys that would pick on me. that's why my parents moved me here. i would always worry if i would see them in the halls and if they would hurt me. with that expectation, i tried my hardest to avoid them. and i guess that trait never left me since." hoseok confessed.
jungkook hummed, "that's surprising to me."
"what is?" hoseok asks, scratching his arm absentmindedly.
"that you were bullied. i don't know i feel like i've known you so long and you're so nice to me. i really like that." jungkook answers.
"what's your full name?" hoseok asks.
"jungkook jeon." he says.
hoseok purses his lips into a tight line before widening his eyes and looking at him, "jungkook jeon?"
"..yeah." jungkook mumbles.
"are you the kid who spent his entire lunch in the janitor's closet because you accidentally stepped on someone's foot and didn't want to run into them again?" hoseok asks.
"yes! and wait you're a jung? you were the guy who had his nuts hit with a dodgeball in gym class, right?" jungkook raised his brow.
"that's me!" hoseok laughed.
"you were quite the talk back then, the other kids were making polls on the odds for if the doctors would have to amputate." jungkook chuckled deeply.
"oh my god, really?" hoseok shrieks.
"yeah, and here you are fully enabled!" jungkook laughs and waves a hand down to his pants. "we knew each other all along," hoseok marvels, grinning, "and now you're my dormmate!"
jungkook shrugs, "it's nice to get to know you now after all that time."
hoseok smiles, "same to you, jungkook."
jungkook glances over to the clock on the wall and sees that they have five minutes until the ceremony starts, "hey, we should probably get going, the principal will be speaking soon."
hoseok nods and gets up, "yeah, she's quite the strict type. have you seen her?"
"of course, i met her when my parents transferred my papers and stuff here. she is kind of that stereotypical mean old lady." jungkook giggles and walks out into the halls with hoseok.
"i can't agree more with you on that." hoseok grimaces as he thinks of the woman glaring at him.
they make their way into the gym and hoseok suddenly tightens a hand around jungkook's because goddamn is it packed. it's so loud and with the voices echoing off the walls, you can barely hear yourself think. they find a place to sit amongst all of the yelling and jabbering around them. the gym looks sparkling clean but the smells of past basketball games and sweaty socks makes jungkook's stomach churn slightly. finally, after so much ear-bursting jumbling, the principal makes her way into the gym. the room suddenly goes quiet. the lady is dressed quite plainly, grey pencil skirt with matching blazer. she has a black blouse underneath. she wears suede pumps matching to her attire. to top it all off with a pinned nametag, ms. rolstein. jungkook can tell that she's not a very characteristic person, from her thin lips always flat with a frown to the way her eyes never miss anyone's presence. she is the definition of frightening. ms. rolstein strides onto the stage and taps the mic.
"hello students! after refurbishing the school and disinfecting and cleaning every square inch of this building as well as restocking our library with fresh arrivals, we believe we are beyond prepared for another school-year. i can't believe how many new students are here to join us and i am very happy to see that we have no missing students on the first day of school." she smiles, quite unnaturally at that. the sight making jungkook force away his laugh by biting his lip.
"i have high expectations for all of you pupils to do very well and i hope you enjoy this year while it lasts. and with that i must say my farewells to you all since i have a meeting i must attend to quite shortly." she says, looking at her watch as if the world is doomed. she backs away from the podium and walks off into the car parking lot, everyone looking shocked except the staff. suddenly a man gets up from a chair on the stage.
he smiles, "hello i am coach dixon, so sorry to surprise you like that, she is a very busy woman. you are dismissed from classes today so all of you can get a chance to scour the campus and get accustomed to everything. i wish you the very best in your academics. thank you."
he walks down the stairs and goes into an office the sign above reading his name.
all of the students get up in a flurry, someone tripping over hoseok's shoe as he ran out. jungkook gets up after a while since everyone is rushing past them and he doesn't want to hurt anyone. he gives a hand out for hoseok to get up, his legs hurt and bruised after the amount of people stepping on his toes and kicking him accidentally while he sat.
hoseok accepts him gratefully, "god, these people must do track for a living."
jungkook chuckles, "i'm sorry about that, you looked in pain."
"it's fine, they're gone now." hoseok sighs contented at this.
"do you wanna walk around for a while or do you wanna go back to the dorm?" jungkook asks, unsure if hoseok needs ice or not.
"i'm fine, do you wanna meet my friends?" hoseok grins.
"sure, where are they?" jungkook confirms.
"they're at the foosball table in the cafeteria." hoseok replies.
"this place has a foosball table?" jungkook widens his eyes.
hoseok nods, "yeppers."
they start walking to the cafeteria which is a short walk from the gym.
"yeah, my friend has been going here for a few years and i'm really close with him." hoseok's eyes glimmer happily.
"what's his name?" jungkook questions, yawning.
"taehyung kim." hoseok glows at the mention of his name.
jungkook found this adorable, "he must really like this taehyung guy." he thought.
"he is so sweet. he always says how nice it is to spend time with me." hoseok sighs, blushing.
jungkook was right. hoseok is crushing big time.
"he sounds nice, hoseok, do you have any other friends?" jungkook tilts his head.
"yeah, one other. his name is jimin park." hoseok answers.
jungkook nods his head, "has he been here a long time too?"
"no, tae was the only one here at the time. jimin went to a different school a few blocks down the street."
"so, you guys would hang out everyday?" jungkook asks, grinning.
"almost everyday, with our different schedules it was a bit difficult, but we all got together in the end." hoseok smiled.
"that's nice." jungkook said as he saw the big bold letters "CAFETERIA" above double doors.
