CHAOS, THE BEGINNING.

❝Like cells develop and every breath you take, life is the most valuable thing you will ever have. It's the most important part of who you are and ever will be. A single life taken is an awful loss that you can never get back. Never give in to the pull of fate.❞ - Notes from the Book of Fate.

"HINDI AKO ang kalaban dito."
Saku narrowed his eyes, clenching his jaw tightly as a wave of disdain washed over him. His lips twisted into a scowl, punctuated by a series of scoffs that betrayed his irritation.
This only deepens his intrigue. Why was Thanatos so desperate for freedom?
What could possibly lie behind his desire, and what price would ultimately be paid for it all? What will the price be to all this?
Saku folded his arms, his eyebrows arching high in a curious expression as he regarded him.
"Well—"Just as he began to gather his thoughts, a sudden change fell over the moment. A chilling gust of wind swept through the air, as if a lurking danger was drawing near.
As they stood there, a sense of unease washed over them, as if an unseen watcher lingered just beyond their perception, patiently awaiting their next move. This feeling permeated their very being, resonating deep within their core.
It wasn't a chill that sent shivers down their spines; rather, it was something far more intimate, a connection that felt achingly personal.
From high above, a voice called out, "Aren't you just exceptionally skilled at this, Thanatos? Hanggang salita ka lang talaga."
Hindi siya puwedeng magkamali. Kabisado niya ang boses na 'yon. Kilala niya kung sino'ng nagsalita.
From the dense canopy above, a shadowy figure emerged, perching gracefully on a stout tree branch as if one with the very air that enveloped him.
With a deliberate motion, he pushed back his hood, unveiling his striking visage. Wisps of white hair cascaded down, but as dark magic swirled around him, it transformed, igniting his locks into a fiery crimson.
A deep, pulsating aura of black energy radiated from him, wrapping the space in a palpable sense of power and foreboding.
Those scornful eyes.
The same smile veiled in the shadows.
The identical face.
His face resembled a machine more than a human.
Saku's lips quivered as he gazed at him, a force tugging at his heart with every glance. Steeling himself, he clenched his fist, summoned his courage, and stepped forward, calling out, "Salvatore."
The boy's face had remained unchanged through the passage of time. Now, the small child who once sought refuge in his embrace stood before him—tall and distant, his gaze icy and unreadable. Tears were no longer shed; instead, a stark silence filled the space between them.
"What?" Salvatore's voice dripped with frost, a bitter edge curling through his words as he fixed his gaze on him. "Wala ka na bang ibang sasabihin, Kuya? Ni hindi mo ako tatanungin kung okay lang ako?"
He stood before him, his slanted eyes glinting with hues of gold and silver, while a crack of thunder highlighted the right side of his face.
Saku gazed at him with a gentle look, his brows furrowing in concern while a faint smile played on his lips. Before him stood a younger version of himself, stretching out his arms and pleading with an innocent urgency.
"Sandali lang, Kuya! H'wag naman ganito... h'wag mo akong iwan."
In the depths of his memories, a younger version of himself stretched out a hand, calling out for salvation. But just as quickly as it had come, the vision slipped away, leaving Salvatore surrounded by an oppressive darkness.
Alone in that room, the weight of solitude pressed down upon him, growing heavier with each passing moment.
Staying beside them only meant risking their safety. So he made the difficult decision to leave. He departed from his sister, Xandria, and from all of them.
We were merely test subjects, the results of various experiments.
"Do you despise me that much?" Saku asked quietly, his voice heavy with sorrow. "If that's all you crave, then just walk away and leave everyone else be." He lowered his head, his hands pressed against the cold floor, tears streaming down his cheeks and onto his glasses.
His shoulders trembled, burdened by an invisible weight that felt far too heavy to bear. "What did I do to deserve this, after finally being welcomed into this family?"
If you merely wanted him to appear foolish or insignificant so that he could fit into this family, he would accommodate that.
Her aunt chuckled softly, her hand covering her mouth as she narrowed her eyes playfully at him.
"You're quite the little monster," she teased, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I suppose I can put you to good use."
"I apologize for being recognized as the son of Madame. Hindi ko po gusto na kamuhian niyo," sabi niya habang lalo siyang yumuko.
Mula nang siya'y mapabilang sa pamilyang 'to, mayroong bumubulong sa kanya na may iba rito. Parang ang mga taong umampon sa kanya ay tila may ibang layunin — isang bagay na labis na hindi matanggap ng Tita niya.
"Napaka-ambisyoso mo!" sigaw nito habang lumapit at hinablot ang damit niya. "Ampon ka lang, bakit sa 'yo ibibigay ni Kuya ang lahat ng yaman niya? Ano na lang ang mangyayari sa kayamanan ko?"
Talaga bang ganito ang gusto niya? Na hindi siya maging bahagi ng pamilyang 'to? Nag-umpisang siyang magbago mula nang makita ang mga bagay na binibili ng ina ni Saku para sa kanya. He's got all the branded stuff—the PSP, the skateboard, his roller skates, even the headphones.
It's like he's drowning in their material stuff. But Saku can't shake this feeling; he knows deep down that this family is just using him.
No one wishes to feel this way. He constantly feels like an afterthought, as if he's always been shaped by past mistakes. It seems as though no one in the world loves him, and what hurts the most is that his aunt views him merely as a tool.
"Hindi ko po alam," sabi ni Saku na agad napatingin sa kanyang paa na may kadena, napakagat na lamang siya sa labi. Ganito na lang ba kalalim ang kanyang galit? Dahil ba 'to sa kayamanan? Does everything revolve around money now?
Hazel flashed a tight-lipped smile, her eyes blazing with fury as she emphatically gestured towards him, each pointed motion echoing the intensity of her anger. "Hindi mo nga alam, kasi kinuha mo 'yung nararapat sa 'kin!"\
What happened between us is no longer of any concern to you. You were nothing more than pawns in my grand design, Demigods!" She scanned the room, her laughter rising to a maniacal crescendo, embodying the very essence of a true villain.
"Baliw ka na," sabi ni Saku habang bahagyang tumayo. Nanginig ang buo niyang katawan, at bagamat ramdam niya ang bigat at panghihina, pinilit pa rin niyang itayo ang sarili.
Before him stood a figure cloaked in white, a person often referred to as a scientist in today's world. This person represented a lineage deeply rooted in history; the Allard clan had long been stewards of the hospital in Craigsville, a legacy that spanned generations. At least, that's what the news had reported.
Or at least, that's what they might have claimed. As you step into this place, you might have expected it to feel somewhat ordinary.
Yet, the scent of ethanol permeated the air, growing more intense with each step you took. It was as if the very atmosphere thickened, wrapping around you like a heavy blanket of shadows.
Yet, what lay concealed in this place was something that had been taken from the heights of Mount Olympus and the mystical expanse of the Twilight Vale.
Once, there were treasures seized, akin to the sacred relics once wielded by the gods and goddesses in their legendary confrontations.
A golden glow enveloped the surroundings, illuminating the ancient tomes whose letters shimmered with wisdom and mystery. Magic danced in the air, wrapping the space in an enchanting embrace.
Soft whispers floated around, echoing tales of fated encounters between legends of the past.
There was an unsettling undercurrent in what they were saying about this family, a shadow that you could sense even from a distance. It mirrored the way their aunt now carried herself, hinting at secrets and stories better left unspoken.
Everything aligns perfectly with his grand design. That location wasn't included in the plans—nowhere in the files, nor in the main hall. But the question lingers: why does it exist?
They called it Room 4B, a simple designation that belied the mysteries contained within.
Accessing it was straightforward; all you had to do was step into the elevator. That was the easy part—the gateway to whatever awaited behind that door.
The elevator held a secret: a cryptic code that, when unraveled, revealed the names of ancient deities—necessary knowledge for unlocking the door to the mysterious basement below.
Saku's eyebrows knitted together, a pang of urgency racing through his heart. A chill washed over him, deeper than ever, as if shadows of something haunted flickered at the edge of his vision. "You wanted to exploit us," he breathed, his voice barely a whisper. "Do the gods even know what you're doing to us?"
"You can't be serious," His voice trembled as he covered his mouth, his hands shaking more than they ever had before.
A chilling dread seeped into his very being.
"You wouldn't believe this place—it's like it's floating! The enchanted library drifts away on the breeze, and the pages rustle as if they're catching golden winds. Greek letters seem to float and shimmer around, as if they have a life of their own." he faltered, his voice trailing off as a wave of dread washed over him, eyes widening with the frightening truth he had just uncovered.
"However, the interesting thing is that no one can notice it unless you discover it." Saku's eyes shimmered with an otherworldly light, and the tattoos spiraling down his neck throbbed with a rhythmic pulse.
Dark magic enveloped him, its intensity growing stronger, wrapping him in an ominous embrace.
"Unless you're a demigod!" she teased, her lips curling into a playful smirk. Laughter erupted from her, a wild, infectious sound that was tinged with something darker in her gaze, making her eyes seem deeper than they ought to be.
"Wala kang gagawin sa kanila; kung may gusto kang gawin, unahin mo na ako! Back off from my siblings!" Saku exclaimed, his voice steady yet filled with intensity. His gaze remained fixed on her, the weight of his glare heavy enough to cut through the tension in the air.
His brows furrowed and arched dramatically, framing his eyes with a fierce determination, as if he viewed her as a looming threat.
That's how he consistently sacrificed for others, just as he always had. Despite his efforts—moving to a new home, meeting family, and connecting with friends—he never felt sufficient. He continued to dwell in the shadows.
All he understood was that he never belonged to anyone; no one wanted him. He felt like a mere tool, nothing more than an object. It was the terror that Hazel first revealed to him.
It simply never felt like home to him.
As Hazel spoke, her rich, cinnamon-brown hair danced in the brisk breeze that enveloped the area, a mischievous grin playing at the corners of her lips.
"And you," she cackled, her laughter echoing through the room, "are merely a stand-in for your brother!" A gleam of mischief danced in her eyes as she covered her mouth, casting a knowing glance at Salvatore. "No one ever escapes from here, and how foolish of Rino to bring that girl, all so I could finally possess this mirror!"
Mirror? The idea jolted through his mind like a bolt of lightning. What exactly was the nature of the power that Cienne possessed within that mysterious mirror? It was said to have traversed hidden realms, tearing down the veil that separated worlds and granting passage to wherever one might desire to go.
If that's the case, then maybe he can harness it. Perhaps he could venture there to rescue everyone.
They were both confined together, and during that time, they formed a strong bond. This connection is where the trouble begins.
A substitute? This thought echoed in Salvatore's mind as he turned his gaze toward his brother—the one he had always measured himself against. Deep down, he knew the truth: he was only here for one purpose—to serve as a pawn in a grand experiment that others had devised.
Once, he went by the name Morgan. A man shrouded in shadows, he made his way through a world that often turned its back on him.
Survival was his only creed, driving him to make choices that were far from good for his soul.
For a long time, he wandered alone, devoid of family or a sense of belonging, until fate led him to a new family that welcomed him with open arms.
At least, that was his belief.
Salvatore cast his eyes downward, as if an invisible burden had settled heavily upon him. His shoulders hunched in resignation, and a tremor coursed through his frame. "Kuya, kambal ba talaga tayo?"
He adjusted his glasses and averted his eyes, unwilling to meet Saku's gaze. The moment Hazel's words echoed in his mind, his insecurities surged to the forefront, chasing after him like shadows.
Salvatore felt as if he were trapped in a cage built by his own doubts, resenting the very feelings that held him captive and clouded his thoughts.
Saku hesitated, struggling to find the right words for his brother. He stole a glance, noting his brother's posture—shoulders squared, filling the space around him with an unspoken intensity.
In that moment, Saku could see the pain etched in his brother's features, a silent cry that tugged at his heart. It was clear that beneath that strong exterior, his brother was already carrying a heavy burden.
He realized that his brother was being compared. His actions speak louder than anything else.
Hazel ensured it. A homunculus—an entity crafted rather than born. She asserted that she brought him to life through alchemy, a product of magic.
And Saku allowed that to happen.
He forced a cheerful grin onto his face, setting his book aside as he ruffled his hair. With a purposeful stride, he approached the row of hangers, where a carefully organized display of clothes and towels awaited him.
As he reached for the towel, he draped it over Salvatore's head, gently wiping away the moisture from his hair, and let out a deep sigh. "Kambal tayo, kaya magkamukha tayo, di 'ba?"
He wasn't truthful.
He knelt before his brother, their gazes locking in a silent exchange. With a gentle tap on his shoulders, his hands trembled with an intensity that made it impossible for him to hold his twin's gaze. "Hindi kita pababayaan. Gagawin ko ang lahat upang maprotektahan ka."
Yet, he went ahead and did it anyway. He walked away.
The air grew dense, a palpable shroud, and an aura wrapped them, both fierce and proud. In proximity, the chill began to swell, a breath of winter held in silent spell.
Salvatore released a heavy sigh, his body tensing slightly as an unspoken tension settled in the air between them. He glanced at the other man, who wore an expression that suggested a myriad of thoughts lay just beneath the surface.
"It's fine if you'd forget me. Not that it bothers me," he said, though deep down, he knew that wasn't true.
Salvatore drew nearer to his brother, wrapping his arm around Saku's shoulder as he approached. His voice, typically warm and inviting, now carried an icy edge that sent a shiver through the air between them. "Kuya, seryoso, nagtitiwala ka ba talaga sa tatay ko?"
He nudged his brother gently, a sly grin spreading across his face as he began to clap slowly, the sound piercing the tense air. Wrapping his arms around him in a playful mockery, he leaned in closer. "Think about it," he said, his voice dripping with intrigue. "Thanatos teaming up with Hades? Who can say what they're brewing together? This war goes far beyond just Chaos."
With a cigarette perched between his lips, he wore his trademark scowl, a storm brewing in his eyes. As he fished for a lighter, the small flicker of flame ignited the tip of his cigarette, curling smoke into the air.
Turning slightly, he muttered, "Gusto mo naman siyang iligtas, di 'ba? Then quit trying to be a hero. Hindi 'yan bagay sa estilo mo. The only error you could make would be to place your trust in those logosmiths or even the gods."
He passed a note to Saku, featuring only initials that made his eyes widen. The letters read: L. A.V. No full name, just a cryptic message or maybe a codename. This was merely the start. Someone who understood the truth was expertly manipulating them all.
Saku tightly grasped the piece of paper, tucking it into his pocket as he brushed past Salvatore. His destination was clear: he was headed toward Thanatos, burdened by a whirlwind of questions swirling in his mind.
"Thanatos," Saku called out, his voice steady. With both hands shoved deep into his pockets, he faced him with a chill in his gaze. "Ano ba ang gusto mo at tinutulungan mo pa kami? Wala talaga akong nakikitang dahilan para gawin mo 'yon."
He cast a fleeting look at the hooded figure, his eyes narrowing into slits, eyebrows knitting together into a fierce line, while his jaw tightened, a clear manifestation of his simmering anger. It was obvious this confrontation revolved around Willhelmina—her power, her significance. And the figure before him was not someone he could afford to trust.
With a determined look in his eyes, he spoke up, "You gave us your word that you'd assist us."
"Pero hindi ko maibibigay 'yang bagay na 'yon dahil tinulungan mo ang tatay ko. Baka naman tinutulungan mo lang kami para makalabas ka, pero may ibang plano ka pala." Isang ngisi ang lumabas sa kanyang mga labi. "Plano mong patayin ang anak ni Poseidon."
Tumahimik na lang si Thanatos. Saku could barely decipher the emotions playing across his face, and with a determined squint, he sought to draw out more of a reaction. With a bold step forward, he reached for the shadowy hood that obscured the figure's features, swiftly pulling it away to reveal what lay beneath.
Thanatos is lean and muscular, with a regal face, honey gold eyes, and black hair flowing down his shoulders. His skin is the color of teakwood, and his dark wings glimmer in shades of blue, black, and purple.
It is said that he was ruthless and distinct from others—disregarding gods and even humans alike. Saku grasped the reason behind it.
"War didn't begin with me," Thanatos declared, his voice reverberating like a chilling whisper through the shadows of his throne. A dense mist curled around him, enhancing the eerie aura that shrouded his presence. "You understand, it was never merely that straightforward."
"Who can say," Saku replied with an air of indifference. "It doesn't matter to me. You won't find a way to get out of here."
With each step he took, the weight of his burden intensified as he drew nearer to Thanatos. In his hands, the Magus Transporter pulsed with an otherworldly glow—a radiant orb that shimmered with a thousand untold stories. Forged in the depths of shadow and legend, this relic possessed the power to shift between realms and engage in discourse with gods. It was said to hold the secrets of resurrection, a means by which the departed could be summoned back to the realm of the living.
There's no time to explain. They need to hurry.
From behind, Salvatore trailed the two, his instincts prickling with anticipation. Suddenly, he felt a powerful surge of magic ripple through the air. Drawing his scythe from his back, he swung it with precision, carving a path through the ether. With a deft slash, the barrier shimmered and parted, revealing the way ahead.
"Huwag n'yo nang sayangin ang oras n'yo!" sigaw niya.
Then from beneath, a violet spell unfurled, and a bridge of dreams arose in the magic swirled. A cord materialized, entwining Saku and Willhelmina tight, and with each pulse, it shimmered with vibrant light.
"Soul Cord Destination."
"Ano na naman ang ginagawa mo, Salvatore?!" sigaw ni Thantos habang bigla siyang tumayo mula sa kanyang trono, kita ang kaba at pagkabahala sa kanyang tinig. Agad niyang hinugot ang kanyang death scythe at itinutok 'to sa kanila, handang ipagtanggol ang sarili o umatake anumang oras.
"You fail to grasp the truth!" he exclaimed, frustration seeping into his voice. "Your father's sole intention has always been to shield you! That's the reason he's gathering an army—to put an end to the logosmiths! Saku, please, you must hear me!" His voice, deep yet strained, resonated like metal scraping against stone, each word echoing with urgency.
As the chill of the air swept around them, Saku cast a sidelong glance at Willhelmina, who appeared completely unaffected by the unfolding scene. She caught his gaze, and a shiver of surprise ran through her as his dark eyes locked onto hers, accompanied by an unsettling smirk.
In that instant, a realization washed over her: she was face to face with someone truly dangerous. It was that look—the glint of mischief in his eyes—that told her he was playing a game, one that she might not be ready to join.
"You mentioned that you unleashed those monsters for a test, didn't you?" he questioned Thanatos, his voice sharpening with a chilling thrill. There was a thrilling darkness in his tone, one that seemed to dance on the edges of danger. "Very well then, let's see what you've set in motion.
A surge of energy coursed through the air, enveloping them in a strange, electric embrace. Saku whispered an incantation, the syllables rolling off his tongue like a tune from another world, foreign and enigmatic to Thanatos. He'd never encountered such words before.
In the blink of an eye, a mesmerizing aura radiated around them, pealing like a distant bell that roused the lurking monsters from their slumber. With an ear-splitting roar, they surged forward, a tide of fury and teeth, charging straight at him with wild abandon.
Tapos biglang bumukas ang portal, at may lumabas na kakaibang mahika mula mismo ro'n.A soft violet glow materializes, transforming into a shimmering path that gently leads to an enchanting entrance.
The Celestial Isles.
And the realm where Chaos' dwells.
This is where it all began.
