Prologue
"You will be my heart until the day we die together," he whispered softly in her ear, closing the distance between them before pressing a passionate kiss to her lips. The city around them blurred as people moved past, oblivious to their moment.
When he pulled back, his fingers traced the soft strands of her hair that had fallen across her eyes. "How was it?" he asked with a gentle smile.
She returned his gaze, pulling him close by his waist and holding his hand tightly. "It was my first kiss, Tae. How about you?"
"Mine too," Taehyung admitted, smiling as he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his chest and gently patting her hair.
"We promised we wouldn’t touch each other until we met our parents to decide about marriage, right?" he asked, his voice soft to ease any worry from her.
Taehyung, always the gentle man, had encircled her with a quiet, unwavering passion since the day she entered his life. He could never imagine letting go. Seong Hyerin, a charming young woman in her twenties, was both independent and strikingly beautiful—a beauty that could inspire envy in others.
As night deepened and snow began to fall, the clock struck seven. The roads turned slick as snowflakes melted into rough patches.
"I’ll drive you home tonight," Taehyung said. "Don’t take a cab."
Hyerin nodded, hugging him by the waist as they walked toward his car parked near the corner of the town. "Taehyung, the snow..."
"Hyerin, don’t be childish; it’s just snow," he replied, laughing. "We can enjoy it later. It’s too late now." He tried opening the car door, but she playfully blocked him.
"Come on, Hyerin! Get in. The snow will be here tomorrow."
"But it’s our first snow," she pouted, her expression making him smile.
"What do you mean, our ‘first snow’?" he asked, looking at the flakes falling around them.
She caught a snowflake in her palm and held it out for him to see. "This snowfall is the first since we started dating. Taehyung, we’re celebrating our first anniversary this December. Did you forget?"
Her voice was raised just slightly in frustration, and Taehyung’s expression softened as he replied, "No, baby, I remember. I’ve just been so stressed from work. I remember the day we met and everything else. So, what’s your plan?"
Hyerin let out a sigh. "Well, do we celebrate alone, or should we invite them too?"
"They probably won’t come even if we invite them," he answered, sighing. "Why bother?"
She nodded. "Alright, we’ll celebrate alone, then."
"Okay, so what’s next?" he asked, stealing a quick peck on her cheek as he watched her reactions.
"Taehyung, listen," she laughed, playfully hitting him as her cheeks turned pink.
"Look at you blush," he teased with a mischievous grin. "Alright, let’s go."
"Yah, Taehyung!" she scolded, tugging on his coat as he moved to open the car door.
"We had a deal, remember? If you blush, we leave—no excuses," he smirked, watching her pout.
"Fine," she relented, sliding into the car with an exasperated huff.
"We can talk more about it later," he said softly as he buckled her seatbelt. "It’s too cold and late; you’ll catch a cold."
She murmured a quiet "okay," and Taehyung chuckled as he started the drive home, the night air filled with the warmth of their budding love.
