Ain't No Fun

Steve's POV

It's been almost a week since anyone has last seen Ally. Not even 'Shadow' has been out and about.

We've tried contacting her on multiple occasions but it goes straight to voicemail. Not even Fury will update us on where she is or if she's in trouble.

"Alright team, we've got a mission." Tony walks into the room. "We have to be in Venice ASAP, some phony, super-villain wannabe is causing a ruckus." He begins. "He's been causing disasters from city to city and killing hundreds. He seems to have some type of connection to another realm, bringing these elemental monsters here to wreak havoc."
(A/N plot twist from FFH, Mysterio is still bad but the monsters are real.
Also, we're going to act like Infinity War/Endgame never happened.)

"You heard him." I speak up after Tony finishes briefing us. "Suit up."

---

We get to Venice as the sun is setting and meet with Fury and a few other agents.

"Sorry I'm late, I had to sneak away from my- Oh, hey Mr. Stark!" Peter Parker smiles at us.

"Why is he here?" Tony asks Fury.

"We need all the help we can get." Maria Hill speaks. "We don't have much time, they'll be here soon."

Once we go over the plan, we each take our spots as we wait for these last two 'elementals' to show up.

The first one to join the party is a huge water monster. We do everything we can but nothing seems to affect this thing.

"Bring it as far away from any water source as you can." Tony instructs, leading the way as he flies in his suit.

I focus on getting the civilians to safety as the water monster floods the entire city. Out of the corner of my eye I swear I see Ally helping other civilians, but when I turn back to look, she's gone.

I shake my head to snap myself out of it and help more people to safety. Once the water thing is taken care of, we all regroup and prepare for the last, and worst elemental. Fire.

"This one isn't going to be easy. We need to keep it away from anything it can melt to absorb." Agent Hill informs us.

"Stark, if you can add a setting to your repulsors so that they shoot water that would be a huge help." Fury states, Tony nods.

"Sir." I speak up, having a few questions for the man himself. "I know it's probably none of my business but.. I thought I saw Alexandra out there while I was helping people to safety."

The others' eyes widen and Fury turns towards me. "Alexandra? Impossible, she's back in the states." He says. "You could've seen someone who looks like her, but definitely not her."

I nod. "Right, thank you sir."

Once we're dismissed, Tony goes to the lab to make said adjustments to his suit. I make my way to my quarters with the others and try to think back to the woman I saw. She looked identical to Ally. Maybe my thoughts are just getting to me.

Alexandra's POV

"Did you hear that?" Fury asks once all of the Avengers are out of the room. "You need to be more careful Alex!" He sighs.

"I know sir, I'm sorry." I step out of the shadows. "I didn't realize how close he'd gotten. As soon as I saw him I got out of there."

Fury shakes his head. "If you want to keep this charade up without getting caught, I suggest you do as you're told."

I nod. "Yes sir."

"Go wash up. We've got a long day tomorrow." He instructs.

I slip out of the building and make my way to a hidden bunker where I'll be staying while we're here. Once I'm in the quiet, darkness of the bunker I slip out of my suit and change the bandage around my torso before slipping into something more comfortable.

I haven't actually gotten my internal bleeding situation taken care of but it's been hurting less and less so I figured it would go away on its own.

I grab the packet with all of the briefing information in it and dive in, wanting to be prepared for tomorrow. A fire monster? How the heck are you supposed to beat one of those?

---

I wake up the next morning and check the small clock to see that it's almost nine o'clock. I yawn and stretch before getting my suit on and preparing for the day ahead.

Since I've already been briefed and re-briefed myself last night, Fury said it's best for me not to be there when the team is. That way we can avoid any 'accidents' of them spotting me. Instead, I get in as much of a workout as possible in this small bunker as I wait for a page from Fury.

As the hours go by, I become restless and decide to head over to their underground base. I throw some normal clothes on over my suit and disguise myself before entering the real world.

I walk through the crowds, not drawing any attention to myself, and through the building where the base is.

"Alex." Fury says. How'd he know I was here.

"Alex?" I hear Tony laugh and jump back so that he doesn't see me. "Stop yanking my chain, Fury. What's the real 'urgent news' that you had to tell me?"

I hide myself in the shadows as I listen to the rest of their conversation.

"Fine don't believe me. I just thought you should know that you have a daughter before throwing yourself into a situation where you may not come out alive." Fury argues.

My eyes widen and I start to feel nauseous as I wait for Tony's response. Fury said he wouldn't tell him! That man is going to get a piece of my mind.

"How? When?" Tony asks. His voice sounds soft, almost broken.

"Does the name Allison Williams ring any bells?" Fury asks.

I hear a stack of papers drop onto the table and assume that Tony is looking through a file similar to the one that Fury had given me.

"Huh. No wonder she's got good looks." Tony says, his ego taking over. "Where is she now?"

"She's safe." Fury says. "Until this mission is over, that's all you need to know."

"I'm assuming she already knows. Which is also probably why she hasn't come back to work recently." Tony sighs. "I should go get ready. We'll be going into action soon."

There's an awkward silence as the papers are collected. "Hey Fury." Tony says as he's walking away. "Thanks for letting me know."

Once Tony clears the room. I clench my jaw in anger and storm over to Fury.

"How could you?" I growl through my teeth. "You gave me your word!"

"I had to." Fury says, holding my arms still as my emotions get the best of me. "He deserves to know."

I shake my head and look down. "I doubt he'll even care anyway." I mumble, shaking Fury's hands off of me.

"Alex." Fury calls after me as I walk away and I look over my shoulder. "We only have a few minutes until it gets here."

I make eye contact with him and slightly nod before continuing on my way.
