Snowballed
Alexandra's POV
"So you're telling me that Hydra has been watching everything you've done these past nine years?" Tony asks after I tell him about the chip that he pulled out of my head.
"After Zemo brought me in a few months ago, he used some sort of scanner to access everything that was stored in it." I explain further. "He must've done something else to it because after that he was able to control me like a puppet. He'd press the button and I'd blackout while I was used as a soldier."
"That's how Steve got that big hole in his side." James adds.
"That's how you found out?" Tony asks Steve and he nods. "And how did you find out?" He points at James.
"Well after the assassination attempt on my life and Steve's disappearance, I went out in search of the mysterious woman. I saw her in town and followed her into an alley, where she cornered me and revealed herself before briefly explaining what was going on." He explains.
Tony just narrows his eyes at him. "Let me see if I got this right." He speaks. "Zemo let you go nine years ago hoping that you'd find something out for him. He brings you back to see what you've gotten and lets you go again just to have you fake your death and turn you into another winter soldier?"
I nod.
"So you've been working with Hydra this whole time?" He asks again.
I furrow my eyebrows. "What?"
"It's the only thing that makes sense. You're a spy." He points. "You're probably not even my daughter! You planted that in Fury's systems!"
I blink my eyes as I process his words. "What are you talking about? I wasn't being controlled until recently. I didn't even know about the chip in my head."
Tony just laughs. "You're good."
"Why would I risk my life to save you if I was just a spy?" I cross my arms.
He shrugs.
I scoff and shake my head at him. "You're unbelievable." I grab the still-bloody microchip and storm out of the lab.
"Ally!" I hear James call. "Al, the rest of the team is back." He stops me from going too far and being seen.
"I don't care anymore." I say through my clenched teeth.
"Hey." He speaks softly, turning me to face him. "You okay?"
"Do I look like I'm okay?!" I yell. "I didn't want him to know."
He wipes a tear away as it rolls down my cheek. As more tears begin to fall from my eyes, he pulls me into his chest and wraps his arms around me. "It'll be okay." He whispers.
After a few moments, I pull away. "Did you mean it when you were talking about that apartment?" I sniff.
He looks down at me and smiles as he wipes a few stray tears away.
Steve's POV
"What's wrong with you?" I yell at Tony after Ally runs out of the room.
"Me?! She's the one who played all of us." He argues.
I raise my eyebrows at him and his tough expression softens.
"She was playing us.. Right?" He asks.
"You went too far." I shake my head. "None of this is her fault. She was worried about you finding her because she was worried about you. She knew you were doing better and didn't want to ruin that."
His eyes widen and he looks down at the floor. "Oh my God." He looks up at me. "What do I do?"
"If I were you I'd go apologize. Maybe use the excuse of being shocked and overwhelmed." I pat him on the shoulder.
"What if she doesn't forgive me?" He asks, thinking too far ahead.
"I'm sure she will." I assure him.
He sighs and stands from the stool he's sitting on. "So she did fix you up then? With nanotech?"
"Technically a friend of hers did but it was her technology that the friend used." I explain.
Tony chuckles and shakes his head. He hurries out of the lab and I stay behind for a moment before following.
I go straight to my room as Tony goes to Bucky's and close my door behind me. I spot a note with neat handwriting on my bed and furrow my eyebrows.
'569 Leaman Place - Apt.13'
A soft chuckle escapes my lips as I read the address. That's my old building in Brooklyn, which was probably done on purpose.
I guess the two of them really did move away from all of this. It's probably the best considering how Tony reacted--the others wouldn't really react much better.
"Steve." Tony bursts into my room. "She's gone."
I furrow my eyebrows to play along. "What? Where's Buck?"
"He's in his room but he hasn't seen her since she stormed off." He paces.
I furrow my eyebrows for real this time and run across the hall. "Buck?" I ask, he looks up at me from his bed.
"I need to find her." Tony walks into the room. "Where would she go? Her old apartment?"
"You really think it's a good idea for you to go after her? Isn't she upset with you?" Bucky asks.
"She's my daughter." Tony growls.
Bucky puts his hands up in surrender. "Just saying. I don't think you want to push her away any further."
Tony looks down for a moment as if to think before looking back up. "You could find her?" He asks Bucky.
I watch, amazed, as I realize the plan that Ally and Bucky must've come up with in such a short time.
"Probably." He shrugs. "I've found lots of people."
"Go." Tony almost jumps on him. "Go find my little girl. Please."
Bucky glances at me and I shrug.
"I don't know how long it'll take. She's just as skilled as I am." He sits up.
"I don't care, just find her!" Tony says. Bucky nods and Tony walks out of the room feeling pleased with himself.
Bucky quickly starts packing his things and I chuckle. "I'm guessing Ally came up with this plan?" I ask.
"Of course she did. If it was up to me we'd be halfway to Brooklyn already." He smiles, zipping his duffel bag. "She wanted to say goodbye."
I force a small smile. "She could've gotten caught." I say, Bucky nods. He slings his bag over his shoulder and gives me a quick hug. "Take care of her." I say, patting his back.
"Of course." He says before pulling out of the hug. "Don't be a stranger."
I watch my best friend walk down the hallway and out of the compound. From the window I see him walk into the woods surrounding the compound and sigh.
I hear the rumbling of a motorcycle and furrow my eyebrows. Didn't Ally's bike explode? I open my drawer to see that the keys for my bike are gone and look out the window to see that my bike itself is also gone.
I groan and lay down on my bed. How did I not see this coming?
Bucky's POV
After a while of Ally speeding on the bike as I hold onto her, we cover the bike up in the alley behind the apartment building and grab our things. I scoop Ally up after putting my bag around my shoulder and she giggles as I carry her up the stairs. Once we reach the door with the number thirteen on it, she unlocks it and I push it open with her still in my arms.
"Welcome home, Mrs. Barnes." I chuckle as I carry her through the door.
"Take it easy there." She says, jumping to her feet. My smile fades as I feel a pain in my chest. I quickly shake it off, reminding myself that she isn't used to this relationship stuff.
I begin to rant nervously as she looks around the apartment. "I know it's small but it's the only thing I could find in such short notice. We can look for a better place if-"
She cuts me off by pressing her lips to mine. "It's perfect." She smiles as she pulls away.
My stomach does a somersault as I smile back at her. I press my lips to hers again and she wraps her arms around my neck. Maybe this will work out better than expected.
