Between Two Worlds

The glow of the aquarium cast shifting blue patterns over the glass, illuminating the massive serpent gliding through the artificial currents. It wasn't a Voidborn, nor was it a Shuriman beast—just a creature from another part of the world, brought here to be admired. Still, Kai'Sa couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity as the animal hovered near the glass, its crimson eyes locked onto hers.

"You're really into this one, huh?"

Ezreal's voice was lighthearted, but there was a warmth to it. He leaned against the railing, watching her reaction.

"Guess it makes sense. You and it are kinda alike."

Kai'Sa finally turned to him, raising an eyebrow.

"How so?" She asked.

Ezreal grinned, tapping the glass.

"Not from here. Brought into a strange new world. And now, people stare at you like you don't belong." His voice softened. "But you do."

She glanced back at the serpent. It was true. She had spent so long fighting to keep the Void at bay that she barely understood this world—the technology, the cities, the people who hadn't seen what she had. But Ezreal, with all his reckless curiosity, had never treated her like something to be studied. He just... saw her.

"Maybe it does feel familiar," she admitted. "But I think it belongs here more than I do."

Ezreal scoffed.

"Yeah, no. If anyone belongs here, it's you." He smirked and gestured around. "Come on. A sleek, mysterious warrior in a high-tech city? You fit right in."

Kai'Sa shook her head, a rare smile tugging at her lips.

"You're ridiculous," she said, shaking her head lightly.

"Ridiculously right," he corrected, winking.

The serpent nudged the glass, and instinctively, Kai'Sa reached out. For a moment, there was no barrier between them—just an understanding.

Ezreal watched her quietly, his usual cockiness tempered by something else. He had spent years chasing the unknown, searching for answers about his parents, about history, about himself. But with Kai'Sa, there was no mystery to solve—just a person he wanted to understand.

As the creature drifted away into the glowing depths, Kai'Sa pulled her hand back.

"Alright, explorer," she said, nudging him lightly. "What's next?"

Ezreal grinned, taking her hand in his.

"Whatever we want," he replied.

And for once, she let herself believe it.
