Chapter 52 (Extra)

At the altitude of the mountain, the temperature of the air was colder than the lake. He would prefer a scorching heat then this chilling breeze. At least, gentians were providing enough moral support. The figure was reluctant to proceed, standing in front of chamber, he knew he wasn't welcomed in.

"Wanyin."

Like a frizzly sensation of beverage, his voice made the younger feel sensual.

"Why haven't you step inside?"

Fine like a beautiful jade, a tender figure in blue appeared before his sight, dashing that fondly smile.

"...Sect leader Lan." The purple figure observed the beauty before him, an image of perfection he was. Cautiously he carried,

"I'm not sure, if I should... Wei Wuxian had told me about his Everyday activity and I certainly do not wish to see it firsthand."

Seeing his shameless brother was one thing, but seeing Lan Wangji...?He was not brave enough to imagine that stoic face in those explicit activities. No, he would prefer his straight-laced face over everything.

A warm chuckle rang in his ears and made him turn towards the elder.

"Wanyin, you have travelled far to visit your brother, I cannot allow you to depart before you do so."

The first jade of Gusu, joined the second pride of Yunmeng as he guided the two inside Jingshi.

"Zewu Jun...maybe we should-"

The door was shut the moment it was opened. A sight worth a thousand words but not a single sound could escape. Jiang Cheng cursed himself and his brother. Seeing in the porn books was hundred times different that witnessing it live, and now even the Holly Water might not purify his eyes.

He was taking the situation better than the elder at least. Jiang Cheng peaked at the older Jade, who didn't stop smiling but his complexion was already pink.

"Let's go Zewu-Jun, I will wait for my shameless brother to come find me." Jiang Cheng pulled the older Jade out of his thoughts and the two headed towards the library pavilion.

One would think that Lan Xichen was used to it by now, but being raised like a saint, he needed an eternity to adjust.

"Please forgive me, Wanyin. Wangji and Wei Gongzi had been apart for long, they are living the lost time."

The tint of pink on his jade white skin was contrasting, like a cherry on a cream. Jiang Cheng gulped as he averted his gaze from a literal desert before him.

"Sect Leader Lan, You don't have to apologize for my brother, he's been shameless like that for his whole life."

Jiang Cheng firmly believed that it was Wei Wuxian who corrupted prestigious second Jade of Lan, because the latter might not be capable of doing such a thing himself.

Alas! He didn't know that his older brother had no clue how the homosexuality worked, for him the kiss and cuddle was the only intimacy until Hanguang-Jun showed him euphoretic ways.

Another soft chuckle was earned and Jiang Cheng couldn't help but being drawn to that comforting sound.

"Wanyin, We have gone through life and death twice now, should you be this formal?"

Even his complaining tone was sweet, like the freshly bloomed flowers.

"Lan Xichen...Forgive me, I am not used to such flattery."

This earned him a pout from the older jade, one couldn't guess it but Jiang Cheng had been memorizing his features in his memories that he could pick up the slightest change.

"When would Sect Leader Jin allow, Shizui to return? Wangji is always with Wei Gongzi, I can't help but feel lonely."

The older jade complained like a child, his brother had been taken by Wei Gongzi while his nephew by Jin Ling. Nie Huaisang was enjoying his newlywed life. Lan Jingyi was currently being punished for sneaking in another basket of chicken wings while Lan Qiren had been resting longer these days.

"How about you accompany me to Lotus Pier?" Jiang Cheng suggested. Distract the children when they whine. Raising Jin Ling alone had taught him a lot of things.

"Would that be alright? I wouldn't want to make Wanyin use his free time accompanying me."

"If It wasn't, I wouldn't have suggested."

"Then allow me to be in your care." Lan Xichen beamed up. He liked the company of younger pride. Like a detonate, fragile yet robust.

No sooner than the next day, Wei Wuxian finally decided to show his face. Jiang Cheng had to spent the night in Cloud Recesses waiting for his brother.

"You finally remembered that I exist?" Jiang Cheng crossed his arm to his chest against the cheeky smile of his brother, outside the guest chambers.

"Try falling in love then you'll know." Wei Wuxian said and jumped on his brother for a bone crushing embrace.

"Wei Wuxian! let go of me!" Although he said that, he didn't push away the elder. After the War, Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng had a long conversation. They both talked about their mistakes and the guilt they had. The weights they were carrying for so long, finally found escape, like newborns, they had a fresh start.

I'm sorry, I couldn't support you, I couldn't protect you.

If you continue to protect them then I won't be able to protect you!

I'm sorry, I put you on a tough spot and made you feel outcast.

Tell the world I deflected, from now on whatever Wei Wuxian do has nothing to do with Yunmeng Jiang Sect.

"Jiang Cheng, we are meeting after a whole month and you are still pushing me away? Poor Poor me."

Thank you for being my brother.

Let's become brothers again in our next life.

"If you are that pitiful then you should have come yesterday, because of you I had to stay here. Do you know how cold it was at night?"

Wei Wuxian let go of his younger brother; a wide grin appeared on his face. Just by the look of it, Jiang Cheng could tell, he was plotting something.

"Are you sure, you came to visit me?"

"What do you mean?"

"Hmmm Jiang Cheng, you are not good at this thing, are you? Let your Xiongdi guide you."

"What are you talking about?"

"Tsk Tsk, it's not good to be oblivious Jiang Cheng, I noticed how you look at Zewu-Jun."

"What the hell is wrong with you? You think I'm a cut sleeve like you?"

"Ouch Jiang Cheng, are you discriminating against us? You would hurt A-Ling if you say things like that."

"Tch. Wei Wuxian, your shamelessness had been rubbed off on him. Go back to Lan Wangji, I do not have energy to deal with you this early."

Wei Wuxian grinned again, tip toeing around younger until he was red with anger. Satisfied by pissing his brother off, Wei Wuxian finally decided to leave. Few steps ahead, he turned around and said,

"Jiang Cheng, No Sect Duty forbid you to love."

"You...!"

Laughing like a maniac, Wei Wuxian disappeared out of sight. Jiang Cheng fixed his attire for the day, he didn't bring any clothes because he was not expecting to stay the night. It was early morning for him, but Gusu Lan Sect was wide awake. Jiang Cheng strolled through the garden of gentians and made his way to the Library pavilion because that is where he was expected to meet with Zewu-Jun.

"Your punishment ended already?"

When the purple lotus stepped inside the pavilion, he found the not-so-Lan disciple there.

"Sect leader Jiang!" The younger was not expecting to see Sandhu Shengshou either. Nobody informed him about his visit then again nobody informed him about Shizui going to visit Jin Ling either. He had no body but the chicken wings to pass the time with.

Jiang Cheng sat next to Lan Jingyi, curious as to what might bring him of all people to the Library pavilion.

"Another punishment?"

"Sect Leader Jiang, do you think that lowly of me?"

"I'm not the one with most punishment record, you even surpassed Wei Wuxian."

Hearing that he has surpassed Wei Wuxian, Lan Jingyi felt proud. Although the situation required him to feel ashamed.

"So, what is that you're doing?"

Jiang Cheng thought he would find him secretly reading porn but maybe that was just Nie Huaisang and them, all kids are different. He didn't know how he would react if he found any porn with Jin Ling.

"Senior Lan told me to go over these scrolls, I had no idea what these are so I decided to search for it in the library."

Is Lan Jingyi able to make sense?

Jiang Cheng looked over at the scrolls and raised an eye brow. Those were the scrolls related to the sect meetings and financial contributions. What could Lan Qiren be thinking handing these things to this idiot, Unless...

"You need to keep a record of the senior disciples in each sect and the name of their blades. Keep an eye on which disciples are mostly accompanied to the Seasonal meetings and which are accompanied to Annual meeting. As a senior disciple, you ought to take a round around premises of each sect. It would increase the chances of recruiting new disciples and improving your guard, don't forget to-"

"Wow, Sect Leader Jiang, you really know your stuff." Lan Jingyi was completely sold out. Disciples normally feared Sandhu Shengshou but Lan Jingyi feared ghosts more.

"You think I became a Sect Leader sucking my thumb?" Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes and closed the scroll.

Just then the first jade stepped inside the pavilion, carrying his usual smile.

"Wanyin, is indeed very capable, Jingyi."

"Zewu-Jun!"

"Lan Xichen..."

They greeted simultaneously. Lan Xichen joined the two and sat to right side, making Lan Jingyi trapped between the two leaders. Lan Xichen took over the scroll and begun to elaborate.

"It is also important to greet each Head disciple with respect, one of these disciples might become the future sect leader."

"True, it doesn't necessarily have to be the heir, especially now when each sect does not appreciate the election based on family power." Jiang Cheng added.

"If it continued on, in another 100 years the sects would be based on bonds not blood." Lan Xichen provide.

"...Just like how Daozhang Zichen and Xingchen envisioned."

Sometimes the bond of stranger is stronger than the blood.

Then could you tell me why? Why is it that even if I face everyone with a smile, I might not even receive the lowest form of respect, while even though your father was extremely arrogant, people flocked to him? Why is that even though we were born on the same day, Jin Guangshao could host a grand banquet for one son, and watch with his own eyes how his subordinate kicked his other son down the koi tower, from the first stair to the last.

If the cultivation world learnt to appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of a cultivator without caging them to blood then the world might become a place with more tolerance. At least, they hope it would.

Lan Jingyi looked back and forth between the two sect leaders, while they continued to talk about the things he didn't want to understand.

"...spare me."

The two Sect Leader looked down towards the disciple, who didn't realize he had said the words out loud.

"Wanyin, would it be alright if Jingyi comes along with us to Lotus Pier?"

Jiang Cheng shrugged his shoulder, giving permission. But Lan Jingyi was panicking, he absolutely did not want to go to Lotus Pier.

And the three set on their journey.

. . .

The noises of the children playing in the lakes as they splashed water on each other, was a pleasing sound. Lan Xichen wouldn't mind if he had to get used to it. The giggles of the maidens and haughty claims gents had filled the Yunmeng streets. The high flying kites and deep dives of water ghouls were a normal sight.

Jiang Cheng lead them to the main pavilion of Lotus pier. The moment Lan Jingyi stepped inside, he retrieved his feet and ran backwards, leaving all gaping at him.

"What the hell is wrong with that kid?" Jiang Cheng said but when he looked inside, he knew the reason why. Ouyang Zizhen was there.

"Wanyin, please forgive Jingyi, he's in a tough spot right now." Lan Xichen supported his pride, Jingyi.

"Sect Leader Jiang, Sect Leader Lan." Ouyang Zizhen greeted.

"Zizhen or should I say, Sect leader Zizhen." Jiang Cheng greeted the newly appointed leader. He had heard of how he single handedly protected his entire sect, he did not question his methods, nor did he forbid him to use Jiaohuan.

Ouyang Zizhen smiled embarrassedly; he was not used to this treatment.

"What brings Sect Leader Zizhen to my humble home?" although Jiang Cheng would never agree but he was fond of Ouyang Zizhen, one of the reasons being him supporting Jin Ling as a friend. Anyone who's nice to Jin Ling automatically get's on Jiang Cheng's good list.

"As you know Sect Leader Jiang, my mother is sick, so I came to seek for General Wen's aid."

Wen Ning, the Ghost General was now known as General Wen. After becoming Human again, he decided he wanted to keep the legacy of his sister alive. So, he became a medic in Yunmeng Jiang Sect. He himself asked for this position and to everyone's surprise Jiang Cheng agreed almost immediately.

Everyone was aware that Sect leader Jiang held the worst enmity against Wens, after all Lotus Pier suffered the most in their hands.

But Jiang Cheng took it as a challenge to embrace his past and let go of his regrets. That decision alone had made him feel thousands weight lighter.

"My condolence Sect leader Zizhen, General Wen must be in medical chamber, you can ask him to accompany you to Ouyang."

"Much appreciated Sect Leader Jiang." Ouyang Zizhen bowed and went towards the medical chamber.

"They sure grow fast." Lan Xichen added when he saw the back of Ouyang Zizhen disappearing. Just yesterday, Shizui was in his lap playing with his butterflies and now he was almost a man. Lan Xichen didn't know how to describe this feeling.

"They can't stay kids forever; they are our future after all." Jiang Cheng said as he poured the lotus tea for Lan Xichen. Yunmeng Jiang sect did not depend on maids and servants. They had always treated their disciples like a family, that's why the loss was so great when it was burnt down.

"Forgive me Wanyin, I've been feeling lonely lately."

No Sworn brothers and No friends, Lan Xichen had always been surrounded by people but now he had none. His selfishly forced to befriend Jiang Wanyin and he was relieved the other didn't push him away.

"Is my company not sufficient for you?" Jiang Cheng huffed. The older Jade had been treating him like an air.

"Oh, Wanyin, that is not what I mean."

Jiang Cheng shook his head, he knew the older didn't mean it but putting it like that, still made him feel incompetent. Can't he befriend people normally?

"Drink up! I'll show you around."

Lan Xichen beamed and followed the younger around the noisy streets.

. . .

"Sect Leader Zizhen." Wen Ning stood up when he saw the young leader step inside the medical chamber. Hearing that Lan Jingyi already became cautious.

"Senior Wen, at least you don't call me that." Ouyang Zizhen complained as he made his way inside the chamber and comfortably sat down. The junior square and Ghost General had gone on many night hunts together. So, they were familiar enough to be friends.

"Jingyi." Ouyang Zizhen called to the frozen Lan. It took him time to adjust and reply.

"S-Sect leader Zizhen, I didn't know you were here." Lan Jingyi evaded eye contact at all cost.

"Are you avoiding me now JIngyi?" Zizhen said.

"W-why would I avoid you, Sect Leader Zizhen? You are thinking too much."

Ouyang Zizhen sighed, he himself didn't know what to do anymore. It has been like that between the two ever since, Lan Jingyi's open declaration of love.

.

.

.

"Hahahaha I almost forgot. Zizhn, I sold you out to Luo Dongbin.

He's probably here to fetch you for a poetry face off, Good Luck!"

Wei Wuxian laughed wholeheartedly, as he pushed the junior towards the Heavens Gate. He can't be serious right? Everyone stood there, watching Yiling Laozou doing the unlikely again. Ouyang Zizhen didn't even realize what was happening to him, until a tug on his sleeve dragged him out of his thoughts.

"You can't take him!" Came a firm announcement from elder Druzy.

"Why not?" Wei Wuxian asked, smiling cheekily.

"B-because he belongs to me!"

Silence.

The cultivators were still in shock before and now Lan Jingyi's words made them lose their tongues. To put emphasis on his declaration, Lan Jingyi revealed.

"He has already touched my forehead ribbon. Twice."

The only thing everyone could hear was the ringing laughter of Wei Wuxian.

.

.

.

Ouyang Zizhen didn't say anything right there and then when cultivators were anticipating his reply but when the two of them were alone, Ouyang Zizhen rejected Lan Jingyi politely, telling him that he loves Maiden A-Qing. She was the whole reason he even picked up on Jiaohuan and went against his father. Wen Ning sensed the heavy atmosphere and decided to break the tension.

"Ouyang Gongzi, what can I do for you?"

"Wen Qianbei...can you accompany me to Baling Ouyang sect?"

"Is something the matter?"

What isn't a matter? Ouyang Zizhen looked down, a painful cord struck his heart.

"Please save her..."

It was all he could say when tears clouded his eyes. Wen Ning immediately rushed towards the younger and patted his back to comfort him. Lan Jingyi stood there solid in shock.

"Ouyang Gongzi, please give me a moment and I will collect all the necessary herbs."

Ouyang Zizhen wiped his tears, he nodded and sniffed. Wen Ning went out of the room to gather the necessary material. Lan Jingyi was lost for words. He had never seen Ouyang Zizhen cry, well except for Maiden A-Qing. He slowly made his way towards Zizhen, stutteringly he asked

"Z-zizhen...Is everything..alright?"

Ouyang Zizhen inhaled a lung full and only replied,

"Mn."

He didn't add another word and Lan Jingyi didn't know how to ask anything either. The time seemed to move so slow and it was become suffocating to stay there. Both had many thoughts running wild in their minds but no words to conclude a single thing. Luckily Wen Ning came back, he was carrying a huge satchel of medicine on his shoulder.

"Let's go Ouyang Gongzi." The two disappeared leaving Jingyi with unsettling heart.

Who was Zizhen crying for? Who was her?

Lan Jingyi went inside the main pavilion but he didn't find the two sect leaders there. Having no other choice, Jingyi decided to look for them in Yunmeng streets.

He liked the noisy environment; it didn't make him feel different.

. . .

Lan Xichen was highly attracted by the Lotus flowers which were grown inside the Lotus Pier. How Lan Xichen wished he had brought his equipment to paint. He stepped closer to have a better look at the flowers, he was mesmerized by the shade of pink deepening into purple. It was beautiful.

Subconsciously he raised his hand to feel the soft texture of the petals then

*pluck

Panicked that he had just committed a grave sin. How could he offend the nature like that? His eyes were apologetically looking at the flower, which was a victim to his act. He didn't realize another person was witnessing his crime.

"Sect Leader Lan, how could you?"

Hearing the familiar voice, Lan Xichen turned around to see Jiang Cheng crossing his arms.

"Wanyin...I..."

"Did you know what a crime you committed?" Jiang Cheng said shaking his head, dramatically.

"I...I didn't mean to..."

"You should know what value these Lotus Flowers hold to us. I'm afraid a punishment is set due."

Lan Xichen looked down, guilt was dripping on his face. He felt like a sinner for abusing nature.

"I understand, please proceed."

"pfft- Hahahahahahaha oh lord, Zewu Jun hahahahaha." Jiang Cheng was laughing his lungs out while Lan Xichen was looking at him with his doe eyes, confused as to what might cause his friend to laugh like this.

"Zewu Jun, you are too gullible." Jiang Cheng said wiping the tears off his eyes.

Maybe that's why you were tricked.

"Come out, let's go." Jiang Cheng held the older jade with his wrist and carried him away.

"Wanyin, where are we going?" Lan Xichen asked, still processing what was happening.

"Where else? You need to be punished." Jiang Cheng said controlling his laugh.

The two stopped in front of a beautiful pavilion. The candle lighted hall and aromatic incense. There were signs of newly burnt paper money. It was the burial hall of Yunmeng Jiang Sect.

The two kneeled before the ancestors and lighted incense together.

"I have never seen ancestor hall in Gusu." Jiang Cheng gave voice to his thoughts. He peeked at the Lan beside him, who was seriously bowing for the sin he has committed. Another urge to laugh was control.

"We have a cave behind, cold spring. That's where our ancestors are buried." Lan Xichen replied.

"Lan Xichen! How can you just reveal things like that?" Jiang Cheng was shocked. Not that he minded, but he begun to worry for the elder. Is that how Jin Guangyao tricked him?

"Wanyin, I do trust you."

"Lan Xichen, you shouldn't trust people so easily, they aren't what they appear to be." Jiang Cheng said thinking of someone, or maybe thinking of himself.

Lan Xichen had learnt that, he no longer trusted any one. But the more he spent time with Jiang Cheng, the more he trusted him. A person ready to kill himself for the sake of his family, Lan Xichen was moved by his act of loyalty and love for his dear ones.

"Back at the first siege of burial mounds, I really regret a lot of things."

Jiang Cheng jolted a little, sudden change in the conversation. He looked at Lan Xichen, his eyes flickered with pain and sadness.

"I wished I had listened to Wangji back then...I-I have always been like that, I chose not to listen because... I'm afraid of what the reasons might be."

In my memories, Mother had indeed been so kind. I do not know why she did such a thing back then in truth, I... do not want to know either.

In the past, it was not that I did not know what you did, but that I believed you had your reasons behind doing them.

But, you have done too much. And I... no longer know if I should believe you.

"I wonder if not knowing the truth had been better."

Staying in seclusion with nothing but closed wall and your intoxicating thoughts was like a death sentence. The seclusion did more harm than good, when you let your thoughts take control, you blame yourself even more. Fishing out the reasons, a justification, anything that would make you feel, you were not a mannequin for the world to perceive but every time, you get the same answer.

You have no one but yourself to blame.

Lan Xichen at least understood why his father couldn't leave seclusion till his dying breath and he was sure he would have stayed there as well, falling victim to his own pitiful self.

Meng Yao didn't let him go to save him, but to kill him. He knew him too well, just like that.

"The truth is always bitter but I still would prefer to know it." Jiang Cheng added. What was better, blaming yourself or blaming your loved ones?

His long lashes downcast with a sad smile,

"Perhaps. I Can't do much now, the cause and truth no longer exists"

"Truth always finds its way out. No matter how much time it takes." Jiang Cheng would know.

Zewu Jun, Meng Yao let Sisi live, because she was a confident of Meng Shi. Jin GuangYao was corrupted with far too many sins but Meng Yao wished for Just a gaze of equivalence.

A single lonely tear escaped the jade eyes. Kneeling like that, in front of heaven and earth. What they might be thinking about him? Those rules were there to protect him, he followed them all. He didn't judge, he didn't conclude, he trusted reasons, and yet those exact rules caused his demise. They would surely be calling him a fool. He now perfectly understood what kind of trial Wangji was facing.

I would like to ask Shufu, How do we know what is right and what is evil? What is black and what is white?

"Aren't you going to say something?" Lan Xichen said wiping the tear from his eyes. He felt the younger's gaze but didn't hear anything from him.

"You aren't expecting me to comfort you. Are you?" Jiang Cheng said.

"Well, I was hoping a little, that you would."

"It took me more than 13 years to let go of my sorrows, I can't advice you suck it up just like that."

Jiang Cheng knew the drill, he had been there. The one thing he could do was support the elder. Something he didn't have.

"I assume you didn't just end your seclusion because you wanted to?"

"I'd have to thank Wei Gongzi for that."

"He acts reckless but he can actually talk sense. So, what did he say to convince you?" Jiang Cheng agreed and asked. The eyes that shed tears were now curved into a moon shape, revealing a soft smile. Lan Xichen revealed,

"He threatened me."

"...."

Jiang Cheng take it back, his brother was reckless, too reckless. Who would threaten a sect leader to end his own seclusion?

"W-What did he threatened you with?" Jiang Cheng thought, no more of his brother's antics could surprise him but no, Wei Wuxian had sworn to give him a heart attack one day.

"He threatened to run away with Wangji and never return again."

Zewu Jun, are you planning to do the same thing Qingheng Jun did to you? Are you planning to make Lan Zhan sit at your pavilion like he did at Madam Lan's?

Jiang Cheng slapped his forehead.

"I knew Wei Gongzi would not do that, but it gave me the excuse to step out."

The eyes of Jade lowered as he looked at the Lotus flower in his hand. They grow out of mud!

"I am pathetic like that, I didn't even have the courage to make my own decision."

"Lan Huan!"

The sudden informality had his ears perked up. He turned towards the younger and looked at his mellow eyes. Lan Xichen didn't know, Jiang Cheng was capable of such soft expression. Before he knew it, he was engulfed in a warm embrace.

"W-wanyin?"

"Shut up. Weren't you the one who told me to comfort you?"

Jiang Cheng had no one left to lend him a shoulder to cry on, a hug to comfort in and a person to even talk to. He had seen the same broken self in Lan Xichen and wanted to take away his pain, like how he hopped someone had taken away his.

Lan Xichen could feel his guard crumbling slowly but surely, the warmth he thought was so distant was given to him without a cause. He allowed his tears to run lose. He had been keeping them for too long. It was time to let go and move on.

The tender moment was disturbed by the famous Lan.

"Zewu Jun!" First shocked at the intimacy before him, then worried when he spotted tears on that jade face, Lan Jingyi leaped inside the ancestral hall, ignoring the glare of the Sandhu.

"Zewu Jun, are you alright?" Lan Jingyi asked with visible concern.

"Jingyi...where have you been?" Lan Xichen wiped his tears and reached towards the elder Druzy.

"I was looking for Zewu Jun, are you alright? Did something happen?" Lan Jingyi asked eying towards Sect Leader Jiang.

"I'm alright, tell me what is wrong? Why were you looking for me?"

"I need permission to leave."

"Where do you plan to go?"

"Baling Ouyang Sect."

"Did something happen?"

"No!... I don't know. I am worried about Zizhen."

"Ah! Would you like me to accompany you?"

"No Zewu jun, I will be alright. I will return straight to cloud recesses after wards."

"Alright, be careful on your way."

Lan Jingyi bowed to both sect leaders and dashed out of the way.

"Good thing, running is not forbidden in Yunmeng, otherwise, he would be getting severely punished." Jiang Cheng shook his head, that boy was too daring. Lan Xichen chuckled at that. Lan Jingyi was indeed his pride.

"Zewu Jun, what do you say if we extend our little tour to LanLing Jin sect?" Jiang Cheng suggested. He had to check up on his nephew who; apparently forgot that he has an uncle.

"Of course." Lan Xichen smiled.

. . .

As compared to Lotus Pier, the Baling Ouyang Sect seemed dry. After the war, the coronation ceremony of new sect leader was held without much festivity. Most of sect treasures were spent on fixing the damages. The relationship between previous Sect Leader and Ouyang Zizhen only got worst with the former ignoring the latter.

But it didn't affect any sect matters, as they both dealt with it professionally.

It was not the first time, Lan Jingyi had stepped in Baling Ouyang Sect. The Junior squares had visited all of their sects one by one and had bonded tremendously.

"Lan Gongzi what brings you here?" One of the Baling Ouyang disciple spotted Lan Jingyi and welcomed him inside.

"Where is Zizhen?" Lan Jingyi blurted out. He was anxious about Ouyang Zizhen ever since he seen him cry.

"Sect leader Zizhen is currently occupied, if you could wait in the guest pavilion, I will relay your arrival." The disciple said and went away.

It was only after almost an hour did Ouyang Zizhen appear, with his swollen eyes. Lan Jingyi abruptly stood up and reached the elder, panicked.

"What happened, Zizhen?"

"...Why are you here?" Ouyang Zizhen asked with indifference. His tone was a bit cold and his gaze was lifeless.

"I am worried about you?" Lan Jingyi honestly replied, a bit taken back by elder's tone.

"What gave you the right to worry about me?"

"A-aren't I your friend?" hurt by elder's words, Lan Jingyi replied. He knew the elder was right, complaining about his behavior. Lan Jingyi stopped going on night hunts where Ouyang Zizhen participated. He went high and low just to avoid any interaction.

"You can ignore me whenever you want and befriend me whenever you want?"

Even though Lan Jingyi was a pain in you know what. Ouyang Zizhen still cherished him. Suddenly being robbed off a friendship like that was hard on him.

"No!..."

"I don't like it when you ignore me." Ouyang Zizhen confessed. He was not a man to fuss around.

"Do you think I want to ignore you? You have no idea how painful it is for me to know that I can never have your heart! I am trying to move on but I can't! I-I really love you Zizhen..."

Lan Jingyi started fierce but he broke down at the end of the sentence. How did Hanguang Jun cope with this pain?

It was the first clear declaration of love. But why did it sound so painful?

"...Go back Jingyi...please."

It was not the time for Ouyang Zizhen to ponder on love. His mother was dying and he had enough on his plate with sect matters. He didn't want to make a rash decision with so many things occupying his mind.

It was best if they really don't see each other.

. . .

The three pairs found themselves staring into each other, in the busy city of Lanling Jin Sect.

"J-Jiujiu?"

Jin Ling uttered. he was not expecting his uncle's visit. At least, not this soon. But the surprising fact was seeing Lan Xichen along him. Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng visited the Koi Tower but they did not find Jin Ling there. Jin Chan told them that he was out in the city and so the two leaders went out as well. Nie Huaisang came to pick Mo Xuanyu, who was staying at Koi Tower upon Qin Cangye's insisting. It was a way for him to apologize to Mo Xuanyu for the shame he was forced upon because of Lan Ling Jin sect. And Mo Xuanyu also wanted to move on with his past.

"How long are you planning to ditch your duties and play house A-Ling?" The authoritative voice of Sandhu roared.

"It's called a date, Jiujiu." Jin Ling said greeting his uncle.

"You think you have become old enough to teach me now?"

"I am already old enough but you still think I am a baby."

The Uncle-Nephew duo kept going with their banter. In the background, Lan Shizui already approached Lan Xichen.

"Zewu Jun, what brings you to LanLing Jin sect?"

"We went on a stroll and I was accompanying Sect Leader Jiang." Came a smiled reply form blissful person.

"What about Hanguang Jun and Wei Qianbei?"

"They are back in the Cloud Recesses."

"When are you planning to return, Shizui?"

"Well...I...I want to stay a bit longer with A-Ling."

Lan Shizui replied with a flushed face. Right after the war, the two were equally shy that none of them tried to bring the topic again but then Lan Shizui toughened up and confronted Jin Ling. And the two had been mutually in love ever since. Jin Ling took advantage of Qin Cangye's visit to LanLing Jin sect for formal apology towards Mo Xuanyu. Jin Ling invited Lan Shizui to stay with him while he still got a breath to himself. It was the last day of that agreement since Qi Cangye had returned to Leiling Qin sect.

Lan Xichen looked at his adorable nephew's flushed face and smiled genuinely.

It must be nice to fall in love.

"I can only allow another 3 days." Lan Xichen could grant him this much. If Lan Qiren learnt about it, a punishment would be set in motion.

"Thank you, Zewu Jun!" Lan Shizui bowed in gratitude.

"Since we are all here, why don't we stop by for a meal?" Nie Huaisang suggested but It was also a strategy to keep the uncle-nephew pair from fighting Thank fully, it worked.

The 3 pairs dinned in delicious meals of Jin Sect, in a less crowded inn. They all could use a little peace.

"You really are using your golden core to stabilize the liquor?" Jiang Cheng asked the first jade who out of courtesy drank a cup of wine. This gave Lan Shizui a chance to taste the bitter liquid and he wished he hadn't. Why was his dad so fond of this abomination?

"I am. Though I can't say how much can I consume." Lan Xichen provided. Even though everyone told him to not force himself, Lan Xichen wanted to participate on his own. Previously he was always forced upon drinking on several occasions during sect meetings and luckily, just one cup. So, he himself was not aware how much was his limits.

"Don't even think of trying." Jiang Cheng scolded the older Jade. It earned him a soft chuckle that made him feel happy as well.

Back then it was spur of the moment when Jiang Cheng stole a kiss from him in the secluded mountain, but that feeling begun to grow slowly slowly without him realizing. Jiang cheng was not a wreck less person when it came to loving someone but there he was, being a total fool in love.

Nie Huaisang and Mo Xuanyu looked back and forth between the Jade and Lotus pair. They both shared a knowing look.

"Xichen Xiong, Jiang Xiong, May I ask a favor?" Nie Huaisang asked shyly.

"Depends on the favor." Jiang Cheng monotonously said.

"Wanyin!" Lan Xichen slightly scolded.

The smirk on Nie Huaisang's face only grew wider. His husband could tell he was planning something.

"You see, I overheard about trouble brewing near the Tinave Temple and I was hoping if you could have a look at it."

"Why don't you go? It's in near your sect." Jiang Cheng raised an eyebrow.

"Jiang Xiong, you know I have been busy continuously, ever since and even before the war, could you spare me a little?" Nie Huaisang whined.

"Sect leader Jiang, it's alright if you don't want to. I will think of another way." Mo Xuanyu interfered.

For Jiang Cheng, Mo Xuanyu was more tolerable than Nie Huaisang. Maybe because for 3 years, that body belonged to his brother? Jiang Cheng came in turn with seeing him as his brother as well.

"What do you say, Sect leader Lan?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"It could be a great night hunt for us." Lan Xichen smiled.

"Fine. A-Ling, you go back to Koi Tower and be responsible. A-Yuan, I expect you to watch him well." Jiang Cheng ordered the kids and the two sect leaders went to their new destination Tinave Dao Sect, affiliated with Qinghe Nie Sect.

. . .

Aimlessly walking like a corpse, carrying a bucket full of chicken wings. Lan Jingyi returned to Cloud Recess with his broken heart. After storing away his wings, he went straight to the library pavilion for his punishment of the crime he didn't commit. At least, not yet.

He picked up his brush and begun to write the 4000 sect rules without batting an eye. He had written them for so many times that he could recited them from memory.

An eternity passed but Lan Jingyi was still writing rules for the nth time. The disciples begun to circle around the library pavilion. Quiet was not Lan Jingyi's middle name. Even Lan Qiren found this type of silence eerie.

"Jingyi!" Trouble was Wei Wuxian's middle name.

"Wei Qianbei." Lan Jingyi just acknowledged his presence and started working on his scripture once again.

"Let's go for a walk, Jingyi!" Wei Wuxian tugged the younger and pushed him out of the Library Pavilion.

"Where are we going, Wei Qianebi?" Lan Jingyi let the elder pull himself. Maybe he could pull him out of his thoughts as well?

"It's a secret." Wei Wuxian said putting a finger on his big smile. Wei Wuxian has always protected the juniors from disaster and his presence was like a sun in the dark, although the disaster was caused by himself, most of the times.

The two journeyed to the back of the mountain, to the cold spring.

"Let's have a swim."

"Eh?"

"Come on!" Wei Wuxian dived straight into the pound splattering water to the youngster standing at the edge. His clothes were already wet now, no need to hold back. With one big breath, Lan Jingyi dived in as well.

The water splashed everywhere, the calm cold spring that was supposed to be epitome of peace was now the house of clamor. Only Heavens knows, if this duo ever combined, the Cloud Recesses might cease to exist.

"Wei Qianbei, I never knew you could be this good!"

"This is nothing." Wei Wuxian resurfaced to catch his breath. He could have swum a lot better if his body was not commissioned recently.

"Back in the days, me and Jiang Cheng would scare the heck out of people by not resurfacing for minutes. Hahaha you should have seen their faces when they went to call Jiang Shishu."

The days of youth are precious ones.

"Wei Qianbei...d-don't you miss going back?"

"Hmm, Should I? Lan Zhan is here and A-Yuan and Zewu Jun and you. Besides, It is way more fun to tease the noble men Hahahaha. Moreover, I can go back to Lotus Pier whenever I want, so it's a bonus hehehe."

Lan Jingyi agreed, having two homes were better than one. Maybe he will find a place of his own one day?

"Jingyi Xiong."

Lan Jingyi knew that tone was meant for teasing.

"What is it?"

"Sometimes, to love we have to let it go."

It is true, he could not force Ouyang Zizhen to love him back. Just as much as he loves him, he knew that Zizhen also loves A-Qing the same way. It would be too selfish for him to force a love out of him.

. . .

"Zewu Jun, was this well always here?"

The two sect leaders successfully reached the Tinave Dao Sect. The two had visited this place separately on different occasions before and they easily knew the way to the temple, however they failed to notice the well before.

"I am not certain but every temple has had a well."

Two of them went closer to have a better look. Inside, there was water but how deep it was, no one could tell.

A strong force behind and the two felt the gravity pulled them inside.

Somebody has pushed them!

The angry Zidian flared into the whip and lashed towards the open end to secure escape.

"Lan Xichen grab on!"

And he grabbed on, but what a thing he grabbed.

"...."

"..."

One end of the Zidian was secured at the edge of the well, while the other end was firmly in placed with Sandhu. Just near the belt, the other sect leader was dangling with him.

What a pleasant Night Hunt.

The well was too narrow that they could not mount their blades to ride out of it.

"W-Wanyin, are you alright?"

"I feel fantastic hanging in the midair, what about you?"

"I feel nauseatic..."

What?

"What's wrong Lan Xichen?" Jiang Cheng looked down at the jade, who looked pale as a ghost. The grip around his belt was loosening a bit.

"I-I don't know, I feel dizzy."

Shit! The alcohol was kicking in.

"Zewu Jun, don't fall asleep, keep holding on!" Jiang Cheng demanded. He needed to think of a way out of the well and fast.

"Wanyin, I can make the water rise." Lan Xichen said fishing out his Leibing.

"Can you handle it?"

"I think so."

Jiang Cheng will make sure to break the legs of the person who dared to push them in.

It was difficult hold on and play at the same time, although the tune was a bit ragged but the water begun to rise up. Until

*Splash

"Zewu Jun!"

The alcohol finally won the battle and made the jade black out. He fell into the water that was still rising.

"Shit!"

Jiang Cheng dived in, after the Lan. Although the water was rising high but the Lan was sinking deep. If Jiang Cheng wasn't an excellent swimmer, it would have been hard to pull out the elder. Jiang Cheng let the current rise high while he grabbed the fallen jade, pulling him back to the surface. When the water reached the edge, Jiang Cheng jumped out, carrying the older Lan.

"Zewu Jun, wake up!" Jiang Cheng gently patted the lan to not avail. He had blanked out first then fell into the water, he needed to be conscious now, he needed to breathe and so Jiang Cheng gave him the breath.

Mouth to mouth, he sucked hard, in attempts to revive the jade. He couldn't help but feel a sense of Déjà vu. Even after abusing those cherry lips, there was not response.

No! No! No! Not again! Please No!

"Xichen ge, wake up!!" The Lotus begged, shaking the jade.

But the Heavens won't be cruel anymore and so, the jade was revived from his slumber.

"...Wanyin?"

"Xichen ge!" Jiang Cheng squeezed the remaining water out of him thorough that hug.

"How are you feeling? Are you still dizzy? Does it pain anywhere? Did you get hurt."

"Wanyin Wanyin, calm down. I am perfectly alright." Lan Xichen said with a reassuring smile. Only then the lotus heaved a breath. Jade's slender fingers traced the warmth on his lip. Seeing him placing his digits so sensually, heat rose to Jiang Cheng's face.

"...F-forgive me, I-I had to do that." Jiang Cheng averted his tomato face. Lan Xichen only smiled brighter. It was always pleasant to see, more expressions on younger.

"We are even now."

"Even?" Jiang Cheng asked in confusion.

"Back in the Baixue temple, when your Core was illuminating, I did the same."

Wet hair, red lips, blushed cheeks and a bright smile, What a sin!

Jiang Cheng stood up abruptly, leaving the jade gaping. He hurried his steps and caught up to the younger.

"Wanyin, are you mad at what I did? Forgive me, I was really desperate to save you back then."

"..."

Jiang Cheng halted his steps but still not seeing eye to eye.

"Not even..."

"Pardon?"

"It's not even, back at the Celestial mountain, I...k-kissed you."

"..."

"I'm going back!" Jiang Cheng didn't wait for Lan Xichen's reply and dashed away on his Sandu.

. . .

"Lan Zhan, I didn't mishear, did I?"

The couple were standing at the outskirt of the Cloud Recesses, conversing with a young man. Seeing that the seniors were not taking him seriously, he cleared his throat and announced once again,

"I wish to court Lan Jingyi!"

Wei Wuxian pulled Lan Zhan away and whispered to his ears.

"Lan Zhan, what should we do? Should we chase him out or give him a chance?"

"Jingyi."

"Mn. I think so too."

Wei Wuxian hoped back to the young man and gave him a mischievous smile.

"Alright, let's go."

The three cultivators stepped inside and let the Junior wait in the Library Pavilion. Wei Wuxian decided to accompany the young lad while Lan Wangji went to fetch Lan Jingyi.

"So, tell me what's your name and why do you wish to court our Jingyi?"

Now that Lan Wangji was gone, it wasn't Wei Wuxian now but the Yiling Patriarch.

His red glinting eyes were enough to send shivers down the younger's spine.

"I..m-my name is Fang Mengcheng. I met with Lan Jingyi in Meishan Yu sect. His bravery has impressed me a great deal and I think I have fallen for the Druzy."

I don't want to go!!!! I am still afraid of the Spirits!!!!! –CH 32

*Love was indeed blind.

Wei Wuxian nodded his head in understanding, he did recall seeing this young man through the mullet. Within the minutes, the elder Druzy was brought in sight.

"Wei Qianbei you calle – Fang MengCheng! What are you doing here?"

Lan Jingyi said with a clear scoff in his voice. He remembered how Zizhen blatantly used him as a Virgin bait for Gonggong and nobody bat an eye. He shall avenge.

Wei Wuxian snorted but schooled his expressions.

"Jingyi, come sit."

And Lan Jingyi just did that, glaring at the young man while sitting next to moma duck.

"Lan Jingyi! Forgive me, if we started at the wrong footing. And I wish to amend it."

"Oh yeah? How many buckets you can offer?"

Bribing is forbidden. Lan Wangji was still standing there, this called for a punishment, but taking advantage of Wei Wuxian's presence, Lan JIngyi dared on.

"Buckets?" Fang Mengcheng asked, not understanding what he meant. Buckets of gold?

"Bucket of Chicken wings."

"...oh!"

"Not oh! How many?"

"Ah! How many do you desire, I will provide you."

A triumph smile appeared on Lan Jingyi's face. He shall have a feast tonight. Lan JIngyi looked at Wei Wuxian, as if asking him to persuade Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian did that.

"Have fun you two." Wei Wuxian waved them off with a smile while Lan Wangji just stood there.

"Wei Ying."

"Lan Zhan, don't worry. Kids grow from experiences like that. That was how I learnt."

"...." This had him earned a cute scowl.

"Hahaha Lan Er Gongzi, rest assure, this body is still virgin." Wei Wuxian said with a smirk and all the barriers were broken when he was led to the Jingshi to take care of the virginity of his. They had been kissing and cuddling but because of Wei Wuxian's old body was subjected to resentment too much, his core was taking time to adjust. And Lan Wangji decided to wait for his beloved to fully adjust. He was happy nonetheless, he could wield Suibian again.

. . .

The two youngsters were taking a stroll in the Caiyi City. It was as far as he was allowed to go for the date, he didn't even know about. Fang Mengchen was wary of his crush's every move. He hoped he was not making the younger uncomfortable.

"Where do you wish you to?"

"To Hell, if it's with you." He was the one to hold grudges.

"..."

"Ah! There it is!" Lan Jingyi jumped excitedly, looking at the sign board of their destination. The Heaven were Chicken wings were made.

"Buy me a lot of buckets!" Lan Jingyi dragged his date to the famous inn.

Happily munching on the feast before him, Lan JIngyi was having the time of his life. Free food was always better. Seeing his antics, a smile carved on Fang MengCheng's face. If it took just that to make him smile then he would do it.

"Why do you like them so much?"

Lan Jingyi stopped stuffing another wing in his already full mouth and looked at the elder with What-is-there-not-to-like?

Who on Earth would hate Chicken Wings?

This earned him a light laugh from elder but Lan Jingyi was too focused on task at hand.

"I meant, why do you like Sect Leader Zizhen so much?"

"W-what do you mean?" Lan Jingyi was shocked to the point that the chicken wing fell from his chopstick. How did he know about it?

"Ah! Forgive me, It was fairly obvious." Fang Mengcheng said scraping his nape awkwardly.

All of his excitement and happiness was gone, just by mentioning that one. What a poison love was. Seeing the sad expression on his face, Fang Mengcheng felt bad for brining that up so he announced.

"Lan Jingyi! Will you allow me to court you?"

"Eh?" Lan JIngyi didn't have the mental capacity to understand that.

"C-court as in L-love?"

"Mn. I am serious." Fang MengCheng said with a stern face.

This was the first time someone has confessed to him, a nice feeling at that. Lan Jingyi was frozen in shock. What should he do? Should he accept it or should he – NO! Zizhen is not even in the picture anymore. He had already rejected him. Lan Jingyi slumped again, No matter what he did, Zizhen was always in his mind.

Seeing there was no reply to his confession, Fang Mengcheng continued.

" It is clear that Ouyang Zizhen will not pay attention to you, especially now that his mother is sick –"

"What?!"

"...yes?"

"H-his mother is sick? What happened?!"

Both had the stunned face. Everybody knew that especially now he was the sect leader.

"..Ah, his mother was injured during the war."

When the Wen Corpses were turned into ashes, there was no reinforcement to fight against the ghoul. Ouyang Zizhen did as much as he could to stop them, he prone himself to danger and formed a barrier of souls. He didn't notice, one of the ghouls was moving behind him but before it could attack, his mother shielded him. She got a wound then, it wasn't bad at first, but it got worst to the point of making it fatal and now if they didn't do anything soon, she might die.

It was news to Lan Jingyi, and there was getting jealous, thinking it was someone else.

"I have to go!"

"What?!"

Lan Jingyi dropped everything and dashed out of the inn, followed by Mengcheng.

"Wait!!"

Lan Jingyi halted, giving his attention to the elder.

"H-he won't accept you even after-"

If he lost his mother so suddenly, Ouyang Zizhen might not be able to handle the pain and he might even blame himself. But because he was sect leader, there were emotions he was not allowed to show.

A clear frown on Lan Jingyi's face.

"Fang Mengcheng, thank you for the meal and I'm sorry, I can't accept your feelings."

Lan Jingyi mounted away.

The path to Baling Ouyang felt longer than usual. Lan JIngyi wished he could enhance his cultivation so he would just teleport there.

When he finally reached his destination, the sect was quiet. One could almost mistake it for a wrong sect. Despite the warnings and waiting for any pleasantries the great Lan barged straight into the private quarters.

Now he knew why everything was so quiet.

A pale looking woman was lying on her bed, resting. Judging from her complexion, Lan Jingyi could guess, that the elderly had trouble sleeping and it was probably after days she got a wink. At the arm's length, Ouyang Zizhen was sitting with his face on the bed and hand in with his mother. He himself had fallen asleep. There was a trail of freshly shed tears at the corner of his eyes.

Why didn't he know that, the person he loves so dearly was suffering like that? He felt so pathetic and useless. When his love needed support he bailed out, ignoring him because of his own stupid reasons. Everything hurt so bad.

Wen Ning, who was out preparing the medicine, stopped seeing the elder Druzy.

"Lan Gongzi, what brings you here?" Wen Ning whispered. Even though he exactly knew what brought him here. He had witnessed the love between Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian first hand.

"How is she?" Lan Jingyi asked swallowing the urge to cry.

"Madam Ouyang, is fighting a tough battle now. She needs all the support, but-"

"But what?" Lan JIngyi grew anxious.

"It's Zizhen Gongzi I'm worried about, he's been neglecting his health..."

Running back and forth, with a sect and a sick mother especially when everyone was still recovering from the war. It was surprise he hadn't collapsed yet.

Lan JIngyi swallowed hard,

And I've been only adding burden to him.

Just then Ouyang Zizhen opened his heavy eyes and stared at the two in bewilderment. Rising form his spot, he grabbed Lan JIngyi's wrist and dragged him out of the private quarters, far form the place where the noise won't reach.

"Why are you here again? Didn't I tell you leave?" His voice was cold and firm but to Lan Jingyi, it was a plead of help. The moment his wrist was set free, Lan Jingyi shot up and clutched his beloved in a warm embrace.

Taken back by sudden action, it took Ouyang Zizhen some time before he could register anything.

"Jingyi, I already told you that I can't reciprocate your feelings."

"I'm not here for that."

"What do you want then?"

"Let me stay with you."

"..."

Ouyang Zizhen broke the hug now and looked into the younger's eyes. His eyes were glistering, indicating that in any moment unshed tears will let loose. It made it hard for Zizhen to push him away but the situation demanded him to, so he said dutifully.

"Lan Jingyi, please don't cause trouble. Go back and don't return."

Lan Jingyi inhaled and plunged for another hug, startling the elder once again.

"I won't go away!"

"Jingyi, please be reasonable...my hands are already full."

"That's why, don't push me away! Let me help you." Lan Jingyi gripped even tighter.

"...What can you do? What can you help me with?"

Ouyang Zizhen knew better than anyone else that his mother would not survive. With in his resources he had done everything but nothing fruitful came out of it. So what could he do? What could possibly be done! He was tired. He just wanted a little break.

"Zizhen, have faith in Wen Qianbei, your mother will make it."

He wanted his people to say the same. To tell him that his mother will be alright, he could do better too but the words he received just pushed him at edge.

"...I-I...she is dying Jingyi." A soft trail of tears turned into chaotic ones. Ouyang Zizhen had been acting so strong that a little comfort made the barriers in him crack open. Somebody tell him please, somebody reassure him please, he just wanted to have his mother back.

"She will not die, she's strong, she's fighting for you, she'll come back to you."

They both new, possibilities of those words. But sometimes, the sweet lies are better than bitter truths.

Ouyang Zizhen hugged him back and cried. The pain, the frustration, the agony finally found a support to let out.

. . .

"What happened to everyone, first Shizui and now Jingyi?!"

The Cloud Recesses was peaceful as ever. Lan Qiren was fuming in anger like usual and Lan Xichen was sipping tea, lending his uncle and ear.

"Shifu, it's better if Jingyi gets the firsthand experience in leading the sect."

If not his pride, who else would lead the sect after him? Lan Xichen had expressed his desires of giving his position to Lan Jingyi. Lan Qiren couldn't deny that either, his efforts during the war had proved that his brain was capable of storing something other than Chicken Wings. Lan Xichen was already 39. He had already ruled the sect for almost 20 years, just few more years and he would retire. Lan Jingyi was already 19, Lan Xichen would devote himself to personally train him.

Hearing the thing from the logical perspective, Lan Qiren agreed.

So, Lan Jingyi was allowed to stay with Ouyang Zizhen for few weeks. He would help him out with paper work, General Wen with medicine and made sure that Zizhen was taking care of his health as well. At Zizhen's part, he was a great support.

Lan Xichen was proud however, there was something else that had been bothering him. The purple flower that had pollinated his brain completely. Especially after younger's confession of the kiss.

He knew that Jiang Wanyin was not the type to just randomly kiss anyone because he felt like it. Does that mean that he held feelings for him? Lan Xichen didn't want to reach to conclusion and confront him. And what if he's wrong? He would only make himself look like a fool then.

"Zewu Jun!"

Too occupied by his thoughts, Lan Xichen didn't realize that he was already out of the library pavilion and staring blankly at the rabbits.

"Wei Gongzi?"

Wei Wuxian had just returned from taking his Lil Apple out for a walk. He was astounded to find the elder jade, with a face other than smile.

"Let me guess, it's about my brother, isn't it?" Wei Wuxian shot him a smug look. There was nothing they could hide from the Yiling Patriarch.

Lan Xichen sighed but didn't know what to say so Wei Wuxian took it upon himself to educate his brother in law.

"Zewu Jun, what do you think of my brother?"

Lan Xichen joined him on the rabbit field and sat down next to him. He could use those fur balls for some therapy.

"I like him...I-I mean, I like him as a friend."

"Zewu Jun oh Zewu jun, if you like him as a friend, why are you torturing yourself like that, hm?"

"Well I...I haven't fallen in love before so it's a bit...hard for me to grasp."

"Don't you love your brother?" Wei Wuxian faked a gasp.

"I do." Lan Xichen chuckled at that.

"Isn't it sweet to love him, I mean don't you want to cuddle him?"

"I do."

"Just imagine doing that and more with Jiang Cheng. Trust me he's a softie." Wei Wuxian winked at him while handing him a funny looking book.

Imagining a little intimacy wasn't bad, was it?

Lan Xichen returned to Hanshi, to do his homework. He had never seen this book before what kind of words of wisdom would it offer?

Lan Xichen wondered as he opened and his eyes just rolled out of his sockets. A cherry flushed face on a jade white skin. It took an eternity for Lan Xichen to pick that book up and put it away. He could not read such a thing. He went to sleep early that night, hoping his racing heart would calm down and when he closed his eyes an unexpected sight, came before him.

The soft wet hair mingled with lotus fragrance, the sharp jaw with flushed skin and the eyes so deep.

Lan Xichen woke up abruptly, horrified. He just had a wet dream.

Deep in the night, he was meditating under the cold spring, but the more he stayed in the water, the more wet Jiang Cheng appeared in his vision. His mind was going kaboom.

The following days, the older jade was found almost running around the Cloud Recesses, doing whatever he could find, however small the task. Anything that would keep him distracted. Wei Wuxian was enjoying the show from side line, laughing like a maniac.

"Wei Gongzi, have you seen Wangji?" Lan Xichen had few scrolls he needed his brother to look at, but he couldn't find him anywhere. Seeing Wei Wuxian alone was not a common sight for them anymore.

"Lan Zhan is away." Wei Wuxian casually said dangling his leg from the tree he was sitting on.

"Where might he have gone to?" Lan Xichen didn't recall Lan Wangji mentioning any outing.

"To Lotus pier."

"..."

"W-what business might he have there?" Lan Xichen asked. Why would he go there leaving his husband behind? It doesn't make sense.

"Zewu Jun, you broke the news for me about Lan Zhan." Wei Wuxian jumped off the tree and came face to face with Lan Xichen.

"Y-yes and?" Lan Xichen was not liking where this conversation was going.

"Since, you did that for your brother. Lan Zhan thought it was only natural to do the same for you." Wei Wuxian said with a huge grin on his face.

"What?!"

"Relax Zewu Jun, he went to reject my brother."

"Reject him?"

But they haven't even confessed anything.

"Why ofcourse, Lan Zhan noticed how restless you have been so he went there to reject instead of you. Isn't my Lan Zhan just a genius?"

Lan Xichen had stopped processing, its true he was avoiding it and needed to confront that man but he was not expecting his brother to take this step. If anyone should, it would be Lan Xichen to take responsibility of rejection. Without even blinking, Lan Xichen already mounted Shuoyue and soared to the sky.

"Hahahahahahaha, Lan Zhan you can come out."

Lan Wangji appeared from behind the trees. He had sealed his spiritual energy to not let his brother detect his presence.

. . .

Faster than the lightening itself, Lan Xichen crossed the sky to reach to Lotus Pier. All the things he thought about discussing and the script he prepared for himself mentally, was long forgotten. Right now, the only thing that mattered was seeing that man.

Lan Xichen would be lying if he said he wasn't attracted to the man. He was, and that was why he was afraid. What if back then, it really was spur of a moment? What if his actions were just out of whim with no meaning behind?

Wasn't it better to reject than to get rejected?

Lan Xichen swiftly landed on the ground and ran inside the pavilion, looking for that fine flower. He didn't mind the gaping mouths directed at him. He was introduced to the lotus pier just few days before and now he knew where he might find the young lotus.

The smell of incense invaded his nostrils and the air was warm because of paper money. In the center of huge lotus embellishment, inside the Ancestral hall, a lonely figure was kneeling.

Sensing a sudden presence behind, Jiang Cheng turned around only to be frozen.

The two sect leaders stared at each other for eternity. Jiang Cheng was not expecting the visitor and Lan Xichen was not expecting those tears in his eyes.

His body no longer had any control over him and in one leap, The Jade embraced the Louts.

"Z-zewu Jun! what's the matter? Are you alright?"

Jiang Cheng wanted to shouted and scold but the mellow person has never done such a thing before. And if it was support he needed; Jiang Cheng would give him that.

"Wanyin...I.."

"Calm down first, take a deep breath." Jiang Cheng ushered the Lan to steady himself first, he looked like he ran a marathon. The two didn't break the embrace and softly Jiang Cheng soothed circles on his back.

Moved by him deeply, Lan Xichen couldn't stop his tears from forming anymore. Jiang Cheng panicked feeling the warm droplet on his shoulder.

"Wanyin...I'm scared."

That sent Jiang Cheng to a very dark place. When Jing Ling asked for his parents for the first time, Jiang Cheng burst into tears, making the toddler afraid.

Jiujiu...I'm scared.

"It's okay, It's okay, I'm here."

Jiang Cheng didn't even want to imagine what the jade must have gone through to be scared like this. Was everything alright in the Cloud Recesses? Wei Wuxian didn't mention anything different in his letters.

Lan Xichen was scared, to form another bond out of blood. He was scared to be broken again, he was scared to love deep and not find an escape out of it. He was just scared.

Jiang Cheng kept soothing the elder until his sniffles were calmed down. He broke the hug and wiped those dewy tears out of the jade's eyes. He wouldn't push him for answers, in fact he was glad that after what he did, the elder still considered him worthy to share the pain.

"Wanyin, will you not ask me anything?" Calm enough to speak coherently, Lan Xichen decided to bring out the subject.

Jiang Cheng shook his head in negation, giving the elder a face.

"Then, would it be alright if I ask you something instead?"

Jiang Cheng nodded his head and allowed the jade to ask whatever he wanted. He would even tell about Yunmeng Jiang's treasures if the man simply asked.

"How do you feel about me, Wanyin?"

Given the current situation, Jiang Cheng was not expecting that topic to be brought out so quickly, He wanted to visit Cloud Recesses and face the consequences but Wei Wuxian stopped him saying, Zewu Jun needed a little time and so he paid heed to his words and waited until Lan Xichen could collect himself.

"...Can't you tell already that I like you?" Only Jiang Cheng would confess while taunting. His soft expression turned into glare but it went flopped when his cheeks were burning red.

A big warm smile adorned on the jade face with more pearls of tears. Jiang Cheng didn't tell if the guy was about to reject him to murder him. Neither option looked good.

"Wha- Y-You don't have cry, im the one getting rejected shouldn't I ge –"

His words were silenced by a spell, a warp lip reunion.

Jiang Cheng blinked several times, trying to understand what was going on, but the kiss had him melted. The scent of sandalwood was intoxicating him, enabling him from feeling anything but sensual. When the two were out of breath, Lan Xichen pulled away and gripped the baffled younger on his shoulders.

"W-What was that about?"

"Wanyin, I love you!"

With that another kiss was planted on his lips.

Before the heaven and earth, the two kept their souls connected. They would learn the ways of love it their own pace, right now just this moment was enough.

. . .

"....Lan...Zhan....Shouldn't we...prepare for weddings." Wei Wuxian said in between his breath, he had his legs wrapped around his husband's waist and the two were engaged in their everyday session.

"Whom?" Lan Zhan replied with another thrust. This original body of his beloved was recently deflowered and it was still tight and warm, making the pleasure shoot to ecstasy.

"A-Yuan and A-Ling. A-Cheng and Zewu Jun and of course, Jingyi and Zizhen."

"Zizhen?"

"Of course, you thought Fang Mengcheng? Hahaha"

"How so?"

The two were not really dating, so Lan Wangji wanted to know how his husband reach to that conclusion.

"He came to me before."

The nervous lad stood in front of the Jingshi, hoping his pleads would be heard by Yiling Patriarch. Wei Wuxian jumped on him and dotted on him, the moment he spotted him. He loved spoiling the little ducklings.

"So what brought my dear Zizhen here, today?"

Wei Wuxian flashed him a smile, assuring him that whatever chaos he brewed, he shall be accompanied by the Yiling Patriarch himself. So, no need to fear. Gaining courage, Ouyang Zizhen inquired.

"Wei Qianbei, it is true that you met with Maiden A-Qing?" Not that he doubted.

"Of course, I could not have forgotten that beautiful maiden."

"H-how was she?"

"She looked happy, to reunite with Daozhang."

"I see."

If the person he loved so much was happy in her after life, Ouyang Zizhen didn't wish to bring her back to the cruel world. His loved her too much, just like that.

"Thank you Wei Qianbei, for everything."

"Aish, why does it feel like a farewell thank you, huh?"

"It wasn't meant to be, at least not for you."

The two shared a peaceful silence before Wei Wuxian decided to speak.

"Zizhen."

"Hm?"

"You have loved for a long time, now give yourself the chance to be loved."

Zizhen formed a small smile and sweetly he uttered.

"I plan to do just that and more."

He would allow the current of love, carry him to an unknown place of fantasy.

"Trust me, Lan Zhan. I tend to pick these things up." Wei Wuxian boosted. This had him earnt a scowl from Lan Wangji, indicating

You managed to figure out their love already in Heavens but were clueless to my love even face to face.

A harder thrust was given to him as a punishment, making him even more tight.

"...Aiya...You fuddy duddy, how would I have known that prestigious Hanguang Jun would fall for someone notorious like me, Hm?"

The scowl softened and turned into a pout. Wei Wuxian took advantage of his change in demeanor and flipped their positions. A victorious smirk on his face. His old body was not a weak one and with the core, he was only stronger.

In a sensual husky voice, he called

"Lan Zhan, allow me to compensate for my crimes."

The love that started with exchange of their blades. The love that started under the moon light. That love was going to start another journey, in every life they will born into.
