Resolutions
This was written five years ago, and strangely enough, it is the same today - well, older, heavier, infrastructure crumbling, but other than that, pretty much the same.
Let's Not and Say We Did
I've made so many resolutions
That have gone without solutions
The idea of yet another
Begins to pall
What is there to be resolved
Another promise left unsolved
Running down this tiresome path
I've hit a wall
There is nothing else I need
I won't be planting any seed
Those days have given up
Their beck and call
Get out and join - try something new
There's still plenty you can do
But the effort and desire
Isn't there to do it all
Exercise or you'll get fat
I can't disagree with that
My girth ballooned to large
It once was small
But that was fine when I was younger
And past heartbeats were much stronger
So today, feet up relaxing
Says it all
Crack a book to sit and read
Pour another stein of mead
And as for resolutions . . .
Let's just ignore their call
