Prologue

Calliope Brock was going to die today.

She had a rare form of Pancreatic cancer. It had been so severe the doctors tagged her as a goner, to get her funeral ready, they even went on to create the paperwork that she had already passed away. Even though she was right there, at home, sitting in the living room waiting for anything to happen. Doctors considered her a lost cause, can't be saved.

Eddie Brock refused to think that way, and so, he worked long days and nights for a few years inside a hidden room in the house, in which acted as a secret lab. Where he did his work, and where he kept his symbiote friend, Venom.

Eddie was no mad scientist, nor was he a professional doctor. But, he refused to just sit there and watch Calliope wither away, into nothing, until she dropped dead. Not with all of the pain she was suffering from daily. She could physically feel her body shutting down every single day. And every moment was pure agony.

Eddie did his very best to find the Cure himself, even if it killed him. He didn't care, he was going to do it, mark his words. No-one could tell him that he couldn't. If they did, he would allow them to say hello to Venom and watch them be scared.

Until, one day, it was just too late...

Calliope had made her way back into the living room after getting herself a glass of water. She often felt like Rapunzel from the fairytales, not able to leave the house unless she wanted to speed up the process of her death. It was like the entire outside world was pure poison to this girl, and it just wasn't fair.

She reached the coffee table, right in front of the television. Going to make her way around and onto the couch. But that's when she felt pain. Something snapped, cracked and twisted. Something was wrong, as she brought her hand up to her chest and gripped tightly.

The hand that held the glass of water shook wildly, as it was no longer able to withstand the weight of said glass of water. It slipped out of her hand, and shattered on the hardwood floor. She quickly used her shaky hand to hold onto the other table right next to her that held the television, as the giant black screen wobbled lightly. She used it to try and keep her balance, as her breath quickened and felt ragged.

She didn't understand what was happening, her heart felt nothing but pain, and her left arm tingled like it had gone mad. Was her time up already? There was no way, the doctor had said she had a few more months left. She couldn't die now.

Her heart hurt even more, as her lungs squeezed themselves tightly shut. Calliope removed her hand from her chest, and used that hand to grab onto her throat. As she tried to suck in Oxygen, but it was impossible. It was like her exophages was tightly blocked.

And so with this, Calliope collapsed onto the ground, bringing the table with her. Causing the television to smash onto the hardwood floor beside her, making a loud noise to echo through the house.

In the hidden room of Eddie Brock. He is working on making his own Cure for his daughter, only to hear the loud ruckus.

"Calliope?" Eddie looked over at the closed door where the sound came from. "Is everything okay?"

But she didn't respond, and that was very unusual of her. She always answered, because she knew he worried all the time.

And so, Eddie put everything down and decided to take a few minutes break. As he opened the door, and went into the living room. Only to see the television has shattered and the table upturned, and Calliope struggling for life on the floor.

"Calliope?!" Eddie yelled as he ran over to her side, going onto his knees.

He grabbed onto her face and put pressure, opening her mouth for her. "Breathe, Calliope!" He said in a rush. "Breathe!"

But he noticed it wasn't working. And so Eddie scooped Calliope into his arms, and quickly brought her into his hidden room where he was trying to create his own Cure. Which, wasn't even near to being finished yet.

He laid her on a metal table, knocking stuff over, not even caring. And that's when he noticed it...

"Calliope?" Eddie asked. "Callie?" He repeated, this time using her nickname.

Calliope wasn't moving. Eddie brought his head over her chest, and there was no heartbeat. He grabbed her wrist, but yet no pulse.

"No-no-no-no-" Eddie breathed quickly. "Not yet. I'm not finished yet, but I was close!"

He then put his hands together and brought them against her chest, as he started CPR, pushing down. Hoping he would get her heart started again, at least, to give him some more time. He refused to let the Cancer win, and for him to lose everything. Not when he has worked so hard, and got this far. Only for it to go down the drain, like it was nothing.

"Come on, Callie." Eddie's breath was heavier, as he was on the verge of tears. "Come on!"

But it wasn't working. Calliope wasn't coming back. She was dead.

Calliope Brock was dead.

Eddie Brock gritted his teeth as he brushed his hair back with his hands, he was angry at himself for not working on the Cure harder and faster, and most importantly, on time. And so, he had a little bit of a fit. Yelling, throwing a few chairs around. And eventually calming down again, holding the edge of the table that Calliope laid on, as she began to slowly turn cold and blue.

But then, he had the craziest idea. Eddie looked back at the tank that held his symbiote, Venom. And he looked back down at Calliope. And looked back and forth, for a few seconds.

This could go two ways; this works and he gave his daughter the biggest responsibility that he had to deal with when he first obtained Venom. Or this doesn't work, and he became another failure.

But, had to try.

Eddie opened the tank, and allowed Venom to bond with him. "Come on, old bud." He spoke to the symbiote. "I need your help. I need you to do me a special favor. Please."

He then went back over to a lifeless Calliope, and grabbed onto her left wrist. Holding it, lovingly. Allowing Venom to bond with Calliope instead of himself.

As the symbiote seeped into her skin, sinking into her body, and molding himself through her. Normally Eddie wouldn't give Venom to just anyone. This showed he actually does care. He loved Calliope. He had to. She was his kid, how could he not?

And soon Venom did what had to be done, and Eddie waited. But nothing happened. He let out a pained sigh as he shook his head.

But, that's when he felt warmth flush it's way through her wrist and her body. This caused Eddie to open his eyes, and look down at her. Seeing as her skin turned fair once again, no longer a light blue.

And soon enough.

Calliope's chest expanded as she gasped in Oxygen harshly, like she had been stuck underwater for more than five minutes. Opening her eyes as fast as lightening.

The first think that was heard, was a light monstrous growl.

And it wasn't long until she heard a very deep voice inside her head as she could feel it's sneer.

"Welcome back, Calliope Brock."
