Chapter-3

Hey, lovelies! A teeny tiny chapter! More like a filler, actually. Sorry for the length, babes but this is what I could manage at the moment.

On the other hand, I have started writing ROOH chapter-31.😎 It will take some time though.😶

Those who commented and voted, you guys are giving me courage to continue with this story because I'm unusually nervous about this one.😫😫

Don't wanna rant today. Too tired.😪

Hope you enjoy the read!

Chapter-3

“So, did I pass the successful blind date quota?” With a hearty laugh, as if just said a good joke, Timmy asked.

“Mmm,” Johnny pretended to be thoughtful for a moment then said, “You’re blind all right but you suck at dates. At least you sucked at this one.”

That earned him a wide grin form his companion.

After the initial sock of discovering Timmy’s blindness, Johnny had brought a barrage of questions, ranging from “Are you blind since birth?” (“Yes, I am”), “How do you shave?” (“I use a razor”) to “How do you aim your pee?” (“Erm..”). He was quite aware of his intrusive questions and was ready to be told off by the other man but strangely, Timmy answered all his quarries patiently and did not smack or punch him. That piqued Johnny’s interesting about the man more.

“You are awfully honest,” Timmy stated, not unkindly, “but it suits you.”

“Oh? And how do you know what suits me or not?” Johnny asked. They were standing outside now, right in front of the parking lot.

Pursing his lips, Timmy looked contemplative; although, most of his expressions were hidden from the public eye by that dark glasses that Timmy still wore.

“Your voice has a certain openness to it, a- a devil-may-care kind of quality. It doesn’t bother the listener even when you are prying and I think it suits the honesty perfectly.”

Johnny’s eyebrows went up. He had received many compliments regarding his voice in his four year long career but never before someone described it this way. It was different.......in a pleasant way.

“Giving off handed compliment, I see. Aren’t you quite the charmer?” He teased prompting a lopsided chuckle from the other man.

“Your ego is inflated to begin with. Don’t really want to make it even bigger.”

“You say the sweetest things, Mr. Xu.”

“Trust me when I say that pleasure is all mine, Mr. Huang.”

And they both sniggered like two school kids.

“Hey, wait here; I’m gonna take my car out of the parking,” Johnny said taking out his car keys once the laughing subsided.

“Oh, um, yeah, sure. I should get going too,” Timmy replied hastily and extended his right hand to Johnny’s general direction, “It was nice meeting you.”

“I asked you to wait here, duffer, didn’t say you should get going! I’ll drop you off.”

“Oh, um, no no, that’s not necessary. I live just around the corner. No need to trouble yourself.”

“Then I’ll drop you just around the corner.”

“Why, it’s not necessary-“

“I have my ulterior motive. Shut up and wait here.” Johnny turned and walked away without giving Timmy anymore chance to natter. It was impolite to leave one’s date to go home alone, even though it was a bro-date. Yep.

Once in the car, Timmy huffed and said, “You know you are acting like quite a stalker.”

“I might be,” Johnny answered with an enigmatic tone, moving the car. He had gotten out of the vehicle after taking it out of the lot, to help Timmy get in. But surprisingly, Timmy reached the door with only the help of his stick and his steps were quite sure which made Johnny squint at Timmy’s covered eyes.

“But I have nothing to offer,” Timmy’s voice was playfully shocked.

“You might have,” answered Johnny and winked, which went unnoticed, of course, so he added, “I just winked at you.”

“I’m already regretting agreeing to meet you.”

True to his words Timmy indeed lived a few blocks away from the cafe, in a mediocre looking apartment building. Johnny eyed the building, mapping the surrounding area.
“Which floor is yours?”

“Not telling,” Timmy replied and got out of the car; Johnny did too. “You know you’ve really started to creep me out now,” Timmy added, “And why did you get out? You’re not planning to follow me up to my doorstep, are you?”

“Not telling!” Giving back Timmy’s own reply, Johnny let his voice carry the cheeky grin that appeared on his face and he had a distinct feeling that Timmy rolled his eyes hearing it.

As they said their goodbyes and parted Johnny stood there leaning on his car watching Timmy cross the road, that white stick clearing his way through this world of sight. Something in that lone retreating back, that slightly bowed head tugged at his heart.

Timmy might be regretting that phone call but Johnny did not. This was not a mistake. Timmy was not a mistake.
