Vishta: By praisyevermore
Genre: Fantasy
Chapters: Seven, including preface.
Description: Not a day goes by without odd occurrences in Vishta's life as a Queen.
Outside the safety of the castle is a war between Migza and tribesmen with strange abilities, almost otherworldly. Whereas, within the walls of the castle is a battle of trust as underhanded schemes threatens to strip her of her crown. But learning that the king is no longer the same man she thought she knew far disturbed her than the possible loss of her title.
What begins as a fairy tale turns into a nightmare when she realizes that to be the Queen of Migza, she has to have the mind of a strategist and a heart of steel. One that could handle political intrigues, peculiar tribesmen and a seemingly dangerous king.
Recommended Audience: 16+
Ok first off, the author spells his/her username with a lowercase "p" on purpose, that's not a mistake. Secondly, the title of the book was changed from "The Queen of Migza" to "Vishta." Enough about that...so...I can say two things. One, the book is professionally well done and two...it seems like a book you're forced to read during the beginning of class. That can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. This book currently stands at...228 reads and 24 stars...pretty good so far. Now here's the real question, did I 'enjoy' it? Let's find out.
1. Writing Style✍
Remember how I said this book was professionally made, here's why. The writing style reminded me of what I'd find in a real book. The text was smooth as each word connected with the next. I recall reading books like this in my math class, don't ask why, and the text matched this perfectly. You're not convinced? Well these examples will do the job for you.
"The Queen figure was made of wood, mottled by age and stained by careless hands. Nevertheless, it remained intimidating and elegant."
(Chapter One)
"A pang of sadness hit me hard on the chest, gradually turning into an agonizing sting, as though someone poured vinegar on a freshly opened wound."
(Chapter One)
"Pent-up, tumultuous emotions were worming their way out from their way out from years of imprisonment inside me."
(Chapter Two)
"Geviv, who was digging holes on me with her forbidding eyes, looking down on me from the second tallest tier of the dais."
(Chapter Two)
Amazing material.
2. Plot📖 (SPOILERS APPROACHING!)
Sigh...ok so I'll be using the description to assist me with this one since I didn't get it the first time I read. Uh-huh...hmm...ok I got it. So the story follows the life of Princess Vishta of Amganad who has kept the promise of marriage for a prince she met a while ago from Migza...until that promise came from a king. Issues inside the castle continues to get Vishta closer to losing her title but that man she knew before who had changed was something else...pretty good plot.
Here's the thing, I didn't understand anything through chapters one through five and the plot reveals itself in the latest episode. Then again, I never read the description because the story usually explains everything for me. So...before you read the story...please read the description before you become lost like a five year old in Walmart.
3. Characters🙋♂️🙋♀️
So I didn't anything...unique about the character Vishta other than her way of detecting change in the air when she sleeps. She seemed like an average princess following her duties which disappointed me considering this is a fantasy book. The characters just feel labeled to their roles and I couldn't find anyone that stood out to me.
Now I'm not saying the characters completely sucked, I'm just saying that were predictable and realistic, something a fantasy book shouldn't have much of, fantasy books are supposed to allow the author to break away from standard books and fill the page with imagination and originality.
I didn't despise the characters, I just didn't see how they were different from one another besides the fourth princess being as you say, a horny female dog.
4. Environmental and Character Descriptions 👁🏞
Aww yes, this is what makes the book truly shine. The environmental descriptions were just lovely and allowed me to receive a perfect image of the fictional world and the objects around it. The character descriptions were also lovely and decent for eyes as I scanned chapters up and down for this review. Such examples of these descriptions are as followed.
"A dull green tunic that fell to my knees and a white underskirt that reached my ankle, both were held by a blue sash to accentuate my waist."
(Chapter One)
"A slim boy, wearing all black, was dangling like a bat with his feet hooked on the edge of the roof. His dark hair tied in a bun and the bottom half of his face was hidden by a white mask."
(Chapter One)
"Reaching the humongous double-door painted in gold."
(Chapter Two)
"He did not truth have the features of a Migzan person. He seemed to be half-blood of Migza with his dark hair and pale skin, and a half Westerner with his emerald eyes.
(Chapter Two)
One word, amazing.
5. Originality💡
Ok, time to break it down. So there are obviously other books that borrow the same tone. What makes those books separate is the overall plot, characters, and character development. This book really had the plot that interested me though that plot is a bit cliche. I mean, I recall a similar plot in either another or film but I just cannot search for the fragment that is scattered in my memory bank. Anyhow, the main character hiding a secret is excessively used and what is up with just about every princess book relating to a prince? It makes females seem as if THEY need a man rather being the other way around. I suggest a lovely book called "The Runaway Queen" by FloatingMagpie for some inspiration.
6. Overall Tone🎭
So the story kept the repeating tone throughout most of the chapters until the latest installment. This tone consisted of either feelings of dullness, to suspense, to a calming feeling, and rinse and repeat. Now in my opinion, the book felt...slow. Before I get angry comments, you have to realize that this is true in some books.
I get that the author might have been waiting for the perfect to strike the reader with something unexpected but the book takes its sweet time. The action does turn up a notch in the latest chapter however and it felt amazing to read something I didn't expect.
With that out the way, it is time to see where this book falls.
Rating Score: 🌟🌟🌟 and a half
Yes, three and a half. This book was excellent in the writing style and descriptions though I couldn't say the same for the rest. I honestly feel this book can be more than what it is, I wanted to reward four stars but that seemed like too much. In terms of errors, they only consisted of capitalizing unnecessary word like general.
With all that, I hope you continue to make more chapters and if you all could, please check out his/her book. Hey, I don't assume gender here. One last book huh, five chapters...school romance...all righty...goodbye my fellow readers!
