Chapter Five

"so this is the way how I suppose it's gonna progress, if it goes exactly the way as I perceive it, I suppose no one, I repeat no one could dare to hold back our success.........so with that I think we should......."

I was cut off by the sudden knock on the conference room door.........I wondered who could it be when my staff has been given clear instructions to not disturb me when I'm attending any meetings..........today was a big day for me and my firm as I have been besotted upon the prestigious Government project, all thanks to my team's efforts and their never-say-die spirit........

"Ma'am.......Mr. Singhania is here.........he wants to meet you as soon as possible"

How stupid of me, did I just forget that Ved was supposed to come over with that guys whom I was supposed to hire..........Lord, how forgetful I have been getting these days.........I guess it's time for me to visit a nutritionist or something of that sort, and grab some doses of memory pills..........I nod at my employee immediately, as I realize I have kept her waiting for quite some time.........

"yeah...........just make them seated........serve them refreshments, I'll be right there.........in another 15 minutes......"

She obliged and went off, as I proceeded to quickly wrap up my meeting, so that I could join my guests at the earliest..........my team has always been a supportive one, understanding the graveness of the situation, (my employees never disturb me in between a meeting, until and unless it's something really unavoidable), they coaxed me to carry on with the rest of my jobs, assuring me that they will take care of the rest of the detailing........

I walked out of the conference room with a huge grin pasted on my face.........how blessed I have been to get such an amazing team on-board..........they are the real angels of my life........I turn my attention towards the hoarding proudly displaying the name of my firm...........I still remember the day I had started off with my fashion designing firm..........with a table and 2 chairs, I didn't even have a proper roof above my head..........Ele had been my biggest support throughout.........from helping me out with my troubled delivery to managing to make the ends meet for me.........she has always been there besides me like a rock..........someone on whom I can rely upon without a second thought...........

I still remember how she didn't blink an eye before selling off her scooty, just because I needed money to buy certain basic necessities for my firm...........this was way before she married Ved..........we used to stay together then, I didn't even have funds to buy a few sheets of paper and felt pens..........that's when she sold her most favorite possession, just for my sake........

"bikes to aur bhi aa jayengi Sona.........par yeh mauka dubara nahin milega.........just grab the opportunity that's knocking at your door step........I will manage rest of it"

That assuring hand of hers still continues to be on my back.........I feel so safe and secure with her being around me..........coz I know, even if I fault or err somewhere in life, I have someone to stabilize me..........and with the addition of Ved to our sweetest family, this feeling has become all the more stronger.......I walk into my cabin, occupied in my own set of thoughts.........as I quite ignore the person sitting on my left to directly greet Ved..........

"uhh.........Hii Ved.........I'm so sorry, it just slipped of my mind that we were supposed to meet today........I hope you didn't have to wait for a long time........would you like to have something"

This feeling..........I don't know what I should call it..........there's something strange about how I'm feeling right now..........I just can't describe it in words........I feeling of knot forming in my stomach.........just like I felt on the day when.........when.........when Dev had taken me to his place after our wedding.......on our official first night.........when I had dressed up for him as a bride, and he was about to claim me forever.........God, why does everything remind me of Dev these days?

My head shot up as Ved marched towards me with a glint of happiness in his eyes.........why was he so very excited, was it because I had promised him to hire his ex-employee?..........well that reminds me, I have to acknowledge the other person present in my cabin as well.........wouldn't he find me rude, the fact stands that I just walked past him without even sparring him a glance..........

Just as I turn around to greet this man, who would now be my employee, Ved interrupts yet again........

"that's fine Sonakshi........every entrepreneur has a firm to look after.........one cannot expect you to turn up at once we inform you about our arrival.........I want you to stop feeling guilty and meet my friend, who's going to join you soon and be a great help to you for expanding your business..........Meet my friend, DR"

He laid out his hand to introduce me to his pal..........no, this can't be true........this just cannot be true.........Dev??............how could he turn up here............he had left me, cheated me..........he was the reason for me being ousted from my house, he was the reason why I had to deliver my child hidden from this big bad world.........why has he returned now?............did he get to know about my newly established firm from Ved?..........had he come to snatch it from me as well?..........does he plan to leave me abashed yet again?

"ermm.........Hii..........Dev Raichand..........nice to meet you Ma'am........I was really worried when I had to move to Delhi for my personal reasons...........but then Ved told me that he knows you and you wouldn't mind hiring me for your firm...........I would just say thank you so much for this favor........I will never disappoint you as far as my job is concerned........"

Wait a minute..........what was he speaking?...........I mean why was he speaking as though he didn't knew me..........I mean common, we were not some strangers.........we have been married for a while and yes, we have managed to produce an offspring as well.........although he isn't aware about it, but then atleast he should recognize me right.........but as off now, he didn't seem to........

"Ved I need to have a word with you.........before I.........I hire him"

A look of worry etched his handsome face as I again felt ashamed at my thoughts.....I mean, how could I?.............he had dumped me in my heavily pregnant state, he didn't even bother to call me once to know if I'm alive or dead.........and here I'm busy drooling over his chiseled features...........how shameless can I be..........I have been gawking at him since the time I have laid my eyes on him, and he seems to be least bothered...........I mean it was he who had left me midway in our journey together........and now he comes up all of a sudden..........behaving as if he has done nothing.........as if he doesn't even know me..........how could you Dev?

"Sonakshi..........is there any issue...........I mean you had promised me, that you would help out my friend..........please don't back out now, I know you have a sort of possessive attachment towards your firm..........but trust me, he won't do any harm..........he's here to help you out, just give him a chance.........please"

God!!!!how do I deny him now..........does he even know my dark past?...........I guess not, otherwise he would have never got Dev here.........I'm sure Dev must have fooled him with his charming nature.........the cheater that he is.........wonder what all he must have told Ved to get a direct entry into my firm..........I'm sure he's sole motive is to destroy this happiness of mine as well.......

"yeah I know.........but still.........can we just talk.........I mean, its........inevitable, sort off"

I trailed off, as both the men in the cabin looked up at me as if I had demanded their kidneys..........these men I tell you.........they always want things to go according to their whims and wishes.........a certain deviation from their likes and dislikes, and their entire calculation goes wrong.........they behave as if they are the only ones who are being wronged...........

"urmm..........should I.......stay out?.........I mean you guys chat while I tour the office space"

This man..........why does he always have to butt in when I talk..........impossible.........he has always been like this, right since the time I have been in contact with him.........sometimes I wonder how I fell in love with him...........but then my heart tells me that I just couldn't have helped it.........this man still looks gorgeous and irresistible...........lord, how am I going to face him daily now?..........

"ah.........Ved..........I was just thinking that I should wait for some more days before I hire him..........I mean I just don't know what sort of a person he is.........let him be in and around the firm, I will decide upon his position when I'm satisfied that he's efficient enough"

Right now the only thing which mattered was sending off Vedant before I confront that douche..........we certainly couldn't battle it out before Ved..........I mean common, first of all he was Elena's husband, plus he wasn't aware of the biggest truth we had hidden from him so far...........my Pia...........and if he gets a sniff of our entangled relationship, then there's going to be an explosion for sure..........something which I have to avoid at any cost.........

"that doesn't matter Sonakshi...........for a startup, you can even employ him as your personal assistant...........believe me he's very good when it comes to managing schedules, arranging meetings.........the list is unending.........give him a chance Sis..........I swear he won't disappoint you"

There you go then, so it will be..........this man has given me the hardest time of my life...........now its my turn to make his life hell............I'm definitely going to hire him as my P.A............coz he needs to learn some manners first of all..........and trust me Dev Raichand..........you are certainly going to curse your luck for having stepped into my firm..........your bad time begins now!!!!!!!!!
