STEP ONE. On a blank canvas turn on your straight ruler and mirror ruler. Try to get them to match as much as you can. I turned my rulers 18%. Then you'll take any brush you want (I recommend any hard edge brush) and you'll draw on the edges so the corners are filled. They can be as wide as you want. They can also be any color you want. I just did black cause it's easier.

STEP TWO. In a new layer, color the remaining space any other color. I did white cause why not. Make that layer the bottom layer.

STEP THREE. You'll open your finished cover and duplicate it so it shows up two times. You drag one of the copies below the black layer but above the white layer. (I forgot to actually screenshot that part sksk)

STEP FOUR. You'll take the first image and flip it both vertically and horizontally

STEP FIVE. Now you'll clip each cover image the the layer below it.

STEP SIX. This is optional but if you want a shadow to kinda separate the layers a bit more, you'll create a new layer in between layers 2 & 3. On the new 3rd layer you'll go to the effects / filters tab. You'll find style and drop shadow.  Put it on upper layer and adjust how you want. Save when done.

As you can see, you can use one render, multiple renders or an actual image. Whatever you think works best really.
