21|| pool dips and ditching the kids

"Just a normal day, taking a dip in the pool while kicking ass and following criminals."

Pentathlon Hotel, D.C., October 2016-

"Come on!" Liz swatted Alison with her towel. "You've been taking forever to find your swimsuit!" She screeched, almost tackling Ali.

"I know! I know!" Alison pushed Liz away, digging deeper into her suitcase. "I put it at the bottom of my bag!" She kept digging, eventually finding the maroon bikini.

"Aha!" Alison whooped, throwing out the swimsuit. "Give me two minutes, I promise. I'll be ready."

Liz nodded. "I'm raiding the candy bar while we're waiting. You better hurry." She laughed, walking over to the small kitchen counter.

Alison rolled her eyes. "Your bucks to spend, not mine." She threw her arms up, walking into the restroom.

She quickly slipped on the swimsuit, throwing off her oversized sweater and washed out jeans. Alison tugged down on the suit, it being slightly revealing.

Ali bursted out of the bathroom, swiping an oversized Midtown high blue sweater off of Liz's bed. "I'm ready now!" She glanced over at Liz, who was just opening the door.

"Good." Liz grinned, carrying a bucket of candy. "Cause I was about to ditch you in the dust. Come on, we've gotta sneak all the way around the bend."

Alison gave Liz a devilish look, raising her eyebrow at the senior. "Sneaking out of the hotel room? Sounds like a plan to me." She ran to the edge of the doorway, Liz holding the door open.

Liz pushed Alison out the door. "Oh my god, let's go. The other kids are waiting." She threw her towel over her shoulder, and held the ice bucket filled with candy with both arms.

Alison looked out the hallway, the other kids waiting there. "Oh-" She looked breathless at the other kids. "Hi guys." Ali waved meekly.

"Sup Ali!" Flash whooped from the back. "Are you joining us at the pool?" He was wearing no shirt, unlike the rest of the guys. It made it kinda awkward, like he was trying-but failing- to pick up girls.

"Am I in a swim suit?" Alison fired back at Flash, looking at him annoyed. "Yes, yes I'm joining you at the pool."

"Flash, you really need to learn how to pick up the clues." Abraham laughed, pressing his little bell for comedic purposes.

"How the hell does he still have that bell?" Alison muttered, slinging her towel over her shoulder.

Not even a second after Alison finished her sentence, Liz walked out of her hotel room. "Hey guys," She smiled widely, her floral one piece suit looking fabulous on Liz. "We ready?"

When the group all nodded, Liz ticked her head to the side. "Then let's go! We've only got two hours before the pool closes!" She ran off across the curve of the hotel.

"Liz!" Alison hollered, laughing. "Wait up!" She jogged to catch up with Liz, almost running into Peter as he got out of his hotel room.

"Hey Liz," Peter smiled awkwardly. His navy blue hood was covering his hair, Peter's jacket sleeves all the way down.

"Peter!" Liz exclaimed, walking past Peter before slowing down. "Perfect timing! We were gonna go swimming." She turned around to face Alison and the rest of the gang, gesturing for them to run past her.

"Come on, come on." Liz whispered, Alison being the first one to run past her. Ali helped the rest of the kids sneak off, before staying by Liz's side.

When all the kids jumped past Peter, waving greetings at the sophomore. Finally, Flash jumped past Peter, slapping Peter's ass as he passed by.

"What were you doing Parker?" Alison gave Peter a cold stare. "Off to your Stark Internship again?"

"I was-I was uh going to study. In the business center. " Peter gestured to the downstairs lobby, gripping onto his beige backpack.

"Peter," Liz sighed, "You don't have to study, you're like the smartest guy I've ever met." She scoffed, a hint of pride hidden in her voice. "And besides, um, a rebellious group activity the day before competition is good for morale."

Peter gave a skeptical look at Liz, a small smirk on his face. Or maybe it was just he was holding a frog in his mouth. That would be one of life's greatest mysteries. "Mhm?" Peter hummed, confused.

"Well," Liz faltered, brushing a piece of her hair. "I read it in a Ted Talk, so. I mean I heard it in a Ted. Talk." She gestured awkwardly at Peter. "And I read a coaching book." She rushed out quickly, her eyes darting from side to side.

"Wow- are you really-" Peter started, adjusting his position. "This is really important to you?" His face folded into one of nervousness.

"Yeah." Liz shrugged. "I mean it's our future. I'm not going to screw it up." Her face softened, looking at Peter more kindly.

"Besides," Alison butted in. "We raided the mini bar and these candy bars were like, eleven dollars. Cause we ate all of my stash." She giggled.

"Yeah!" Liz exclaimed, tossing a candy bar to Peter. "So get your trunks on, and lets go!" She turned around to face Ali. "Let's go Ali-Cat, we've got a pool to crash."

Alison shoved Liz as she walked down over to the elevator. "I told you not to call me that!" She exclaimed, rushing over to the rest of the kids. "You're gonna pay for that later!" Ali squealed, laughing a little but lit as Liz shoved her back.

"Are you sure you guys are ready?" Alison teased, looking down at the kids in the pool. "Cause I don't think that you can handle my dive."

"Show us what you got!" One kid challenged, opening his arms up wide in the pool. He was halfway through having a splash off with another kid on the team.

"Yeah!" Rebecca hollered, cheering for the Yearbook girl to jump into the pool. "Let's see what you can do!" She turned and joined the splash fight, squirting up water at the two boys.

Alison laughed, and ran up and did a great dive into the pool. She made her way all the way down to the bottom, before rocketing back up to the surface. "How's that?"

"Exceptionally subpar." Liz joked sternly. "You've got to work on your diving skills if you want to make the swim team Miss Marnell."

"You want to go, Liz Allen?" Alison challenged Liz, beginning to slowly swim over to the girl. "I can push you off the ridge of that hot tub in an-" She snapped. "Flash."

"Oh yeah?" Liz smiled, kicking her legs at the surface of the water. "I'd like to see you try." She raised an eyebrow. "Five bucks to say you can't."

"Five bucks to say I can." Alison smiled, crossing her arms next to Liz. "And I have to do it in less than a minute."

"Deal." Liz kicked some water into Alison's face. "And your time starts.... now!" She yelped, ready to get taken down.

Alison smirked at Liz, jumping up and pulling down rapidly on Liz's legs. Squealing, Alison tugged down at Liz's ankles.

"No- no no!" Liz entered the pool, making a huge splash as she got in the water. She spit out the chlorinated water as Alison let go of Liz's ankles, Ali bursting out with laughter.

"Oh my god-" Liz exclaimed lightly. "I owe you five dollars now." She laughed, hopping back up on the ridge.

"I suppose you do." Alison joked, hopping yo beside Liz. "But that can be equivalent to a Starbucks or a Delights run back in Queens."

"I can live with that," Liz quirked her head, her mouth firming into a neutral expression. "And remind me not to bet up against you again."

Alison smiled, turning her head to look up at the night sky through the skylight. But, instead of a bright shining moon, she saw a little hero donning red spandex.

"What the hell...." Ali muttered, peering back up at the Spider-Man. When she looked up at the hero again, however, he was gone.

"Hey Liz," Alison tapped Liz on the shoulder. "I'm going to go use the restroom and take a shower. I'm kind of beat. I'll see you in the morning, ok?"

Liz turned around to look at Alison. "Awww," Her face turned into a sort of pout. "Well, I'll see you tomorrow." She sighed, kicking the water again.

"Yeah," Alison muttered, running a hand through her wet hair. "I'll see you tomorrow." She walked across the ridge to the pool deck, grabbing a towel and running out of the area.

Shaking her head out, Alison quickly threw her wet hair into a high ponytail, adding in the blue extensions into her wet and wild hair. So it was useful to have a mini backpack on the go.

Rushing into the elevator, Alison pressed the button for the floor she was staying on repeatedly, trying to get up to the room ASAP. "Come on," She gritted out exasperated.

The elevator took a while to get up to the floor, and Alison raced the floor to get to the hotel room. Grabbing the key out of her pocket, Alison inserted the key into the slot, stumbling into the room.

"Case, case," Ali raced around the room, searching for the briefcase. "Where did I hide this blasted thing?"

Tearing apart the room, Alison found the briefcase hidden in her closet. Pulling off the top of the case, Alison quickly grabbed the suit.

She tore off the bikini, still semi wet, and grabbed some proper undergarments. Slipping those on in a hurry, Alison pulled on the suit.

Tugging on her ponytail one final time, Alison neatly put the room back together the best she could. "Alrighty." She rubbed her hands together, hopping up and down in anticipation. "Let's go spy on the Spider-Man."
