Aurora

"Aurora my leg." Adam says through gritted teeth. I quickly get off of him and he straightens

"I'm sorry. Did I hurt you?" I ask quickly wide-eyed.

"No, it's ok." He says that although his face looks like his leg was just broken again.

"Let me take you to your class." I have probably made his injury way worse.

"I can go on my own Aurora." He says, looking serious. Oh shoot, did I upset him?

"You are obviously limping through classes. Taking help from others once in a while won't hurt Adam." I roll my eyes at his stubbornness.

"Your eyes are going to get stuck like that if you roll your eyes like that." He says jokingly.

Instead of replying, I put his right arm around my shoulder so I can support him. Slowly we start walking. He was hardly putting any weight on me even though he was still limping. We walked like that for a few minutes.

"Lean on me. We are not getting anywhere like this." I was starting to lose my patience.

"I am heavy, there's no way I am leaning on you." He shakes his head. Just then a thought comes into my head.

"Where are your.... What do you call them, the one which helps you in walking?"

"Crutches?" Adam filled in.

"Yeah. Where are those?" I looked at him.

"I forgot them in the library." He said sheepishly. He is so cute.

" Let me bring them." I quickly walked off towards the library before he could protest.

They were at the place we were sitting earlier. I brought the crutches to him.

"See, I can walk with them now. You should quickly go to your class before you get late anymore." He is so stubborn.

"Okay bye." I sigh. Starting to turn away from him.

"I have one more thing to say."

"Yeah?" I ask hopefully. I don't even know what hope I am talking about here.

"I was feeling down today, but after talking with you I feel a lot better. Thank you for cheering me up. When you feel down, you can talk to me too. I hope I can cheer you up too, Rora." He smiles. I blush his words. His smile widens on seeing my blush.

"Yeah me too." Saying this I literally ran away from him. My heart was beating so fast that he could have probably heard it.

Wait. What did I say again? Me too? What me too you idiot! I can't even talk with a boy.

I kept on replaying Adam's words in my head throughout the whole day. I probably looked like a creepy stalker when he caught me looking towards his table during lunch. He smiled at me everytime. Which was probably eight times in total. The whole day passed in a flash.

"How was school?" My dad asked just as I reached home.

"It was good. How was your day dad?" He was hardly home these days.

"I don't have work today. I just came home from visiting the lawyer." He said sitting on the couch.

"Oh." I really didn't know what to say.

"Come sit here, I have something to discuss with you." He said, patting the couch beside him a warm smile on his face. I sat beside him.

"I didn't think I would ever say this, but it's just the three of us now. I know you have grown up, but you are still a kid in my eyes. You'll always be my little girl, and I know how much you love your mother. I know it must be hard that she left. It's affecting all of us. I will try my best, Aurora, to be the best father I can. I always want what's best for you. The three of us can be a family and let's not forget the little one which will come soon." His words make me tear up.

"No dad I have understood you are all I need. You work hard for all of us. I know it wasn't your fault." My emotions get the best of me and I pull him in a big hug. He hugs me back, chuckling at my childishness.

"It's okay we are going to be a happy family again." He rubs his hand soothingly on my back till I calm down.

"Now on a serious note, we need to talk about Cara."

"What about her dad?"

"Do you know who the guy is? I know whenever I ask her she says she doesn't know who it is. But I have a feeling she is hiding something. She even cries every night." He frowns. How did he know that she was crying? He was barely home the last few days.

"How did you know that she cries?"

"Parents know everything about their kids." Was his simple answer. Yeah right.

"Do you think we should talk with her about this?" Dad looked like he was planning something.

"I think we need to have a discussion with her. There is something definitely bothering her."

Just then Cara comes into the room with a bag of chips in her hand.

"Cara dear, we need to discuss something with you." Dad says looking at her.

"Not now. I am busy."

"You definitely are." I say sarcastically under my breath, fighting the urge to roll my eyes at her.

"Aurora! I am busy unlike you." She says frowning.

"Cara, stop picking a fight with your sister and come here now! You definitely are not busy." Dad scolds her.

She sits beside dad muttering something under her breath about how I was the one who was picking a fight with her.

"Is there something bothering you these days Cara? We are here, you can talk with us whenever you want, you know?" Dad starts the conversation.

"Even if you say that no one is actually here to hear me out."

"What do you mean we are always here to hear you out. You can talk with Aurora and I anytime."

"Yes you can talk with us anytime." Even though we fight a lot, we are still sisters.

"You both are so busy you guys are rarely home." She mutters.

"I am sorry Cara if we made you feel like that. We can try to start being home more often."

"Really?" Cara looks up at us, her eyes glossy.

Something about that made me feel guilty. She definitely felt lonely. She felt that there was no one to hear her out which wasn't true.

"I thought that you guys have stopped liking me because I got....I got pregnant. One of the reasons mom left was because I was pregnant." Cara choked out.

"Neither of us have stopped loving you because of Cara. I love you so much. There is nothing you could do to ever take that away. I'd like to believe your mother feels the same way. I do believe that you should have been more careful, but what's done is done. Let's look at the bright side of it. There is going to be a little one among us soon. You are going to be a great mother."

"I don't know dad. I don't think I will be a good mother. Everyone knows how immature I am. Or what if the baby does not like me? Everyone is so disappointed with me right now. You don't know dad how my friends reacted when they got to know about me being pregnant. How my professors reacted to the reason I took time off college. What if I disappoint my baby too? Like I disappointed mom."

She looks down, I feel a pang of sympathy and reach out to touch her arm. This helps her because she looks up and smiles at me.

"Cara, you are not a disappointment. The baby is not going to be disappointed either. You will be a great mother. I know you are trying hard and I am sure the baby will see that you love them too."

"Which friends of yours were like that? Tell me!" I say angrily. How can they call themselves friends like that?

"Thank you Dad and Aurora." She says sniffing ignoring my question.

"I know we have already asked you this, but let me ask again. Do you know the guy? Did you find out who he is?"

"Yes."
