Phil's POV-

Dear diary? Journal? Weird spirits that could live in this small booklet of paper?,
The seniors and freshmen are all taking a trip to this huge library uptown for star lab. We've had it every few years for our entire schooling careers, and this will be my last. It's basically a giant inflatable igloo with a giant light and cylinders to put on it that project constellations around the interior. It's gotten kind of boring for most students, but it makes me even more excited, because I get to finally talk to Daniel James Howell, the most gorgeous boy I've ever laid eyes on. His chocolatey eyes kinda make me want to dissolve, and every time I see him push that brunette fringe out of his eyes, i imagine my own fingers doing that someday.

But who am I kidding? For the sake of Pete Wentz and all that is emo, he probably doesn't even like guys. That's how it always is.

Let's just hope things work out the way I want them to.
-Philip

I put my mandatory journal into my bookbag, zipping up its pocket and slinging it over my shoulder.

"I'm sure you all have your permission slips. I'll be collecting them as you exit the school to get on the buses. If they're in your lockers, please go retrieve them."

"Hey, you're Phil Lester! The school newspaper's co-writer!" The voice infiltrates my ears, and I feel myself falling apart as I turn around to see Dan, his hand eagerly stuck out to shake mine. I nervously shake hands with the younger boy before handing him this morning's copy.

"I didn't think anybody read." He nods excitedly.

"Your style of writing is so unique. You're so humourous, and you're not afraid to tell the truth. That's what we need more of in this world."

"Gee, thanks. I appreciate that."

"Do you wanna sit with me on the bus to the library?"

"Of course!" He smiles, a slight blush gracing his features.

"Boys, get to your homerooms. Teachers are taking attendance." We separate and head our different ways.

We both climb into the bus, choosing a seat in the very back. My friends, Chris and PJ, (who, might I add, are both EXTREMELY in love with eachother) are sitting directly in front of us, and my other friend, Louise, is sitting to the side of us. I hear the two boys speaking about their plans for prom, and I glance over to see Louise checking her makeup in a compact mirror.

"Your eyeliner looks very nice."

"Philip, who is this boy?"

"His name is Dan. Dan, this is Louise."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Dan. And thank you. I appreciate compliments on things I work hard on." He nods and reaches across my chest to shake her hand. God, his hands are so beautiful. I know it sounds really strange, but I always look at people's hands to admire the features and curves of them. I like imagining how they'd feel, cupping my face as their owners kiss me, or playing with my hair.

"It appears that we've arrived. Everyone, remain seated and wait for directions." Our teacher steps out of the bus and makes some hand gestures to the other class's teacher. I see a thumbs up, and I grab my bag from Dan's lap. We both walk off the bus, and the teacher holds the library door open as we walk inside of the ginormous, bookshelf clad building.

"Wow," he begins. "This place is so beautiful!" I chuckle at his overly excited grin, noticing the dimples that form whenever he smiles.

"Now, class, we'll be entering the Astrology hall. I'll need you all to line up in the order you'd like to sit in." Dan and I are already standing side by side. I figure that's good. "We'll now be walking into the Starlab." The huge, grey, inflatable dome almost feels welcoming as I climb inside. I sit down, leaning back a bit as Dan sits down next to me. We all become seated, and the astrologist turns off the light. The interior quickly chills itself, and we huddle a bit closer to keep the heat in.

"You seriously didn't wear a jacket?" I ask him. He shakes his head, and I giggle a bit. "It's literally a freezer in here."

"You could be a gentleman and offer me yours." He jokes. I blush a little bit and wrap my arms around him.

"This may help a bit more." I pull him a bit closer until he's nearly sitting on my lap. As the teacher explains the different stars and how the constellations got their shapes, Dan points out which ones he can relate to, and I do the same. I finally muster up the courage that I wished I usually had, and whisper in his ear.

"Will you be my Little Dipper?" He grins and nuzzles into the crook of my neck, gently placing a kiss there.

"Only if you'll be my Big Dipper."

"Deal." The universe is definitely on my side.

(whoops sorry this was probably pretty shitty. oh well. I thought it was adorable.
title inspiration was Bright by Echosmith. It's a really pretty song.)
