Sabrina was the perfect amount of tipsy when they arrived at the East Wing of Alfea. Riven's arm was casually thrown over her shoulder the second they stepped into the room and Sky ran away before they could even blink, leaving Stella to storm off in the other direction.

That was where their relationship became toxic. Stella hated when he was being cold and distant despite him having every right to be. But then again, relationship meant communication and they were 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 terrible at it.

"So . . . first drinks and then beer pong?" Riven asked her with a small smirk, "And then when I get you drunk enough, we can dance."

An involuntary chuckle left her lips as she nodded and smirked back at him, "Well, it is tradition."

Sabrina let him grab her hand and lead her toward the drinks. They were always a little too touchy, no matter how mad they were at each other. Other people found it weird but it was normal to them. It was probably because their love languages were physically touch and because Riven was a pretty touch-starved child.

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴, 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵?

She decided to push aside the conversation that she had with Stella and Rain that morning and let loose for a change.

-

Half an hour later, Sabrina was playing beer pong with Riven and Sky against Brandon, Bloom, and Aisha. They had to force Brandon to be on Bloom and Aisha's team even though he suggested they played girls against guys. Riven and Sabrina were not going to break the tradition of them and Sky always being on the same team.

Sabrina's team was winning because Brandon drank a little too many times and Bloom drank twice. Sabrina and Riven only had one drink while Sky drank at least five. ❪ So much for not drinking. ❫

"This beer is hot." Sabrina noted with a smile of disbelief on her face after she picked up the drink when Aisha managed to put the ball in it. She watched Bloom's lips tug into a big grin and chuckled to herself. "Bitch."

"Drink up!" Bloom laughed, clearly already drunk, "Them's the rules!"

Riven chuckled at the grimace on Sabrina's face after she set the glass down. He picked up a ball and threw it in one of their glasses. It landed in Aisha's but immediately jumped out before the drinks in front of Sabrina, Riven, and Sky exploded on them.

Sabrina stared at the water on her light purple and muttered "What the fuck?"

Aisha gave her an apologetic look while avoiding Riven's glare. "Sorry, honestly. Sorry, I'm gonna get some paper towels."

Bloom let out a light giggle at Riven's anger which caused him to glare at her too and snap, "What?"

The redhead simply waved him off and moved to stand next to Sky in order to fill more glasses up.

"It was getting a little too hot here anyways." Sabrina sighed and patted Riven's back, "Relax, Riv. It's just alcohol."

Riven's shoulders relaxed at her words and he nodded, "Yeah . . . but you know how I get when I'm drunk."

"Oh, I know." Sabrina gave him a knowing smirk which caused him to do a double-take and blink in surprise.

𝘞𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 ── 𝘯𝘰.

He knew it was probably the alcohol talking but he still couldn't ignore the suggestive look she was sending him nor the smirk on her face and most definitely not the way her arm lingered on his bare forearm.

The illusion was broken when she turned to smirk at Sky, "So much for not drinking tonight."

"But that one is a bit more fun than Stella." Riven commented and pointed at Bloom. "Although . . . she reminds me of Roxy."

❪ Drunk Sabrina was considering hooking up with him a few minutes ago but now she was more likely going to punch him rather than sleep with him. ❫

Bloom chuckled, completely clueless about the tension rising between the four friends, "Who's Roxy?"

"Riv, don't." Brandon shook his head and gave his best friend a warning look.

Riven gave Bloom a look of fake surprise, "You live with Stella and you don't know what happened to her last roommate?"

"I don't." Bloom said with a confused smile, "But I certainly would love to."

"See, Roxy was one of our best friends until she flirted a little bit too much with Sky here." Riven explained.

"Riv, I would never ── "

"Oh, of course not." He cut Sky off, "Not while you two were together anyway. But that didn't matter to Stella and she showed everyone what a legit psycho she was when she caught them making out a week after he dumped her."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Bloom asked him, nervousness filling her voice rather than amusement.

"Stella used her magic to blind her. On purpose. She blinded one of her best mates."

"It was an accident." Sabrina snapped, "She lost control. If anyone understands that, it's you."

Bloom furrowed her eyebrows at her words. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢.

"Yeah." Sky nodded, making Bloom's face fall further, "That's the story."

"Fucking asshole." Brandon scowled and glared at Riven before he stormed away from them.

"Bravo." Sabrina slapped the back of Riven's head, "I hope that you're proud of yourself. Find me when you sober up, asshole."

-

By the end of the party, Sabrina was smoking weed in one of the weapon rooms in order to get away from everyone. It was kind of sad that only weed and alcohol ❪ and Riven ❫ were able to distract her from the mess inside of her head.

The doors suddenly opened and she immediately rushed to hide the joint, only to stop when she realized that it was just Riven.

"There you are." he let out a sigh of relief, "I'm sorry about earlier. I was a little too drunk. And watching Sky and Bloom flirting was giving me a major sense of deja vu."

Sabrina grimaced and nodded in agreement, "You're right. She had to know. It might keep her away from Sky long enough for Stella to get over him."

"Yeah . . ." Riven nodded and narrowed his eyes at her, "Did I tell you how gorgeous you look tonight? Don't get me wrong, you are always beautiful but that dress really brings out your . . . '

"Boobs?" Sabrina raised an amused eyebrow as a smirk tugged on her lips.

"I was going to say eyes." He corrected her, although the glint in his eyes made it very clear that he was lying.

"Sure you did. You're acting as if you think with anything other than your di──"

Her words were cut off by him locking their lips together. She let out a hum of surprise but only deepened the kiss which made relief fill his chest. He made her drop her half-finished joint on the table and then they were all over each other.

His hands were wrapped around her waist and her hands were tangled in his hair.

"I can't keep ignoring this." He panted against her lips, his eyes darker than usual. "I can't keep pretending that I don't want you because I do."

Sabrina swallowed, "You're drunk."

"Then asked me again in the morning." Riven pleaded, "But let me just have this night. If you don't feel the same tomorrow morning when we wake up, we can just go back to who we always were. I swear this won't affect anything if you don't feel the same way."

"Riven."

"What?"

"Just kiss me."

Sabrina didn't even have to tell him twice because his lips were on hers once again, his tongue slipping into her mouth soon after. Her fingers slid under his shirt and she scratched his abs with her nails which caused him to make a noise in the back of his throat.

Riven pulled away in order to take his shirt off but when he did, he didn't kiss her and let his lips wander toward her neck instead. He started placing kisses on the spots that he vaguely remembered she liked and just as she let a moan slip past her lips, the doors opened and made them both jump in surprise.

"Shit, sorry." One of the specialists stuttered with wide eyes.

"For fuck's sake, Dane." Riven rolled his eyes and gave Sabrina an apologetic look.

Sabrina tried to play things off by running her hands through her messy hair in an attempt to look less flustered. ❪ 𝘈 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮! ❫

The mood was clearly ruined so in an attempt to lighten it up, she picked up her joint and nodded at Dane, who seemed completely petrified. "You want some?"

"Shotgun?" the coy voice that unmistakably belonged to Beatrix spoke up from behind him. He jumped away from the doorway to reveal the fairy to Sabrina. "I was looking all over for you, Sabrina."

Riven's face faltered at the insinuation and he quickly changed the subject. He let out a weak chuckle at the lost look on Dane's face. "Hopeless." He stepped closer to him and nodded for Beatrix to walk over to them. "Inhale." He told Dane when he stood between him and Beatrix.

"Now" Beatrix smirked and smirked at both Dane and Sabrina, "exhale."

Dane exhaled the smoke from his mouth into Beatrix's which caused Riven to let out a light chuckle.

"My turn?" Sabrina spoke up, her voice slightly hoarse. She walked up to Beatrix and let her blow the smoke into her mouth. Unlike she did with Dane, Beatrix brought their lips so close together that it was almost a kiss. Sabrina inhaled the smoke and let out a satisfied sigh.

Beatrix took her hands off of the table that she was subconsciously leaning on, "I'm going to wash a hundred years' dust off my hands."

Riven frowned as he watched Sabrina's eyes involuntarily follow every step that Beatrix took out of the room. The harsh realization settled in; Sabrina was never his to begin with.

"I don't know how you can smoke so much after Terra's brownies," Dane commented, eyeing the joint that was now back in Sabrina's hands.

She rolled her eyes, "I didn't try them because I heard they barely had weed in them. I adore that girl but you could slip those to Dowling and she wouldn't notice that they had weed in them."

"Fucking Terra." Riven scoffed.

"Don't be an asshole." Dane scolded, surprising him. "She made them for everybody."

Riven chuckled at how oblivious he was being, "No, she didn't. She made them for you. She's so thirsty for your dick. It's embarrassing."

Sabrina glared at him, "Don't be a dick about it. Not everyone has to have the motive to be nice."

"Not Terra." Riven shook his head and looked at Dane, "By the way . . . what size are you?" Sabrina blinked in surprise and Dane seemed even more terrified than before. "Shirt. What size shirt?"

They went back to the party pretty quickly and there was no sign of Beatrix. Things were a little tense between Riven and Sabrina but they didn't get a chance to talk about it because Stella stormed up to them the second they got back.

"Have you seen Sky?" she asked them loudly, "He's not replying to my texts."

Riven gave her a look of amusement, "Well, have you seen Bloom?"

"What?"

"Oh shit. Whoops." He mocked her. "No, no, they're─ they're totally just friends. Nothing going on. One hundred percent. No need to blind her."

"For fuck's sake." Sabrina muttered with an angry look on her face, "Do you have to be an asshole to everyone tonight?"

Stella's face flashed with anger for a second. But once again, she made an attempt to hide it with a look of arrogance. "I wouldn't waste my magic on a changeling, anyway."

Sabrina's eyebrows furrowed, "Bloom is a changeling?"

"Whoops." Stella shrugged and just as the words left her mouth, she and Sabrina received a text at the same time. They hurriedly took their phones out and Sabrina's eyes went wide at the sight of the text Bloom sent her.

𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆.
𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗻𝗲.
𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲.

"Fuck." Sabrina muttered and grabbed Stella by the hand, "Let's go."

They met with Terra and Tecna at the entrance of the party and with Aisha and Musa at the entrance of the school before they all rushed toward the Stone circle.

-

There was no sight of Bloom next to the Stone circle so they assumed she was reckless enough to go outside the barrier. And like the idiots that 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 were, they went straight after her.

They found her in the middle of a clearing. She and Sky were both on the ground and there was a Burned One on top of her.

"Close your eyes!" Stella ordered Bloom and directed her light in the direction of the Burned One who stumbled back far enough to allow Bloom to stand up.

When she got up, she used her powers to weaken him further.

"Aisha!" Bloom yelled and the water fairy quickly put out her fire. The Burned One was distracted enough for Sky to stab him with his sword.

The creature was on the ground and they all slowly stepped toward it. Sabrina, because she was curious about what a Burned One actually looked like. The others, because they wanted to see if it was dead.

"Wait." Musa spoke up, her eyes glowing, "I don't think it's ── "

She was cut off by the Burned One getting up. Tecna subconsciously grabbed Sabrina's wrist while she did the same to Stella's hand as they all stumbled away from the creature. Their panic disappeared when a red light filled it and it exploded out of nowhere.

"No, it wasn't dead." Dowling's voice from behind them made Sabrina's blood run cold. "It is now."

-

"That the lot of you and Headmaster Silva are still alive does not change how thoughtless you were." Dowling yelled the second she reached the seven of them. "We'll discuss the consequences in the morning."

None of them got the chance to react because she stormed off the second she said what she had to say.

"Is she, like, detention pissed off or expulsion pissed off?" Aisha asked hesitantly.

"I'm going with the first one." Musa said confidently and patted the top of Sabrina's head, "She wouldn't be caught dead expelling Brina so I think that we're safe. Plus, I could have sworn I felt a tiny bit of pride there."

Sabrina chuckled at that and nodded in agreement.

"We should get upstairs." Bloom said, looking at someone over Sabrina's shoulder.

The Jackson girl followed her gaze to see Sky standing in the middle of the hallway. She swallowed at the sight of his distressed state but decided to let him and Stella talk.

She followed her roommates upstairs but halted when her phone buzzed. When she took it out of her pocket, she grimaced.

𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘅:
𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝗽?
𝗠𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺
𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻?

"I'll be back later." Sabrina told them without looking up from her phone screen, "Don't wait up."

She missed the look of disapproval she received from Tecna and made her way toward the weapons room.

-

"Here we have wasted," Beatrix narrated while pointing her phone at a now drunk Sabrina, "wasteder," she pointed the phone at Riven and finally at Dane, "and the most wasted."

Sabrina let out a drunk giggle and watched as Dane and Riven wrestled.

"Hey, Riv."

"Yes?" Riven raised an eyebrow.

"Shotgun me." Dane almost pleaded. It was somewhere between cute and embarrassing.

Riven grinned, "What about your girlfriend?"

"Who?"

"You know, weird-arse fat girl." Riven exclaimed dramatically, "Loves plants and brownies."

"Riven." Sabrina scolded for what felt like the hundredth time that night, "Don't be an arse."

"She . . . she can go and fuck a flower." Dane stuttered out, leaning his head on Riven's shoulders.

Sabrina's mouth hung open in disbelief while Riven and Beatrix instantly burst out laughing.

"Burn!" Riven yelled. He and Dane shotgunned again while Beatrix's arm made its way to Sabrina's waist.

"Not a burn." the air fairy corrected, "A third-degree."

The rest of the night, Beatrix and Sabrina were all over each other because the latter was too drunk to care whose arms were caressing her skin. Dane was glued to Riven's side while Riven barely took his eyes off Sabrina.

While Beatrix liked to think it was because he was just a basic guy that got turned on by seeing two girls together, a part of her knew it was more than that. Well, the sober part, anyway.

a/n: this love square is gonna be a mess. did yall really think riven and sabrina were gonna get together this soon?
