𝟑𝟏.

(𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐘𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐘)

I watch as different ages, ethnicities and various peoole of class pass by shaking my parent's hand while I stand by.

I had texted Tristan the address almost thirty minutes ago and I started to feel as though he had backed out.

A part of me was disappointed but also relieved because I wouldn't have to talk to Chase.

"Liv, what's on your mind?" My mom questions, her right brow raised high as she looks at me.

"Nothing I'm just tired," I tell her and she nods.

"Well if you want to lighten up your mood, Daniel and Maria are over at the chocolate fountain," she tells me and I nod before she walks away.

Daniel and Maria, my high school best friends, and also my dad's best friend's kids. You'd think after high school we'd stay close but that didn't happen.

If anything they'd make my mood worse simply due to the fact that I wouldn't know where to start and possibly have an anxiety attack from the problematic conversation that would take place if I walked my taciturn ass across there.

A waiter walks in front of me and I take up a glass of champagne before taking a small sip.

Maybe I should walk across there.

I take another sip before coming to the conclusion that I shouldn't. Communication works both ways and I've tried my fair amount to talk to them throughout the summer.

Or maybe I was the bad one, I did evolve into a bully, I wouldn't exactly want to speak to me either. I place the glass on the table next to me before taking a deep breath.

God, I wish that was alcoholic champagne.

Before I can take a step forward, a pair of hands grab my waist before spinning me around. "You look amazing," he speaks.

Tristan stands in front of me with his hands on my waist. A white button-up shirt, the sleeves rolled up a little below his elbow and black suit pants fall down his legs. Not too tight, nor was it too loose. It fit him perfectly.

His usual watch is on his left wrist but his usual chain isn't around his neck. "What happened to the tie?" I question, placing my hand where the tie would usually start.

"I couldn't tie it and neither could Kate, plus I prefer not to feel like I'm choking myself," he mutters which places a smile on my face.

"Now when are we getting this over with?" He inquires.

"Now actually, because I would like to find some alcohol soon," I tell him and he raises his brow.

"I might need to do something that I wouldn't do if I don't have a few drinks in me," I explain.

"Should I be worried?" he asks.

"I'm not sure yet," I tell him and he gives me that stare, the one that completely flips my stomach and makes me blush uncontrollably.

I turn around before scanning the area for Tristan's parents. To my surprise it was relatively easy, they were standing talking to a couple who soon walked away.

"Are you ready?" I question and he nods. He takes a deep breath before both of us walk down the stairs and onto the concrete where most of the people are, sauntering about.

We finally come to a stop in front of his father.

"Carlos,"

"Tristan,"

"Where's mom?" Tristan questions, slightly turning his head to look around.

"She just went to get a drink," he says.

"Ah, you again?" He questions, gesturing his hand towards me.

"I didn't even realise you were one of Garcia's kids," he says and I nod.

"I see your grandfather gave you the car," he tells Tristan.

"Yeah, he thought I deserved it,"

"That's good, I had one of those when I was around your age, an older version of course," he chuckles, sticking his hands into the pockets of his jacket.

I guess I could see where Tristan sees the only talks about money and material things.

"Tristy," we hear a voice call out before pulling Tristan into a tight embrace.

"Mom, that nickname is a bit old," he tells her softly and a huge smile appears on my face.

"My Tristan will ways be Tristy," she scolds before releasing him from her grasp. She had a thick Spanish accent and she was extremely beautiful, she had long black hair and a red dress that partially stuck to her body.

"Mom, this is Olivia, Olivia this is my mom," he says.

"Oh my, is she your girlfriend?" She questions, pulling me into a tight hug.

"Yeah," he says looking at me with a small smile.

"Hijo, ella es bonita y sus ojos son hermosos," she speaks, as she let's me out of her hold.

I did Spanish in high school and the only thing I can confirm she said is beautiful. Mainly because she sounds fluent and she spoke way too fast.

Tristan scratches the back of his head, "Thanks Mom," he mutters.

"What did she say?" I question and he chuckles lowly without telling me.

"Tristan, can I borrow you for a moment?" Carlos questions.

"Sure," he replies and soon the men leave both of us alone.

"I haven't seen those two together in almost two years," she speaks, taking a sip of the red wine in her glass.

"What happened?" I question and she shrugs.

"One time he was happy and the next, he wasn't," she says.

"This is probably the most he's smiled when he's around his dad, normally I can't even lift his mood,"

"Does he still have that balloon of a friend, Chase I think his name was," she says removing the glass from her lips after her next sip.

"Yeah actually, no one can come between them," I mutter.

"I can't believe he still defends him after what he did to that poor girl," she mutters.

Before I ask her what girl she's referring to, a woman grabs her attention. "I'll be back," she tells me and I nod before they walk away.

It took a while for any of them to come back, so I decided to keep myself occupied. I took a deep breath before walking towards the two people I once called friends.

"Hey," I speak with a small smile.

"Liv, it's been so long," Maria says with a big smile. Her braces were off, she had a reason to show off her three thousand dollars teeth.

"Yeah, too long," I say before awkwardly crossing my arms, "What have you guys been doing?"

"Nothing really, just studying and school, as you know I'm trying to pursue being a doctor," Daniel says.

Good to see he has dropped that stupid posh accent.

"Yeah, how that's going?" I question as he takes a sip from his glass.

"It's good, it's only the first semester so hopefully it doesn't get worse than this," he jokes.

"What are you majoring in?" Maria questions.

"Communication and Journalism," I tell them. I can feel the judgement radiating off of them which is messed up. No, I'm not trying to be a famous businesswoman, no I'm not trying to become a doctor or a lawyer.

I just want a simple life. Small and contented.

"That's a good one," Daniel laughs before holding his chest in a dramatic act as he laughs in many aggravating ways.

Now I remember why I was so mean.

"Seriously what are you doing?" he asks.

"I'm serious," I retort causing him to straighten up his posture.

"Oh, well that's a good choice," he tells me, I narrow my eyes towards the pale, simple-minded boy before containing my inner anxiety.

"Are you still with Chase?" Maria questions.

"No, we broke up a while back," I tell her and I can see the pink tint covering her face, she's probably imagining all the ways she can try to wow his despicable ass.

"I'm sorry to hear that," she says, not being able to hold the small smirk.

God, I need a drink.

"Hey," I hear a familiar voice and when I turn around thankfully it's Tristan.

He hands me his drink before leaning down to whisper in my ear, "It's bourbon, go, easy love,"

I take a small sip, before almost sipping it out. I swallowed the goldish liquid and handed it back to him.

"Is that diluted?" I question and he shakes his head.

Before I can say anything I'm interrupted by Maria.

"Are you going to introduce him or do we have to sit and look pretty to grab his attention," she states.

I'm basically now re-introducing myself, you incomprehensible cunt. I take a deep breath before taking it back from Tristan, I quickly swallow the burning liquid but it was exactly what I needed so I wouldn't lash out.

"I prefer anonymity, " he says before taking the glass from me.

"I'm gonna go refill this for myself," he tells me and I nod before he walks away from me.

"New boyfriend?" Daniel questions.

"Yeah,"
