14. Twin Brawl

"So want to tell me why we came all the way out here?"

Bugs lay silently next to his girlfriend Malia, both of them fitting perfectly in the bed of Thumper. Both teenagers laid perfectly next to one another, Bugs arm around Malia neck as she layer across his chest. It was around midnight, the weather was nearing spring break so it was considerably growing hotter which made for a perfect night to just sit and watch the stars. The couple had been in bed for hours before hand, their legs wrapped around one another's as they watched mindless tv when Malia got the fabulous idea to just leave.

Bugs had no problem, throwing some pillows and a few light blankets into his backseat, they had stopped at the nearest gas station and proceeded to drive out into the preserve. Bugs hadn't minded letting Malia guide the way, she knew the woods like the back of her hand which also meant she knew the best parts around.

She had in fact led him right towards a cliff where he had parked the car in reverse and they were able to watch the towns lights while also able to count all the stars in the galaxy. Bugs had never seen anything so mesmerizing and he had a feeling there was a story behind it.

"When I was a coyote I would come here all the time, and spend hours just staring at the town. I don't know why... I guess I always kind of knew where I actually belonged. This was my favorite place to come, I always just came here at night and watched night life. Not many animals followed me up here and I never understood why but I didn't care, this was my spot. I don't even know why I brought you out here, maybe it's a thank you for sticking with me after all the times I killed you. I know it must be frustrating trying to teach me how to be a human but I'm happy you've stuck with me. Thank you Bugs." Malia's soft voice explained, her breath fanning the grey t-shirt Bugs wore.

He smiled, kissing the top of her head. He didn't want to say anything back, the fear of ruining this perfect moment by bringing up the outweighing letting the truth out so he only nodded and reminded himself that Malia didn't need to thank him. She had stuck with him even after all the shit he had done, granted she didn't know, but still. He had a feeling she knew he was keeping things from her but she also understood that pushing wasn't the best option.

Bugs Stilinski knew he was falling quickly for the girl, he guessed from the first moment he had handed her over his flannel in the middle of the woods that first time they met it was over.

He had fallen hard for her and there was no going back... not that he had any intention of ever altering those moments.

The McCall pack all stood around Scotts kitchen, 3 different, high tech laptops on the wooden table. Bugs was biting his bottom lip, feeling the amount of stress surging through him at full voltage in the moment. Not only was he dealing with his self loathing but there was the whole thing Malia Tate happening. He hadn't been able to reach her since the weekend and every single minute since then he had spent calling her. He had driven by her house to make sure she was alright every night, her bedroom light was always and he noticed her head shoot up from her bedroom window as he drove by but she had yet to come out and speak a word to him.

Bugs' bedroom window was always open, even if the nights were bitter and his teeth would chatter he couldn't find it in him to close, and besides, he wasn't sleeping that much either. His favorite shirt to sleep in was just strewn across his vanity, mocking him every time he stared at it. Malia was gone and there was a potential she was never coming back if his shirt was sitting in his room and that thought alone made it unbearable to even pick the thin fabric up. He wasn't ready to give up on the werecoyote, not after everything they had been through.

Aside from that perfect chaos there was also the matter of the benefactor and assassin list, luckily Stiles and Scott had come up with a plan to solve that. Well... they had come up with a plan but it didn't necessarily mean it was a problem solver. Bugs knew he needed to be present for this, he knew loosing himself in his own destruction wasn't going to save anyone, so he had forced himself up and here he stood. The plan set in place by his brother and best friend was quite possibly one of the dumbest things he had ever heard and the first time he had heard it he had sworn they were joking with him. Unfortunately it was very real and he was going to be just as involved as everyone else.

Stiles golden eyes briefly flickered over to him, noticing he was fully aware of the moment. Stiles had been concerned about his brothers well being the last few days but he thought he was handling the Malia break up pretty well, or at least that's what he had seen.

"Is three enough?" Kira spoke up, her lips pursing as she stared over the screens.

Bugs tapped his hand against one. "Well it depends on how many cameras they have but I think so. I had an uncle who worked in all this stuff, he worked at Apple for a long time and he showed me the ropes about technology so I've got this."

"You're sure you can do this?" Lydia turned to him, raising her brow at him. Since the whole incident and Bugs finding out she knew everything the tense air between them had somewhat dimmed. Lydia knew and there really wasn't much either could do of the situation so they had tried to get back to normal for Stiles sake.

"I've got this, I rewired and hacked them enough to have sole control over what happens," Bugs grinned, proud of his handiwork.

Lydia nodded, still she didn't seem convinced of the plan. "Are we really doing this?"

Scott nodded his head, firmly stating once more, "We're doing it. Tonight."

Liam spoke up, looking at his alpha and pointing out, "But isn't it kind of dangerous?"

Stiles rolled his eyes and agreed with the young beta. "It's incredibly dangerous. And borderline idiotic."

"It's like Jackass level idiotic... which would explain why it also kind of sounds fun. Still idiotic however." Bugs nodded with his twin who only gave him a look of disbelief in return.

Liam timidly questioned, "Have you guys done something like this before?"

Stiles raised an eyebrow. "Something dangerous? Or something idiotic?"

The twins eyes met as they shrugged casually, the oldest of the duo letting out an, "ehh... you could say."

Kira sighed, retorting, "I think it's a yes to both."

"You don't have to be part of it if you don't want to." Clearly Scott could see how reluctant Liam was to actually participant. No one could blame the boy, they were all shit scared the only difference was they were practically use too it.

"I'm not scared." Liam answers although anyone can see the boy is in fact.

Stiles place a hand on his shoulder with an encouraging smile. "Then you're borderline idiotic. If we do this, we don't know what's coming for us. You know that, right?"

"How do we even know something's definitely coming?" Kira inquired, crossing her arms in doubt.

"Because the tape from Garrett's bag said visual confirmation required." Scott explained, Bugs pursing his lips at the mention of the deadpool he couldn't seem to get away from.

"Simon said the same thing. He couldn't get paid by The Benefactor until he had proof that you guys were dead." Stiles spoke up, briefly flashing to see his  brothers reaction to the name of his possible murderer. Stiles had been  very cautious with his brother since that day. He thought his older  brother would at the very least be a little distant over it, maybe  slightly paranoid but there was nothing. Stiles found this odd, it  seemed like the near death had barely affected him. Shouldn't people who  are held at gun point and seconds away from being blown to shreds be a  little more terrified? But no, Bugs didn't even flinch at the name of  the chemist. His eyes didn't even waver. What the hell?

"So the idea is, what if you kill someone on the dead pool, but you can't send the proof?" Bugs quickly finished up the explanation.

"You don't get paid" Kira stated the obvious.

"But how does that get us any closer to The Benefactor." A still very confused Liam Dunbar sighed out of frustration. He wanted to be in the loop of knowing things and so far he had yet to be included.

"How the fuck do you still not get it baby superman? He still needs to know if the target is really dead." Bugs scoffed at the teenager. "Especially if it's someone high on the list."

"So, if he wants visual confirmation..."Liam drawled out for someone else to finish.

"He's going to have to come get it himself." Scott nodded.

"Enter here worlds stupidest, deadliest, and downright jackass 2.0 death," Bugs sassed, looking over to Scott.

Bugs paced the morgue, his hands fidgeting every so often as he watched Stiles finish setting up the computers. He would be doing it but his hands were shaking so badly he couldn't even hold a pencil correctly.

Approximately two minutes ago Scott had been rushed into the hospital, doctors would say his heart had stopped beating and in a matter of moments he would be declared dead. He wasn't actually dead, just in a Kitsune induced slumber, Bugs knew this of course but that didn't stop him from panicking. This was his best friend, his pack member, the alpha and losing Scott McCall would break everything away.

"I still think this is a stupid plan," Bugs mumbled aloud to his brother who was watching the monitors intently.

"It is but you're nervous and making it seem more than it is. Get your mind off the negative and think about something else," Stiles sighed, tapping his hand against the stele table everything was sat atop.

"Oh yeah? Like what?" Bugs halted and looked over to his brother with a raised brow.

"Like Malia." Stiles answered. "What's going on between you two? Has she not spoken to you yet? I saw her the other day in the hallway and she wouldn't even look at me in the eyes. Is it that bad?"

"Well gee Stiles," Bugs scoffed. "How pissed would you be if you were my girlfriend and I kept something life altering from you?"

"Okay one don't ever use my girlfriend when referencing to me ever again." Stiles shivered in disgust. "Like seriously ever, that's incest..."

Bugs rolled his eyes, "okay what's the next thing?"

Stiles pursed his lips, his eyes drifting off before looking back at his twin. There was something in his eyes, it was clear anger. Bugs gulped as he knew the next words from his brother wouldn't be ones he would care to hear. Stiles narrowed his eyes slightly, "and Malia probably feels as shitty as I do knowing you're keeping something from me... of all people me and the only person you've told is Deaton. So maybe I do know how she fucking feels... maybe I will know how she feels."

"Stiles..." Bugs sighed, knowing his brother was fed up with the lack of information he had been given the last few weeks.

"No, don't you fucking Stiles me. You won't tell me what the hell has been happening to you and I was okay with it the first couple of days because I thought you just needed time to think about it but it's been months and you're still so fucking guarded you should be sitting on a throne. Bugs, I'm your brother... I can help. Scott... Lydia, all of us can help even dad but you're just so shut out!" Stiles slammed his hand against the table I'm anger, making a loud smack. His jaw tightened as he calmed himself down and Bugs watched with wide eyes.

The green eyed sibling attempted not to look as stunned as he felt, Stiles was very rarely that angry. They always joked that it seemed like Bugs had absorbed every bitter emotion since the younger twin was always so lighthearted. Having an angry Stiles was not good, especially not with an angry Malia as well. Bugs waited a moment longer, licking his lips as he knew yet again he would have to lie to his younger brother simply because there was no way around it. "Stiles you don't get it okay... the shit I've been going through its not for Dad, you, or Scott! Don't you think I want to tell you, I want to yell it at you but I can't because once I tell you all of you will leave me. It's not like I stole your girlfriend alright! I'm actually dealing with real fucking problems out of this! You just have to trust that I can handle it!"

"That's the thing though Bugs, I can see you can't. I can see it's tearing you up."

Kira, Liam, and Noshiko walked into the room then, the trip immediately noticing the thick tension between the two jokers of the group. They had never seen either boy this irritated at each other and it was quite terrifying. Both stood at opposite ends of the room, standing their ground with eyes slit.

Bugs was looked like he was moment away from snapping which was never a good sign if his time on the lacrosse field had anything to say about it but the even more horrifying thing was Stiles actually looked like he could take on his twin brother.

"Scott should be in the morgue any minute now, we can probably start moving things," Kira was the only brave one to say a thing.

Stiles broke away first, his teeth grounding together as his brothers words sunk in and he went back to working on the laptops. Bugs took a deep breath, shutting his eyes for a split second as he realized he was so close to revealing the truth. He couldn't do that. Once his emerald eyes pulled apart they were much cooler and a gentle smile took over his lips. "Perfect, lets get this fucking disaster over with."

Bugs watched Scott McCalls still body, he knew he would be okay and this could possibly turn out to help him more than anyone but it was driving him crazy to see his best friend so dead. He was thankful in that moment that he had come back to the land of the living and actually paid enough attention to this part of the plan or he would be in for such a rude surprise.

His eyes moved from the practically dead alpha to his brother who had to have looked his way. He was assuming Stiles was still pissed beyond belief from their discussion minutes ago, which for moments circumstances was not a good idea because with Scott out of commission they were going to need to work together as much as possible but that didn't seem like it was going to be ideal.

Melissa, Scotts mom, had just given an Oscars worth of a performance upstairs when they had informed her of her childs death. She had screamed so loud even down in the low depth of the hopital it had been heard. Bugs visibly winced as she walked in with swollen eyes and cast them on hr son. She stared at him for another moment before saying, "I still hate this plan. I mean this is pretty significantly terrifyingly. He looks dead."

Noshiko walked over, holding her palm out for the mother. "Give me your hand."

Bugs noticed Melissa's hesitance to follow through. He walked over, standing next to her and nodding, "It's okay. Ms. M."

Melissa did it, watching oddly as he hand was pressed into Scott's chest and she waited for second. Bugs knew what she was feeling, he had felt it before as well. The slow heartbeat, a smile breaking out onto her lips as well as a sigh of relief. "Is that enough to keep a werewolf alive?"

Mrs. Yukimura clarified, "Enough for an Alpha."

Melissa nodded, her gaze now settling on the group of teenagers, "how much time do we have?"

Noshiko checked her watch and answered. "Forty-five minutes."

"What happens after that?" Melissa continued to question and no one could blame her, she had only been given a short amount of details to the plan considering if she knew anything else she would refuse to let it happen. Now however Bugs could tell there was no sense in keeping the plan from her seeing as it was done and there was no turning back from it.

Kira easily maneuvered her way around the question as her quick response was, " I bring him back the same way."

"No, I mean what happens if he stays like this longer than forty-five minutes?" Melissa retracted, noticing how tense the teenagers got the moment she clarified her question. Her eyes slightly narrowed as Bugs winced next to her.

"No one's told her?" The former Kitsune said in disbelief.

"What? What happens after forty-five minutes?" Melissa spoke slowly, knowing that whatever the answer maybe it wasn't going to be pretty.

Bugs was the only one brave enough to answer so he decided to bite the bullet and speak, "He dies."
