Subject: proposal on library facilities

The aim of this report Is to present according to the actual library condition some suggestions to improve and make an advice on which are the important and necessary needs.

   Time and Space

   First of all, the library’s schedule means a great disadvantage to the students, as the length of time it is open is not enough and so many students do not finish their assignments. Then, although the work spaces is comfortable, certainly it is not plenty of space so it gets crowded easily.

  Reading and watching

   The library has a wide variety of books in all themes and subjects, however, the videos, that are some documentaries about history and science, are not really useful. They are old and non-up-dated, causing annoying reactions to that. A requested reading object are English magazines that are compulsory to certain projects.

 Conclusion

  The most important things to improve are the workplacr, we felel that when u have to deal with studies, asigments, projects, the place where you do it should be agreeable, quiet that helps you to concentrated and focused yourself. To sum up, the library shoukd have a workplace, a bit bigger and quiet.

As requested, I am submitting a report about this conference we attended last weekend at vancouver hall expressing our points of views about this event.

The conference was opened on Friday at 9.oo a.m and the opening ceremony was crowded with professors and students from different colleges from all over all Canada. The following days we attdended the exhibitions exposed, even though there were talks on wide range of career it was very difficult to find experts available to give advice about specific jobs. There were over 100 different jobs, however, for us it was impossible to change ideas with a specialized person in languages.

  Despite this fact, the exhibition was great , some of the talks were amazingly good especially the ones about science, we learnt a lot about this field.

  A good idea would be that for the forthcoming exhibitions more humanities experts would attend the conference and also organizers should try to get enough people to answer questions. In summary we could say it was an excellent opportunity for us to share with several kind of students and an extraordinary way to get knowledge about so many careers that will enhance our future studies.

CD2 test 4, question 3, competition band 5

If I was to given the opportunity of traveling back in time, I would certainly stop in Britain in the time of the reign of the first female English queen- Elizabeth I. I have always been fascinated by this extraordinary historical figure who had  such significant influence on this country and its history.

  This decision of my past time destination occurs to me quiet naturally for history is one of my life-long interests, especially the period around 15th and 16th century. Although I an aware that living in those times was not as comfortable and easy it is nowadays, thanks to all the inventions of the modern life, I would love to explore the spirit of the life centures ago. Living in England in the 16th century might take me to London, where Shakespeare just opened his Globe. Watching one of his famous plays I could catch a glimpse of the queen, dressed in clothes of an ordinary woman, surrounded by her servants. She was said to attend the theatre in disguise in order to amuse herself and escape from the formality of her royal court.

    My next destination could be a lively market, where I would watch the hussle of the everyday life of ordinary people comming there to sell handmade potery and fabrics or buy some fresh eggs and bread. My main interest would be the quee, as I mentioned before. Having seen a great documentary based on her life recently I can’t help woman managed to rule her country successfully for so many years. She must have been a person of a magnificient character and skills if she was to lead the country in those unsettled times of continuous wars against spain and france. She defeated rebellion initiated by her cousin Mary and by many others, who did not like to see her on the throne. Surprisingly, she had never got married. It might have been a part of her strategy how to keep the fragile peace. But it would be her devotion for the nation and her people’s welfare as she once proclaimed. That is why I want to travel to the Elizabethan times and meet this fantastic person whose strength and personal experience could teach me a lot and whom I can’t help to admire.

 Report for book club

  In the frame by Dick Francis

  The story

   This is an exciting story about a man who studies the murder of his counsin’s wife. He is a very brave man who finds himself in very dangerous situations but in the end he can find the answer. He has to travel to the other end of the world and reader has the chance to go to Australia and new Zealand. We also learn about the strange worlds of horse-racing and art.

 Recommendation

 I  think that in the frame will be a very good book to our club to discuss. It is exciting and our club members would enjoy to read it. when I read it I could not stop b/c I very much wanted to know what will happen. From time to time I was thinking that the hero will not survive. Moreover, it was extremely interesting to read about different places of the world.

 In addition, the book is good for learn English b/c it is a modern book and there is a lot of conversation in it and so we can learn the language of today, not the language of past. I learnt a lot of useful vocabulary and expressions from it.

 In short, I want to recommend it for our book club. We could spend a very happy evening to discuss it. I think we can, for example, talk about the hero and his character and his relations with other people in the book.

Thanks very much for your email. It’s been ages since we saw each other, hasnot it?

Anyway, of course I have lots of ideas for anna’s birthday party. Your idea about the Majestic Hotel sounds great,but what about the price? I’m not sure whether it’s too expensive or not.

Well, don’t worry about her present. Anna loves traveling, so I think it’d be a good idea to give her a trip, which she can choose.

 Anyway, I’ve bad news for you b/c I am very busy the day before the party, so I can not help you with the preparations. I am very sorry! I hope you’ll find someone else giving you a hand. Maybe Brian.

To make the party special, we could organize a karaoke party. I remember how much fun she had at the last visit in the Karaoke Bar. That’ll be a great surprise for Anna.

Test 4, question 5b- letter band 4

Dear Kate,

I have not read the book of Pride and Predudice but I saw the film last week. I think it is beautiful story. I liked it very much.

  I think the reason why it is still a good story is numerous.

  Firstly, in the film, as in the book I think, Mr Darcy is so handsome that you can think of him like a famous star from the TV today! His love story is not easy- just like all the film and drama on Tv today. You can imagine them true.

 Also the sisters in the story are very like in the real life. But the mother is not very nice person. I think she is silly person and we can all know someone like her. all young people think that their parents do not know anything and so it is very much like real life.

   I recommend you to see the film of this story. I think it’s the perfect way to spend some free time.
