Epilogue
Mixed hues of purple, silver and cobalt blue tainted the night sky along with the thin wisps of greying clouds floating across. Isadora was standing by the railings in the balcony looking up at the sky, eyes searching for the sparkling silvery stars dotted in the purplish tapestry.
The shop hours had ended and she had convinced Alex to take Helena out to dinner, assuring him that she would be fine by herself. Months had lapsed since the last time she had had a panic attack and since she had recovered fully by then, Alex had no reason to object with her.
She had not yet had dinner herself instead she was standing in the balcony, reflecting upon the past and the present, thinking about Tim and where he would be at that moment. A month had come to an end since she had last seen him in that flowery meadow and she knew if the case had gone well he would be back quite soon.
And though she had passed the time quite occupied with both the shop as well as her studies, she missed his presence a lot. Those clear blue eyes that twinkled each time he smiled, his contagious laughter that she had so adored as well as the happiness and relief he brought with him in her life.
She was quite lost in thought, her face resting on her palm and a distant look painted on her face as she stood there letting the cold night air embrace her. But much to her surprise, she was shaken out of her reverie when a gust of air struck her along with a flash of red and black.
And soon enough, the lithe figure of Red Robin was perched up on the railings beside her. "Missed me?"
"You're back!" She flung her arms around him and he gently pulled her close.
"A promise is a promise," he remarked smiling as she nestled her head in his neck, hugging him tightly.
Tim and Bruce had returned from the League mission that evening. Their mission had gone well and not much damage had been sustained but the same could not be said for their opponents.
And of course Bruce had wanted them all to go out on patrol regularly so despite being tired Tim had donned the cowl and left the cave, though the highlight for him was meeting Dora at last.
"How are you?" She asked as they pulled apart slightly but her hands still held him by the arms, brown eyes focused on him in concern.
He nodded as he offered her a reassuring smile, "I'm a little battered up but all the exhaustion went away the second I laid eyes on you."
She laughed, her forehead resting against the black material of his cowl, "someone's being expressive today."
"I missed you," he added truthfully, entwining his fingers through hers as he brought her hand up and kissed the back of her palm.
"Me too."
"How's Al?"
She knew he had noticed that Alex was not there at the moment or else the two would have had to pretend that Tim and Red Robin were not the same person. "He's good, I convinced him to take Helena out on a dinner date tonight."
"That's great. And how have your classes been?"
She smiled, "the course is almost reaching its end. To be honest, I can't wait for you to come to the shop and try all the items on our dessert list."
Tim beamed at her appreciatively and though the cowl hid his eyes from view, she knew his blue irises would be shining in the look of pure adoration that he always held in his eyes for her, "and I know already each one of them would be delicious."
"I would only believe this once you do taste every single one of them," she remarked, her eyes gleaming as well.
He nodded, "sure. Tomorrow morning."
His gloved hand reached out to caress her cheek, admiring the way her face shone from happiness making her appear even more irresistible to him. She seemed to have noticed his intent for she leaned in herself and connected her lips with his in a kiss.
The kiss started sweet but since the two had been apart for so long and had missed each other, it didn't take long for the moment to turn slightly unrestrained and passionate. Her hands had trailed up his neck as her fingers pushed back the cowl just enough for his blue eyes to sparkle at her.
He let her push it further back and her slender fingers curled at his brown hair sending a warm feeling of comfort in his heart. He held her close as he deepened the kiss, letting her fingers gently caress his face and neither of them wanted to let go.
But somewhere far the distant sound of police sirens could be heard so Tim had to pull apart and he adjusted the cowl, eyes flickering towards the wide dark expanse of Gotham city. Dora knew it was a sign for him to leave, after all the city needed him.
"I'll drop by when the patrolling hours end," he stated and she nodded in reply.
"All the best," she smiled reassuringly at him.
He quickly kissed her cheek before climbing off the railings and the red of his suit faded in the purple blue sky as he leapt from one building to another using his grapple gun in order to get to the place where he was needed.
Dora's eyes followed his agile figure until he vanished in the cityscape, her hands gently resting at the metal rails as a soft smile played upon her lips.
He was back safe and sound, just like he had promised.
And she was relieved as well as delighted to have him back with her.
Just like she was his light, he was her firm anchor and support. Timothy Drake and Isadora Beaumont were quite young but they had formed a special bond with each other that no one else could rival.
That loving bond was what people spent their whole lives achieving yet the two considered themselves lucky to be blessed with such a pure and sincere relationship.
