Tina.

Open the door, Tina.

I need you.

Open the freaking door!

Why won't anyone listen to me?

Open the door!

She jolted up, eyes wide. They rubbed their eyes trying to make sure that was just a dream. The voice was frantic now, frustrated. It was mad that Tina wasn't listening to it– no, that nobody was listening to it.

This was the first time it had said anything like this. Anything so aggressive and angry. Tina hadn't been afraid before, but she was now. "Dios mio," she sighed, staring at the alarm clock across the room. It was 5:30 am.

Logically, she knew that going back to bed was probably the smartest idea, but Tina decided it was too close to her alarm so she sat up and began to get dressed.

"Everything is going to work out today," Tina whispered to herself, quietly as she pulled on a pair of jeans and a smart-looking lilac coloured shirt. "Hoy va a salir bien. Today is going to be a good day."

Tina traipsed down the stairs, quietly so as not to wake her father, who, it seems, fell asleep watching football, or something equally weird on the TV last night.

She turned on the stove, plopping the small cast iron pan down and beginning to make her favourite comfort food, fried eggs, which she would place atop leftover arroz from dinner. After a minute or so her father wandered in, the smell waking him from his sleep.

"Hola, mija."

"Hola, Papi," Tina replied back, plating her fried egg and handing it to her father, determined to get him to eat.

He smiled at her and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Gracias, niña."

"De nada."

They ate together in silence, the occasional sharing of something funny on their phones interrupting.

Eventually, it was time to leave and Tina grabbed their bag and waved goodbye to their father, walking out the door.

It was a short walk to the school building and, normally Tina did it on her own, but not today. Today a person skated up beside her, weaving past cars on her skateboard. This was Agafia, one of Tina's very few good friends.

"Buenos dias, Agas," Tina waved.

Agafia waved back, smiling as Tina jumped over a tree branch that had invaded the sidewalk. "Did you finish the math?"

Tina nodded, "It wasn't too much so I got it done before dinner."

"Yeah, I definitely feel like I have no idea what happened at all but I got it done," Agas said, laughing as their feet slipped a bit, before righting themself. "Math sucks."

"I suppose, if you don't understand it, anything can suck."

Agas shrugged, "Yeah but math is just extra sucky."

Tina turned into the parking lot as Agas slipped off her skateboard, kicking it up to hold it in their hand. Tina sighed, turning to Agas, "You're totally right."

"I know."

Tina caught up with Agafia in the cafeteria. A few other people sat with the two but not today, they all had other things to do and Agas and Tina were left alone yet again.

Tina crunched into the lukewarm slice of pizza she was able to snatch in the lunch line as she flipped through the English paper she had just received back. It wasn't the worst thing she'd ever written. It was 'An analysis on the Queer elements of the Great Gatsby by Tina Lopez'. It might have just been the best thing she'd ever written, but like, no big deal.

Agas stared at theirs, glaring miserably at the B- written on the cover. It wasn't a terrible grade but in comparison to Tina's A it wasn't too great.

"At least you didn't get points demoted for 'controversial topics'," Tina frowned.

Agas sighed, taking a bite of her pizza, "Yeah, I suppose."

They sat for a minute before Agas decided to ask a pointed question. "Have you ever had, like, really weird dreams?"

Tina stared. They had. Of course they had. The screaming voice in their dreams was pretty creepy and weird. "Eh, yeah."

"Okay, and do they want you to do stuff you don't understand?" Agas asked, rubbing their knuckles together softly.

"Si." Tina stared. "Do they ask you about a door?"

"What the fuck."

There was a moment of silence.

"Ay por Dios." Tina was so done with the voice messing up everything. "Who do you think it is?"

"Someone trapped," Agas said, very helpfully.

"No, duh. Mija, this is ruining my life, okay, let's try for some actual solutions?"

Agas sighed, "Εντάξει, εντάξει. Let's start from the beginning? When did it start for you?"

"I don't know, I'm pretty busy, you know."

"Tee, you were the one that wanted real answers? I'm trying here." She grabbed her paper and shoved it in her backpack. Picking up her food, Agas stood. "If you actually want help you know where to find me."

Agas stood and Tina grabbed all her stuff and followed.

"Of course, I need your help, Agas we need to figure out how we're having the same dreams. That's not physically possible. I mean if it's just us that's crazy but what if it's countless others? Why us?"

"I don't know, Tee," Agas said, dumping her trash. "That's what we have to figure out."

Tina and her best friend sat in the library after school. It was a bit damp and no one else was in there, except a few people scattered in the corners.

Agas had their computer sitting in front of the two and Google was pulled up. "So, what are we searching up?"

"Shared dreams?" Tina asked, typing it in as they spoke. There were only a few credible sources, all saying that shared dreams were religious/spiritual and not scientifically possible.

Agas sighed, "Okay, what about–" They typed in 'groups having the same dream'. Again, no credible responses.

Tina grabbed the keyboard, "Significance of opening doors in dreams."

An open door signifies entering a new stage in your life with new opportunities.

"That sounds like bullshit," Agas laughed.

Tina thought about it, "But what if it's just us both entering a new stage in life, not a shared thing."

Agas stared at the screen. "I mean, it could be. But what if it's actually a shared phenomenon? What if other people are just as confused? What if we can help them figure it out? Shouldn't we try?"

"Ugh, okay."

A person behind them cleared their throat with a little 'mmmhmm.' Tina and Agas spun, simultaneously to face a short boy with bright blue eyes and strange dirty blonde hair. "You two are getting that dream about the door?"

"Who are you?" Agas shot back, their eyebrows furrowed in annoyance.

The teen sighed, "Brand. I've been having that dream too, and Leo Capulet, I think. Maybe Valentine Diaz too but I have no proof of that, yet."

Brand, and his flannel hoodie, pulled up a chair, inserting himself between Agas and Tina. Tina glared, who the hell did this puta think he was, invading their space like this? "Hi, sorry can you back the hell up and explain, please?"

"Right." Brand rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Um, so it started a week ago..."

(so, I'm Hispanic and I speak Spanish but I don't write Spanish so I used a translator for all the Spanish and for the Greek, so if you have a better knowledge of those languages and want to correct me feel free to do so. Also if you want a translation just ask and I'll put one in the comments.)
