The sound of bubbles could be heard in the background. None were saying a word.

Shakki breath out the smoke from the cigarette.

Rayleigh stood up and walked towards the bar to grab another drink.

"Oh? Roger, huh?" Rayleigh asked amused.

He actually did not know that Roger had a kid.

But the name Portgas should ring a bell.

Rouge's last name was Portgas, so that should just confirm it. After all, he was part of Whitebeard. He had no reason to lie.

"Roger was something, alright? He was truly a D."

"The Will of D." You said quitely as you recognized what he was talking about.

"Your father was the type of person who would never give up. He had a dream and that was to become the King of the Pirates and he managed to achieve that dream. Even he would face the greatest danger he wouldn't flinch."

Ace's face was covered by the shadow of his hat.

You looked at him for a second and then turned your attention back to Rayleigh.

"I remember as if it was yesterday, the day he was executed."

"Oh, that's right! The world knows that everyone from the Roger's crew were captured aswell. How come-" you asked as you remembered that piece of information.

"We weren't." Rayleigh continued to smile. "Roger surrendered."

Ace continued to not say a word or react.

"Roger came down with an incurable disease. Even though we had a doctor on our ship, an incurable disease is a incurable disease. He decided that dying from a sickness would not be his style, so he surrendered. All of the crew members including me, weren't captured. All of us went separate ways."

After minutes of talking about Roger, Ace stood up.

"Ace?"

Ace walked towards the bar and grabbed a drink.

"Oi, Ace? You okay?" You asked.

He turned his face to you and nod.

"But to think that he had a son. Just when you think he can't surprise you any more, he drops the bomb." Rayleigh started to laugh.

"M-my, my mother. How was she like? Jiisan told some things about her." Ace said.

"Your mother? I guess she was Rouge, right?" Rayleigh asked and Ace nod. "She was a kind, lovely woman. Your father loved her very much. Is she-?"

"Dead? Yes. She died short after she gave birth to me." Ace explained.

Rayleigh smiled at him. So Roger had a son, huh?

Then, you were surprised to see Rayleigh stare at your face a minute after.

"Wha-"

"You look a lot like Atsuko!"

Your eyes widen at his words. How come he knew your mother's name?!

"H-how do you know my mother's name?"

"So you really are her daughter, huh? That sure brings back memories."

You raised your brows. He still didn't answer the question! How did he know your mother's name?!

"R-Rayleigh-san? You know my mother?"

"Ah, yes. She was part of the crew aswell." Rayleigh smiled.

"W-what?! No way!"

"What? You didn't knew?" Rayleigh asked surprised.

"No? How? No way!"

Rayleigh chuckled at your reaction.

"She was a strong, independent woman. She would always be the target for a specific marine, and we would always tease her about that." Rayleigh laughed as he remembered the good old times.

"Marine?! Don't tell me-"

"Come to think of it, who is your father? I actually very curious myself."

"Akainu." You answered quietly.

Rayleigh started to laugh and then he continued his drink.

"What a plot twist. How is she now?"

"S-she died when I was six years old." You said.

"She died? It's so hard to believe that."

"She was killed by my father..."

"I see... But to actually meet my crewmates children and my captains son... I'm pretty old now, aren't I?"

"So is this what pops wanted us to learn?" You asked Ace.

"I don't know. He said we will find out when we come here."

"Right, I forgot. You're part of your father's rival's crew. Oh the irony."

After a few hours of more discussion, the two of you finally said your goodbyes to Rayleigh and Shakki.

"I can't believe pops send us here only for this! He clearly knew all of this information." You said annoyed.

"True. But I guess, my father wasn't so bad after all." Ace said quietly.

You were surprised by his words.

"But don't get the wrong idea! Despise all of this, this only means that the next time someone mentions his name he won't be beaten up so badly."

"Whatever you say, Ace. So anyways-"

Before you could finish that sentence, you heard a gun being triggered nearby the area you and Ace were.

"What was that?" You asked.

Ace's eyes furrowed. This just seemed wierd for some reason. The two of you were at the tourist area.

When the two of you finally arrived at the place were the gun was heard, you saw a man with a bubble around his head, holding a gun in his arm while in front of him stood a helpless man.

You were about to go and help the man that was lying on the ground, when Ace stopped you.

"Stop! What are you? Crazy? Don't you see him?! He's a Celestial Dragon. Look, I don't want either you or me to get involved with people like him. Come on, let's go." Ace said a little quiet just to make sure that the two of you were safe.

"B-but Ace! We need to-"

"I know... But in this circumstances we cannot help. Sorry. The faster we get out of here, the more safer we are."

You sighed and nod.

As promised, Ace and you went to the Sabaody Park.

It was super fun and all, but the image of that man lying on the ground helplessly was popping in your mind over and over.

You hated the fact that you couldn't do anything to help him. But you promised Ace you won't get involved with any Celestial Dragon. And a promise wad a promise.

But this just showed the true face of this world. This big, fucked up world.

With the death of Gol D. Roger, the Great Age of Pirates started. The search for the One Piece was the primary goal for any pirate around the world.

But you? What was your primary goal? Was it the One Piece? Nope.

The only thing you wanted was to find out the truth about yourself.

But now, with that piece of information, every piece of puzzle started to fit at their right place.

Who knows what happens in the future.

One thing was for sure. Ace was definitely going to be in it.

I'm very happy to announce that I finally decided how I want this story to turn out.

Btw I noticed the fact that I accidentally made Akainu the Fleet Admiral before the war! Haha, my bad.

If you forgot, Akainu became the Fleet Admiral only after the war, remember? When he fought against Aokiji ten days to win this title.

So my bad. I forgot. I rewatched some episodes from One Piece and the scene where Jimbei starts explaing to Luffy about the new Fleet Admiral came in and I was all like: oh... My bad.

So anyways, I wanted to clear that up before we get to Marineford.
