Chapter 36 - Red Hair and Whitebeard

A week passed really quickly with this guys. If you didn't had that vivre card from pops, you would've sailed for like months trying to find the ship.

You couldn't wait to see the other's face again. You missed them. All of them. Even though most of them were just annoying peverts, they were your brothers so you respected them.

And then, there's Marco. The responsible big bro of the family. Man, you sure missed his annoying comments. But enough sarcasm, you really missed him, pops, everyone.

You tried to tell Shanks that it's okay for him just to drop you off somewhere near the ship,so that he won't be necessarily meet pops, but apparently, he had some 'business' he needed to discuss with him.

Your confidence in Ace was growing bigger and bigger each day. You believed in him with all your heart, and with that said, you were almost sure he could defeat Teach.

You just wished Ace would've just let you go with him. You wouldn't need to be so super worried about him if that was the case.

The mist was rising. Everyone got their weapons ready.

Why would they get their weapons ready anyway? It's not like they're going straight full battle mode on pops. After all, they just got you home, so that works in their benefit.

The ship was huge in comparison with their ship. You couldn't say Shanks's ship was small, that really wasn't the case here.

"(Name), you're ready?" Shanks asked.

"Wait, aren't the others coming?" You asked as you looked around the ship.

"No, they're staying here while I have my little chat with Whitebeard."

——————————————————

"Old man! Old man! Red Hair wants to see you!" A man ran towards Whitebeard.

Whitebeard didn't seem too surprised by the sudden guest. He just continued to drink and then he sighed. "Yeah... Let him come aboard."

His condition didn't seem to make itself better, but still he was at his best. "That brat better have brought good booze." He mumbled.

After a few minutes, the Red Hair's ship finally arrived.

"Captain! Red Hair is here!" A man yelled.

Two of the division commanders,  Marco and Jozu, were sitting on the stairs of the ship, arms crossed as they were waiting for the unexpected guest to get on the ship.

"Red Hair is coming." Jozu said.

Marco sighed and stood up. "Greenhorns oughta stay back... Useless you wanna get knocked out." He noted.

Just as his he those words, Red Hair Shanks was climbing the stairs towards the deck of the ship.

"Knocked out?! What're you talking about?" A man under Marco's division asked. Marco turned around to him. "Just go to the back and stay there." Just as he barely finished speaking, the weak ones started to faint.

"Hey, guys what's the matter?! What's going on?!" A man kneeled in front of his comrades that were lying on the ground unconscious.

"Oh... I guess it's already too late." Marco said bluntly. "Hey, guys! Say something! Hey!" The man that previously tried to wake up his comrades up yelled. "Don't make a fuss now... They've just been knocked unconscious, that's all." Marco sighed.

"Those who lack the mettle can't even stay concious in front of that man." Jozu said.

Shanks walked towards Whitebeard has he was dragging with him a big sake barrel. The men that were lined up to protect Whitebeard (not that he needed protection) were most of them lying unconscious on the ground.

"As always, he's got an incredible strong Haki..." Whitebeard mumbled.

As he was walking towards the Whitebeard, his Haki cracked the wood from the railing.

When he finally arrived in front of Whitebeard, Shanks cracked a smile.

"Pardon me... For the bit of intimidation I gave off, since I'm on a enemy ship."

The people who remained awake looked wide eyed at the man that was standing in front of their pops. However, Whitebeard just narrowed his eyes. "Whenever I see your face, the scar that guy gave me throbs."

"I brought some 'healing water' with me." Shanks said. However the barrel in his hand said completely something else (alcohol). "I don't intend to fight. There's something I want to discuss with you." Shanks continued.

"Says the man who shows up trowing his Haki around? You fool." Whitebeard laughed.

"Oi, Red Hair! What'd you do that for?" Marco yelled as he was pointing at the people who were unconscious.

"Oh, you're Marco of the first division, right? Why don't you join my gang?" Shanks asked.

"Shut up!" Marco yelled. Shanks only smiled at his response.

"Old man, what should we..." Jozu asked.

"Man, I even went all this way to bring a crew mate of your back and this is the kind of thanks I get?" Shanks shook his head.

"Huh?  What are you talking about?" A man asked.

Just as Whitebeard was about to ask the same question, a woman appeared out of nowhere from behind Whitebeard's chair and hugged him.

"Hey pops!" She grinned.

Her action was took by surprise by the other, but they all quickly forgot it and they smiled.

"Oh? Since when did you came back?" Whitebeard asked. The girl grinned and infromed him that she just arrived with Shanks.

"Yeah, looks like there won't be a battle. Leave us alone." Whitebeard informed his sons.

Once that said, people started to clear the deck. The girl started to walk with the others but she was stopped by Shanks. Marco, who was waiting for her, ready to attack her with questions looked at her confused. She just shrugged and waved at him.

Once the deck was clear, Shanks sat down in front of Whitebeard's chair and placed the big sake cup in front of him. Once he filled the cup with the 'healing water', he trew the barrel at Whitebeard, who caught it immediately.

The girl who was stopped by Shanks, was sitting on Shanks's right. Whitebeard took a quick look inside the barrel.

"This booze is from West Blue. This us the cheap stuff, isn't it?" He said.

The girl giggled at his comment and then looked at Shanks.

"Having travelled around the world, I find nothing's better than the booze made from the water I grew up with. It's booze from my hometown. Please try it." Shanks girnned. As that said Whitebeard started to drink the sake.

"Not too bad. Roger, Garp, Sengoku... There aren't that many people left who know about that era."

"It's been 22 years. That's just natural." Shanks replied.

"You sure have worked your way up the ladder. You were just a young apprentice on Gol D. Roger's ship. Since we were fighting Roger's gang all the time back then, you and I acquainted in an unsual way." Whitebead started to laugh as a falshback came in his mind. "Has that funny red-nose who was with you kicked the bucket yet?" He asked.

"Oh, Buggy? That brings back memories. We parted in Loguetown on the day our captain was executed, and I haven't seen him since. I heard he's still a pirate."

"To me, the time seemed to flash by. Many pass down stories about the days when you and Hawk-Eye used to duel like legends, but those days seem like yesterday to me. When someone of your caliber lost one of his arms in the East Blue, everyone was surprised. What enemy did you give your left arm to?"

Shanks touched his left shoulder and smiled at the memory.

"This... I bet it on the new era." He grinned.

"It's fine as long as you have no regrets."

"Whitebeard... I've experienced many battles and received many scars, however the scar that throbs right now is this one." Shanks said as he pointed to the scar on his left eye.

"This wasn't a wound from an adventure or one received from Hawk-Eye. The one who gave me this scar was one of your men... Blackbeard Teach." Shanks said.

The girl standing next to him flinched at that name. She was starting to regret her decisions little by little. Was leaving Ace really the best option?

"I didn't let my guard down. Do you get what I want to say, Whitebeard? He was quietly waiting for the right moment. He didn't became a commander or make his name. He kept his true self hidden and stood in the shadow of the great pirate Whitebeard all this time."

The girl stood quietly, trying her best not to move. Why was Shanks saying this now? He just told you not to worry. But you got it... He was just telling you not to worry. That's all. He never said that Ace was safe.

"And now, he has gained power and he started to make his move. In the end, he'll aim for the top. With his own will... He'll eventually come to take even your position." Shanks explained.

"What do you want me to do?  That's what you came to talk about, right?" Whitebeard asked.

"Please stop Ace!" Both Whitbeard and the girl looked at Shanks wide eyed, as Shanks said those words. "Although he's young, you made him your second divison commander. Ace is strong!  I know that much. But fame and trust make the matter complicated. It's still too soon to have those two fight. Stay away from Balckbeard Teach! That's all I want to ask."

The girl started to have hard time to breathe. What was going on? Was Ace... Was Ace going to come back?

However, Whitebeard only started to laugh, louder than he did before. The crew who was standing and waiting for the conversation to be over heard the laughter.

"To think you'd talk to me like that... That snot-nosed brat sure did grow a pair. His crime was killing one of his crewmates. That's the worst sin you can commit on a pirate ship. He broke the golden rule. Once I let them board my ship, they are all my children, no matter how foolish they are. Where can my killed son's soul go? It's my responsibility to show that idiot Teach that yoh can't make your way in the world if you lack a moral cose, right?! You got that, you idiot?! It's 100 years too soon to tell me what to do." Whitebeard finished his sake amd trew the barrel at Shanks, who immediately dodged it.

The girl looked at the sky and decided it was time to leave. She knew that staying there it would be suicide.

She started to slowly walk towards the others. Her breathing still didn't calm itself. All the fears she ever had started to flash in her mind one by one. All of them were about Ace.

"R-Red Hair, that bastard! What's he doing to the old man?" The girl heard a crew member ask.

"Hold on. He's not the type to pull a stupid stunt." A familiar voice said.

"But whatever discussion they had seems to have fallen apart. Look above. The could... No, the sky has been split!"

Once the girl was spotted by Marco, he ran towards her and so did then others. She tried her best to control her breathing so the others wouldn't get worried.

"What happened there?" They asked her. The girl just shooked her head and went towards the railing.

"Oi, (Name), what's wrong?" Marco asked as he touched her shoulder.

The medic of the ship examined the girl and gasped. "She's having a panic attack." He yelled.
