4 I Hide and Seek in Empty Corridors! With Some Guy Watching Your Every Move!
Having your future self going back in time and not telling you the reason why he went back is one thing.
Going on a mission to save a power sphere you previously had not known existed with said future self is a whole other thing.
---
4 a.m. in the morning. The alarm clock rang out loud. Dead tired, Boboiboy plucked it off his bedside table and flung it against the wall, turning over and going back to sleep. 5 minutes later, he realized what he had done, groan as he pulled the sheets off his face to clear whatever was left of his alarm clock.
10 minutes of getting back to bed and dozing off later, Boboiboy finally decided to pull his lazy self out of his bed, by falling off his bed, face first, onto the ice cold floor.
Great way to start the morning, eh?
Slightly wincing in pain from the fall, he blinked before surveying his room, trying to remember why he set his alarm clock so early in the morning.
Still seemed pretty normal before the strange white-haired guy had come to this world. Ochobot is still being charged as he continues to stay asleep, undeterred. Catto, meanwhile, was fast asleep on his table that was still messy as ever.
There was one person who was not present though, a certain crimson-eyed boy.
The one guy who thought himself as an invincible hero of some sort, when in reality, he's probably a sleep-deprived idiot who has been surviving on instant noodles.
Come to think of it, that might be true-
Should he ask that question to Reverse?
Not unless he want to live without his head on, obviously.
He turned to the sleeping bag that had been placed next to his bed for the past few days, expecting to see the white-haired male passed out on it.
The space next to his bed was empty. He and his belongings weren't there, not even his sleeping bag.
Rubbing his droopy eyes, he furrowed his brows, puzzled before his eyes settled on a single sticky note stuck against the wall. Reaching out a hand , he snatched it off and read the scribbled writing on it.
Hey,
Yea I got up earlier today. Mostly so that I won't wake up to you and Ochobot arguing again but also since I needed to check something out at the ship (Is that what you call it?) By the time you're reading this, I'm probably at the ship thing. Just come when you and the rest are done, and don't get yourself killed, please.
Reverse
Boboiboy raised an eyebrow, partially offended but questioning why he left for the space ship. It wasn't like he was banned from boarding the space ship, but still-
"Urghhh, Boboiboy...?" The yellow power sphere, still at his charging spot, cracked an eye open, looking for his human friend before finally spotting his outline. "What time is it?"
The brunette glanced at his power watch. "4.30. You might want to get up now. I'm going downstairs. If you need me, you know where to find me."
"Alright, just give me a few more minutes. I'll be done soon, just go ahead," Ochobot mumbled, resisting his urge to go back to his cozy charger as he drowsily zooms around the room, waking Catto up.
Watching the power sphere fondly, the brunette turned his back and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
---
A certain raven-haired boy was slowly approaching the space ship that was parked a few metres away from the well-known cocoa shop, mumbling nonsense under his breath.
If it was up to him, he would've just stayed in his cozy and warm bed till they have to leave (either they have to drag him out of bed or leave him alone on Earth), but noooooooo, why was he heading for the space ship at a bloody 4 a.m. then? You may ask.
Checking the systems in the space ship and other similar tasks. What else do you think he was supposed to do? Tap dance on the roof?
The boy slowly climbed up the stairs that had been lowered, yawning out loud. Once he made sure that the entrance to the insides of the space ship had been raised back up, he checked his power watch for a task to do, which turned out to be determining their course to the planet that they have been told to search for the power sphere.
Eh, not too much of a big deal.
He then headed towards the navigation room, his boots clanking on the metal floor with each step. That alone may sound a bit tense, especially when you're alone. Plus the fact that no one would hear him if he was attacked by anything, that added to the festive mood.
After a few minutes of walking around and accidentally entering the wrong room, the plain grey metal plating finally change its color to white, decorated with maps detailing all the planets that have been found in space and diagrams filled with scribbles and photos, indicating that he has reached the navigation room.
Fang threw himself onto the seat he would usually take during their missions, turning his computer on and waited for it to load.
Drumming his fingers on the table rhythmically while tapping his foot, he hummed to some sort of song that he had been listening to on his phones, rummaging through some documents and files when-
CRASH
Fang was about to jump out of his skin, startled by the sudden disruption. Furrowing his eyebrows, the raven-haired male took several steps ahead towards the main entrance to the navigation room before stopping just outside the entrance, hoping to hear another sound from whatever was making them.
There was no other sound besides the one earlier. Cursing under his breath, he chose to risk it, confident that he could handle whatever it was with his power.
Trying to conceal his smug face (and failing to do so), the male walked out, allowing whatever he was facing to have a good look at him before it crashes down on him. With his hands raised as if prepared to perform some kind of magic trick, he looked up and gazed at the face of his opponent...
...which turned out to be an unamused Reverse, who was carrying his own bag and a large pikachu stuffed toy.
"Dude. What's up with that pose?" the other male stated, jerking his chin at the raven-haired boy's stance. "You look like a wannabe hero of some sort of cringey story. No offense."
"Too late. That was harsh," Fang rolled his eyes.
Reverse gave a simple chuckle. "Sorry kiddo, that's how I talk to most people that I meet. Speaking of which, are you still envying my spot as the leader?" The white-haired male quirked an eyebrow, watching Fang's face turned to a very interesting shade of red before he could say a word. "
"Wh-what do you mean? I do-don't understand a word you're saying," the raven-haired quickly averted his gaze from the Reverse, believing that if he just ignre him, he would go away.
Sadly, Reverse continued to stay where he was, studying Fang like he was a new specimen form some unknown planet.
"Don't think I wouldn't know even at my age. You think you're more suited to be a leader so you're constantly trying to impress the captains and leaders, hoping for some kind of promotion," The white-haired boy said. "Eh, you don't really have much to worry about, honestly. Just relax once in a while."
Fang narrowed his brows, trying to find some sort of hidden meaning in the older boy's response before sighing, "I'm not really the type to have breaks very often. More of the workaholic type, maybe." He shrugged his shoulders.
"Ah yes, I can recall that," Reverse leaned against the walls, a look of calmness on his face. "Speaking about that, why are you here so early? It's about a couple minutes past 4.30 and you're already getting the ship ready. What are you trying to do? Steal the ship and run away with it? Gun us all down before leaving Earth? Steal the ship, gun us all down and run away with the ship?"
"Where are you getting all these ideas... Of course I'm not going to do that! Dude, I don't really know what Boboiboy thinks about me in the future but if there's one thing I am sure, I am not suddenly going to pop up, kill everyone who I've met and run away. That's not me." Fang defended.
"Uh huh. Yea"
"Also, what are you doing here then? I got a reason, whether or not do you believe me. What about you then?" The raven-haired boy jabbed at Reverse's chest hard, staring at him in the eyes defiantly.
Reverse faked a cough, his eyes never leaving Fang's. "I came here to check up on our resources that we would need during out mission. You don't expect us to go hungry when we're still trying to find the damn planet, do you?"
"Yes definitely, I would really like us to starve to death before we can even start our mission," Fang rolled his eyes. "Whatever, just do what you're supposed to do I guess."
Reverse turned his back to Fang, about to leave when the other male spoke again. "Hey! Where's Boboiboy? I thought he would be coming with you?"
"I left early in the morning while they were still asleep. Didn't want to bother them," said Reverse.
Fang sighed, finally realizing that this guy ain't going to be giving him any clear answers. "Alright. Call me if you need anything."
"Will do, kid."
---
Said kid was working on the engines of the ship a few hours later, kneeling down as he frown down on a patch of wires that he has yet to connect. Meanwhile, the person who called him a kid was standing behind him, watching him fix the wires, staring at him intensely as the kid, I mean, Fang, tried to discreetly glance over his shoulder, somehow not aware that the other guy was giving him multiple disapproving looks.
"You know you don't need to be so nervous in my presence right?" Reverse finally spoke, breaking the tension in the air.
"Oh why would I be? It's totally relaxing with you being around," The shadow manipulator rolled his eyes.
Reverse looked pleased for a moment, until Fang continued, "That was sarcasm, in case you haven't noticed."
"Now that you've mentioned it. I seemed to recall that you were almost quite unforgettable, especially with that tongue of yours."
"I'll take that as a compliment. Thank you very much."
Fang got up from his uncomfortable position and locked eyes with Reverse.
The two stood facing each other, both not really sure what else to say. They waited for the other to say something, anything really so that they could just get the heck out of there, but none said a word. Until Reverse finally got sick of it.
"So... when are the rest coming over?"
"Should be soon. We already agreed to come here early in the morning. So they should be coming around..."
There was the sound of gears moving before being accompanied by the steps of people entering the ship, with said people chatting with each other.
"...and here they are. Let's go welcome them then." Without waiting for the older male, Fang turned on his heels and headed for the entrance, trying to ease the unsettling butterflies in his stomach.
---
"It's been so long since Justice has entered this space ship! Oh how nostalgic it is!" The one and only, Papa Zola, announced as soon as the entrance to the ship closed up behind them.
Ying frowned as their captain skipped through the corridor, completely forgetting about his crewmates, "He does know that we've only been here for less than 5 days ago, right?" The Chinese asked.
"Papa Zola seems to enjoy being back here, so I guess that's what matters," Boboiboy replied, trying and failing to stop the smile on his face from spreading.
The pink-clad girl followed behind, hovering a few centimeters off the ground, deep in thought, "Hmm... what did Commander asked us to do again? Find another power sphere?"
"Yea. Thing is, he didn't tell us what kind of power sphere we're supposed to find," Ying huffed. "Would be easier if he can tell us."
Gopal frowned, not really catching up to what the others were talking about, "Couldn't we just call him again? It won't take a long time right?"
"Here's the problem. They have no information about the power sphere. It just suddenly sent a distress signal to us, identifying itself as one and requesting for help before something cut off our communication. They haven't been able to contact it again," The brunette shoved his hands into his pocket, clearly worried about the unnamed robot that's sending random calls to nearby station.
"Well, let's hurry with this mission then if we want to retrieve them! We can't keep them waiting," The little yellow robot cried, rushing ahead in front of everyone else.
The Indian boy scratched his head. "Since when was Ochobot ever this excited during a mission?"
"Maybe it's because you're all pretty late, while I've been here setting this whole place up."
The rest of the team snapped their head towards the source of the voice as a certain shadow manipulator stepped out of the - you guess it - the shadows.
"Came here a few hours ago and since we're going to be leaving early, I had to get the ship ready. You're all so late." Fang announced, frowning at the others like a boss would frown on his workers.
"Just in case you aren't aware, we all agreed to come here at 6a.m. so that we would still have time to prepare the ship together. No one told you to come so early, so you can't blame us," Yaya crossed her arms, slowly descending to the ground for a landing.
The male narrowed his eyes, trying to think of some clever comebacks but only to find his mind as blank as a piece of paper. he cursed under his breath.
"Tsk. Whatever. The ship's ready so unless you want to be left behind, y'all better start doing what you're supposed to do. Meanwhile, since I did all the work from earlier, I'll be off for now-"
"All the work???" A voice called out, gaining everyone's attention as Reverse revealed himself.
He was leaning against one of the entrances to the other part of the ship, one hand in his pocket while the other tossing a coin into the air. He was facing the group, a look of disappointment and annoyance on his face.
"To Hell with that. If I hadn't took pity on you, you would still be stuck fixing those wires." The white-haired male snarled, his eyes fixated on the shadow manipulator, who at that moment, was more concentrated on trying not to wet his pants.
"Right... Reverse helped me out with some of the tasks since he was here also," Fang switched his focus to anything else besides those crimson eyes, trying to avoid eye contact. "So I didn't exactly do everything by myself...."
"That's one thing you're correct about."
"Whatever. The main thing is, the ship's ready and good to go so if we want to start our mission, the first thing we would need to do is to get our ship airborne without crashing into the first building we see, is that alright?" Fang looked over to the rest for some sort of objections. No one said a word, minus Reverse's fake coughs.
"Alright then. Fang, Reverse, you guys can go have a break first. We'll take over and bring the ship out of Earth's atmosphere in one piece. We'll summon you if anything goes wrong." Boboiboy said, nodding his head at the two males as they grudgingly agreed.
"With that being said, we should probably head to the control room too. Who knows what Papa Zola may be doing there," Yaya sighed, having a clear idea of what their captain / teacher may be doing inside that room.
With that note, the team split into two groups, with one group heading to dorms while the other tasked with not killing any of them.
