chapter 7

AFTER HER SHIFT AT Merlotte's, Alex didn't really have the energy to do anything else except for sit down at the bar beside Hoyt. It had been a awful day, seeing her friend being carried into the corner's van and all. Alex traced the bar top with her fingertips, her other hand was intertwined with Hoyt's.
"I can't believe it you know?" Hoyt questioned and Alex nodded. "She was always so nice, I never even got to talk to her. And when I did, it was just to tell her I wanted a burger." Hoyt looked down, beating himself up, until Alex patted his arm.
"I know sweetheart. It's awful. I can't believe it either, she was such a good friend." Alexandra leaned her head against his shoulder. She grabbed her beer and sighed, she's really gone.
Arlene walked up to the bar, signaling to Sam for two Margaritas. "That Dawn sure left us high and dry, didn't she?" She rugged on her apron and Alex looked over, her eyebrows furrowed.
"It's not like she didn't mean to be here, Arlene." Alex pursed her lips and continued to lean her head on Hoyt's shoulder. Sookie had joined them, listening to Arlene with a hand on her hip.
"I know, but if she didn't spend her nights off at that vamp bar in Shreveport, she still would be." Arlene have a flat smile to Alex, knowing that the blonde had been there before. She squirmed under her gaze and looked away.
"Did I just hear you right, Arlene? You ought to be ashamed of yourself." Sookie scolded the redhead and she scoffed.
"Oh, please. Ain't there even a part of you think she had it coming?" Arlene scratched the back of her neck and Sookie shook her head.
"No! Not a single part. And I'm taking your ranch!" Sookie snatched the ranch dressing from her tray and Arlene rolled her eyes, going back to the back to get her ranch.
"Hoyt, I think I'm gonna head on home. As weird as it sounds I'm just not in the mood to drink tonight." Alex looked up at her best friend and gave him a soft smile. He nodded and kissed her forehead, "If you need anything call me. And lock your doors." She nodded, pulling her arms through her jacket and waving goodbye to everyone.
Alex looked down at her feet, making sure nothing was in her path. She grunted when she bumped someone, she put her hands out instinctively so she wouldn't hit the ground hard, but she didn't hit the ground. She opened one eye, peeking up at Bill who had caught her. If it wasn't for vampires and their fast reflexes she would have a few knots on her head.
He helped her stand up and she brushed off her shorts. "Lord, thank you, Bill. I would've busted my ass." She pushed her glasses up on her nose.
Bill nodded with an amused smile on his face. "You're most certainly welcome. Is Sookie in there?" He asked, already knowing the answer.
"Yes, but I kinda want to tell you, a friend of ours was murdered last night. We just found out this morning, Sook is actually the one who found her, so she might be shook up." Alex smiled and patted his shoulder, giving him a goodbye nod and going on her way.
Instead of going home, Alex made a split decision turn to go to Fangtasia. If Eric hadn't got her a phone by now she was going to raise hell. Plus, if Adele really wanted her to find help, they were her best bet.
She grabbed her money, stuffing it into her pocket and walked through the front door, the guard immediately let her in. Pam greeted her, a devilish grin. "Well now, here I thought we scared you off." She looked Alex up and down, realizing her outfit choice: Bon Temps High School T-shirt and jean shorts, wasn't the best.
Pam's fangs clicked, "What happened to your hand, princess?" She nodded her head in the direction of Alex's bruised hand. She had picked out the glass, which had left tiny cut marks on her knuckles.
"I got into an altercation with a cop. It's fine, I'm fine." Alex brushed it off even though her hand was swollen and hurt like a bitch. Pam popped her fangs back in and Alex almost let out a breath of relief. She had totally forgotten about the tiny scratches. "Can I talk to Eric?"
"Sugar, you're VIP. You can always talk to him." Pam once again put her arm on Alexandra's lower back, leading her up to the stage. Eric looked up and had a smirk on his face, almost like he had been expecting her.
"What a pleasure, Ms. Stackhouse. We certainly missed you last night." Eric stood, grabbing her swollen hand and placing a kiss on the broken skin. She angrily pulled her hand back, scowling at the vampire infront of her. "I want a new phone."
"I have a new phone." Eric gave her a devilish smirk, "Ginger!" He called loudly. Not even 5 seconds later, a woman came out, dressed in God knows what. A leopard print bra, and a tiny black leather skirt. She was a skinny little thing, and she seemed ditzy. She was holding a small Blackberry phone, one that was a lot more advanced than Alex's old flip phone. It was strikingly similar to the one Eric had hidden in his pocket.
Eric took the phone and a black charging cord from the blonde woman who just sent a big grin to Alex. He waved her off and handed the phone to Alex, who inwardly smiled. She furrowed her eyebrows when she was scrolling through her phone. Every single contact was there, plus two more. All of her pictures seemed to be there, as well as her ringtones.
"What the hell? How did you get all my shit on here?" Alex plopped down in the seat next to Eric, placing one of her legs under herself. Eric took is rightful seat on his throne and glanced at Alex.
"You forgot a few pieces in my office. One being your memory chip. You're welcome, it took a while to get it on that phone. Your other device looked like it was from the Middle Ages." Eric's face showed no emotion as he watched her. She was so distracted with her new device that she almost forgot the second part of why she came to Fangtasia.
Her head popped up, and she placed her phone and the charger on a side table. She ran her tongue over her teeth and looked at the long haired vampire. "Thank you for the phone."
"Eric what did you mean when you said I wasn't human? And that I didn't smell like a human?" She was worried what the answer was. Of course she thought she was something more. Her whole life she had been different. Alex was a freak to the people who didn't know her.
"Everything about you is different. You don't know how breathers smell to us. Delicious. But you, I'm surprised you didn't get attacked as soon as you stepped in the parking lot. It's intoxicating. It's almost irresistible." Eric pushed his hair out of the way so he made sure he stared into her bright blue eyes. "Almost."
She slouched down in her seat. "Fuck me." She muttered. Before Eric could make a sly comment she spoke again. "I don't know. I told you and showed you what I can do. And you still haven't apologized by the way. I woke up so sore yesterday morning."
"Out of context, it sounds like you two had a fun time the other night." Pam smirked, earning a glare from Alex. Eric was about to speak when Alex pulled out her flask, unscrewing the top. Eric swiftly grabbed it from her hands, "If you want anything from the bar Longshadow will make it. You can't keep snuggling outside alcohol inside my bar."
Alex nodded, "Whiskey, straight." As soon as she said that, Longshadow was infront of her with a nice hefty glass of the dark liquor. She smiled a thank you and grabbed the glass from him. She rested the glass on her thigh and looked up at Eric. "I drink so I won't have as many visions. The alcohol makes me not have a clear head, which makes for no visions."
"I have yet to see you completely sober." Eric hummed, looking her up and down. His lips quirked upward seeing her casual outfit. She was so out of place but yet, not out of place at all. Alex was comfortable there, which was dangerous, but it amused him. "I think that would be a challenge."
"I'm a challenge anyway." Alex smirked, gulping down the rest of her whiskey. She sat the empty glass on Eric's side table and clicked her tongue. Her eyes widened when she looked at the door, seeing Sookie and Bill walk through. Pam flashed down, going right up to them.
"Oh shit." Alex let her head thud to the back of her chair, Eric glanced over and then back to Bill and Sookie.
"Friends of yours?" He hummed, whipping out his phone. Alex sighed, "Kinda. My sister and her boyfriend. I gotta go." Alex was getting ready to stand and sneak away when Eric placed a heavy hand on her bare thigh. She quietly gasped at his cold touch.
"Oh come on now, I think we need a good family night." He rubbed her thigh slowly which made Alex melt into his touch. She pursed her lips and watched as he drew his hand back towards his phone.
A man, that Eric has noticed was staring at him slowly walked up to him. He got down on his knees and placed a hand on Eric's shoes. Eric looked at Alex who wasn't paying a bit of attention, and flung the man off with a single shake of his leg. Alex's head whipped around and she saw the man in the flannel crash into a table, injuring his head. A vampire, Taryn, introduced herself and grabbed his hand, speeding off with him somewhere.
"Eric!" Alex scolded, her wide eyes stared at him and he just shrugged. She looked between him and the broken table. Her hand went up to her head, squeezing the bridge of her nose.
"You should have a sign that says do not touch or some shit." Alex lifted her head, looking at the vampire infront of her. Eric traced her expression, the corner of his mouth twitched up into a smirk. "I am the sign."
He turned his attention to Bill and Sookie. "Alright you part-time alcoholic, it's showtime." Eric tapped her thigh gently. Alex looked down at his hand, which went back to his position on his throne. She squirmed slightly, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt as Eric waved his hand to summon Bill and Sookie.
"Bill Compton. It has been a while," Eric's eyes trailed up to the vampire. Bill glanced at Alex, who gave him a slight wave. If he didn't know Alex, he would've thought they had glamoured her by the way she was sitting with Eric.
"Yes, well I've been mainstreaming." Bill cleared his throat, nodding at Eric, who moved his gaze over to Sookie. Alex watched as he looked up and down, his eyes scoping every inch of her body. She sunk down in her chair, her eyes flickering to Pam who's eyebrows were raised. It made her feel a spark of jealousy, if she was being honest and she hated that.
"Uh, yes of course, Eric this is my friend," Bill stuttered, introducing Sookie but Eric finished his sentence for him.
"Sookie Stackhouse." He hummed, "Alexandra's sister I believe." Eric glanced at Alex who popped up at the mention of her name. His gaze dropped down to her lips for a split second, but he brought his attention back to Sookie.
"How do you know my name? And my sister?" Sookie gulped, a big grin on her face. Her posture and facial expressions were normal, but Alex saw in her eyes she was begging to leave. It wasn't Sookie's scene.
"I never forget a pretty face, you're in my vault." Pam said slowly as she tapped her head, "As for Alexandra, well she's a friend." She shrugged. Alex turned around in her seat, sending Pam a large smile. The vampire curled her lip up in disgust at the thought of a human being her friend, but to keep up appearances for Eric she would do anything.
"It's nice to meet you!" Sookie exclaimed, holding out her hand to Eric. He simply looked at it and she slowly put her arm back to her side. Alex raised her eyebrows and tried to suppress her laugh.
"Aren't you a sweetheart." Eric smirked, glancing at Alex who's eyebrows were raised.
"Not really." Sookie griped, Bill instantly clutched her hand and Alex frowned, she didn't understand why Bill was so hesitant around him. Eric and Pam exchanged words in a different language, the same language they were speaking the other night.
"Sookie, why are you here?" Alex finally broke her silence. She stood up, brushing her shorts off, "This isn't really your scene." She gestured to her younger sister's outfit. A white dress, her hair pinned back in cute curls. If Sookie wasn't already embarrassed, Alex would have had a good laugh.
"Miss Stackhouse, I understand you've been asking questions about some of my customers." Eric glanced up at Alex, answering her question. Something clicked in Alex's head and she scoffed. Sookie was here for Maudette and Dawn.
"Yes I have," Sookie replied, occasionally glancing at Alex who stood there curiously, with her arms folded.
"If you have anything to ask, you should ask it of me." Eric folded his hands together and leaned back️️. He grabbed Alex's elbow lightly, signaling for her to take a seat.
"All righty," Sookie couldn't help but notice Eric's pull over Alex. But she shook the bad feeling away and pulled two pictures from her purse that was hanging off her shoulder. "You recognize either one of these girls?"
Eric moved to the edge of his seat, looking closely at the two pictures. His hair covered his face as he glanced down. Pam looked as well, peeking over Eric's head.
"Well, this one offered herself to me. But I found her too pathetic for my attentions." He tapped on the picture of Maudette, "Now this one, however, I have tasted." Eric's gingerly traced the picture of Dawn.
Alex scoffed, she went to grab her new phone, her fingers brushing Eric's arm. Suddenly there were people yelling and running, cops busted through the doors and flashlights were shined into her face.
In a split second she was back in her seat and she felt something fall onto her lip and she reached her finger up. She dabbed her lip and pulled back, blood dripped from her finger to the floor and Eric's fangs dropped. Alex looked at him with wide eyes and he immediately put them away. Bill stepped over, offering Alex a handkerchief he kept in his pocket.
"Let's go to my office," Eric stood up, placing a hand on her back. Bill and Sookie looked worried but Pam distracted them enough to get them to turn their gaze. He pushed her through the crowd quickly, locking the door when they walked into his office.
Alex quickly grabbed a handful blood colored napkins off of a shelf and held them to her nose. She quickly backed away from Eric who was looking at her with inquisitive eyes. Suddenly another set of images ran through her head. Sookie, Bill, Eric, Pam and Alex were standing in the middle of the club. It was completely empty and they were searching to find the person who stole $60,000 from their books.
"You saw something important. What was it?" Eric slowly walked towards her, towering over her tall frame. She was shaking slightly and she gently unpinched her nose and looked up at him.
"The club is about to get raided. We have to leave here in ten minutes. Also check your books, see if someone has stolen $60,000." Alex blurted out, not wanting to hold it in any longer. Eric took a moment to consider her words and he flashed his fangs, inches away from her face.
"That is a grave offense. How accurate are you?" The threatening look on his face sent shivers down her spine. She slowly backed away but then cursed herself when she found the edge of the desk behind her knees.
"100 fucking percent." Alex spat, glaring at the blonde vampire. Eric tilted his head, he knowing he couldn't exactly glamour her. He let his hand go up to her face and slowly trace her jawline. The sparks on her skin felt like a trail of fire.
"Have you ever had vampire blood before?" Eric's lips drew up into a no good smirk. He backed away from her, letting her take a few steps away from his desk. Alex crossed her arms, looking at him with wide eyes. She slightly shook her head, and Eric lifted his wrist.
"It's a great stress reliever. It's almost like euphoria, just a drop and it will change your life forever." Eric dropped his wrist to his side and watched as Alex sucked in a big breath.
"I'm sorry, but vampire blood is something I do not want to get hooked on. I might dabble in some weed, but that's as far as I go doing drugs." She held her hands in front of her, motioning for him to drop the topic. Alex watched as he pricked his finger, his fang piercing into his own skin. Drops of blood poured from his finger, she was almost hypnotized by the dark red liquid.
"When taken straight from the source, you don't get the rush straight out. It takes days, weeks, so you won't get addicted. The reason I want you to have my thousand year old blood is because of its other special attributes." Eric raised his eyebrow, giving her the suggestion but she said nothing. Alex licked her lips slightly, her eyes not leaving his finger.
"Go ahead." She mumbled, pushing her hair behind her ear.
"If you have my blood in your system, I will feel you. You and me will be bonded. If you're ever in danger I can get to you in a matter of seconds. I'll be able to keep tabs on you." Eric persuaded, his voice sauntered around in her head and she sighed. "It will also heal your hand, completely." Alex looked down at her swollen hand, she grimaced at the large cut and bruise.
"This is insane, I'm not gonna drink your blood! That's-it's disgusting." Alex frantically shook her head, biting on the inside of her cheek. Eric took a step towards her, almost taunting her.
She mustered up the courage to take a few steps closer to him. He pricked his finger once more, and she slowly grabbed it, but not before making eye contact with the vampire. Alex gulped and closed her eyes, taking her tongue and lightly tracing his fingertip.
She couldn't believe what she was tasting. The blood, his blood, didn't taste normal. Normally you would taste the iron like, metallic sticky substance and be disgusted. But Eric's tasted like heaven in a blonde Swedish bottle. Her lips wrapped around his finger started to please him, in fact he was enjoying it a little too much, if Alex had anything to say about it.
But she didn't, the blood distracted her. The only thing she was focused on was getting as much as she could until he pushed her off.
"Alright, that's enough." Eric watched as she pulled away slightly, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.
Alex couldn't help but stifle a laugh as she watched her hand heal instantly. She balled up her fist and let it go, giving a glance at Eric who was watching with amusement. She threw a hand over her mouth and giggled, "I feel amazing." Alex could feel every bone in her body relax, and she was busy popping her neck when Eric grabbed her hand.
"Okay, come on, we have to get back out there. They're going to think I killed you." He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and led her back to the stage. Pam was talking to Bill and Sookie, they both looked pretty uncomfortable.
"The guy in the navy baseball cap is an undercover cop. The raid is gonna happen in about a minute. We have to get out of here." Alex looked up at Eric, then at Sookie.
"We have to get out of here there's an undercover cop, he has backup coming." She pressed and Pam's eyes darted to the boy in the navy cap.
Eric shrugged, "I believe you, but we have done nothing illegal here." Sookie shook her head, "There's a vampire named Taryn in the ladies' room with that man you kicked before. She's feeding on him."
Just as Sookie said that, the police barged through the door holding their guns up. "Freeze, don't move!" Eric grabbed Alex's hand, "Follow me." Pam, Bill, Sookie, and Alex walked fast, as Eric opened a hidden back exit.
They parted ways and Eric turned as Alex walked with Sookie and Bill. "See you tomorrow, Alex. And I enjoyed meeting you, Miss Stackhouse. You will come again."
