While this book was a little slow overall, I found myself laughing myself to tears several times throughout reading. Genuinely, I haven't laughed harder reading a book in a long time, if not ever,
This follows John, a ten year old boy living in a village who turns to really be Edward, Earl of Warwick, a contender to the English throne. What follows is a deeply researched, thick plot to fill my royalty obsessed brain. The only reason this book wasn't a five star? It was so fucking dragged on at some points. I get why some parts were elongated, but Christ, there comes a point.
If you like humor, political schemes, a corruption arc, a bit of heartbreak, all taking place in the heart of late medieval England? This is your book. I was rooting for John the entire ride, even when he made choices that made me want to smash my head into a brick wall.
