Calm the fuck down!

Del's arms were shaking as he held out Mina's unconscious cub toward the doctor he often kept on call. Thankfully, the man was still there, having needed to stay a little longer to deal with some paperwork. Unfortunately for Del, even though he was in his human form, he couldn't speak at all. His wolf just switched between whining and growling as he nudged the cub into the man's arms.

"What happened, sir?" The man said as he carried the little lion into an X-ray room.

After quickly dawning the protective gear, he snapped a few shots, then brought Mina out to settle on an exam table. It was clear that the tail was broken, but the leg was a toss up.

It might just have a nasty bruise, or a fracture.

Those things would heal much easier than a broken bone.

The doctor disappeared for a moment to retrieve the X-rays, then hung them up on one of the his light-boards to examine the results. He was silent for several moments as he went through each picture, but the images didn't look good.

When the doctor turned toward him, Del tried to calm his wolf's growing worry.

"Well, his back leg is broken. It's clean, but it needs to be splinted and then wrapped. That can be done when he's either human or lion... but the tail."

He knew exactly what a broken tail meant, and Mina would throw an absolute fit about it the second he was awake again.

Let me have control, wolf. I need to come back so that we can help Mina. Del told his shift. He wasn't used to it ever splitting from his own conscious. The second he had felt Mina's pain through their bond he had managed to return to his own mind and shift back to his human form, but his wolf still refused to relinquish control.

I know you're worried about him, but we'll be able to help him much better if I can talk to the doctor. He's going to need to ask questions and I can't answer them with you in control. He told it as calmly as he could. He wasn't used to having to be nice, but he had absolutely no choice in the matter right then.

"Are you able to talk right now, sir?"

Let me out, please.

When his wolf still refused and shook his head, the doctor frowned.

See if you can get his phone and call Buck. You know he'll do anything he can to help us, and in turn, help Mina.

His wolf nodded his human head as it looked around. Spotting the doctor's cell phone on a table, he walked over to it and held it up to the man. Catching onto the hint, the man ran over and unlocked his phone, then put it on the keypad for dialing.

You know his number. Get Buck on the phone, then hand it to the doctor.

He did as told, waiting until he heard Buck pick up on the other end of the line before handing the phone the doctor with a nod. There was a brief conversation about him and Mina before the man hung up with a reassured smile on his face.

"Alright, that cleared up a few things. I'm going to get your friend into surgery and fix him up. Go ahead and take a seat and I'll bring him back out once he's all set." The doctor said with a smile as he carefully began to wheel Mina's prone form away.

It took everything in him to keep his wolf from moving his human body into the surgical room, but he somehow managed.

You did what you needed to. Let me take over, please.

His wolf wined and squatted down on the floor, but refused to give him control until Mina was being brought out of surgery.

"Finally." Del grumbled as he straightened, stretching his sore body before walking over to where the doctor stopped.

Mina's back leg and tail were both shaved and a thick bandaged covered his left back leg. His tail was also wrapped, but it was much thinner, with a splint rod so that he wouldn't be able to bend it and it would heal correctly.

He's not going to be able to shift back until that's healed.

The room was quiet for a few minutes as the doctor wrote down a list of things he would want him to do in order to take care of Mina. He briefly considered hiring a nanny, but just the thought of someone else touching what was his made him lift his upper lip to bare his teeth.

"Here you go. This is a list of everything that needs done. You can give it to his family." The doctor said with a smile that had Del's hackles rising.

Fuck his family.

Grabbing the list, he skimmed his eyes down it and bit back a growl. He was always busy with his business, how was he going to find time to wash him by hand with a bag over his tail and leg? He also had to bring him meals and make sure that he didn't move around much. He considered giving Mina back to his family, or at least his brother, but immediately shoved the thought away.

No, mine.

Lowering the list, he sighed out a stressed breath and pointed at Mina's sleeping lion.

"Can I take him now?" He asked, wanting to get out of the sterile-smelling room.

The doctor pursed his lips and shrugged. "You really shouldn't move him, but are you going to listen to me on that?"

Hell no.

Del grabbed several thick blankets from one of the other tables and carefully moved Mina's lion onto them.

"Wait a second. If you really have to take him, just take the whole table. I have to advise you not to just carry him. His bones were just set. You could cause permanent damage." The doctor hurried to say.

Forcing back his annoyance, Del grabbed the edge of the wheel table and started pushing it toward the door. The doctor ran ahead to hold it open for him while at the same time setting several bottles on the table.

"Pain medicine and pills for infections. Make sure to check the incisions and keep them clean." He warned, earning a grunt from Del as he hurried down the hall toward the elevator.

I feel like my damn skin is crawling.

His wolf also wouldn't stop pacing in his mind, making him antsy.

I need to run, but I can't leave him, and Buck is gone.

Magnus was also gone when he got upstairs. He'd felt Buck leave through their bond, but not seeing Magnus around was worrying. They had to have left together, and he didn't like that one bit.

"Whatever, I'll deal with that later." He told himself as he finally got Mina into his room.

Now where the hell am I going to put you.

He thought about the bed, but then immediately nixed the idea.

Looking around, he pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head. He couldn't think of a single place that would be decently comfortable, except...

"The closet."

It was a huge walk-in one. Him and Buck didn't have too many clothes, either, so half of it was empty. Just need to move some things.

He hurried inside and started pushing hangers together and moving outfits around. Pretty soon there was plenty of space on one side, while still leaving enough room to walk in and out safely without risking stepping on Mina. Grabbing a few of the extra comforters over his head, Del got them situated on the carpeted floor, then made a little nest with them. Once he was content with his work, he wheeled Mina's sleeping lion as close as he could get him, then gently lifted him into his arms.

Ow...

"Welcome back." Del said quietly as he knelt down and carefully got Mina situated in the mound of blankets.

He could feel the pain beginning to come through their bond and quickly got up to get a cup of water and two of the pain pills, along with one of other.

"I've got some medicine for you if you think you can take it." He said as he sat down next to Mina.

His lion didn't respond, which was no surprise. He set the cup by the wall and returned the pills to the bottles before setting them beside it. Leaning back against the wall, Del stared down at Mina for a long while, just listening to the static he knew the young man was likely unable to control. He couldn't really understand much of it, but it didn't bother him as much as he thought it would. The pain, also, wasn't unmanageable.

Leaning his head back, Del reached forward and set his hand on Mina's soft fur.

"Get some sleep if you can... and wake me up if you need anything."

Why do I feel like I've been hit in the head with a sledgehammer?

Groaning, Magnus tried to roll over, only to realize that he couldn't.

What the hell?

Blinking open his heavy eyelids, he tilted his head back and scowled.

"The fuck? Why am I handcuffed?"

He definitely wasn't at a police station. Flaring his nostrils, he took in several deep breaths, then growled them out before snarling. "Deer!"

Hearing the sound of someone approaching, Magnus looked toward the doorway and waited a few seconds before Buck appeared. He was holding a book and nudging reading glasses up his nose.

"You've been asleep for almost seven hours. It's close to three in the morning." He said calmly.

What the fuck is going on?

"You better have a damn good explanation for handcuffing me to your bed." He snarled, lifting his lip as his shift fought to come out. The only thing that was really stopping it were the cuffs.

"And why the hell do you have these kinds of cuffs?" They were blocking his bog, which was just making his temper worse.

Buck remained quiet for a moment before stepping into the room and setting his book down on the nightstand after folding one of the top corners to mark his place. "I have those cuffs because I bought them." He stated simply.

He slid his glasses from his nose and folded them before setting them on top of the book, then looked up. Oh, damn. He looks like he's about to fall over.

"And I cuffed you to my bed because I figured that you would prefer it over the floor. Was I wrong?" He asked calmly.

Magnus ground his teeth together as he flexed his right arm, intent on swinging it forward and snapping the part of the frame his wrist was connected to. When he wound up to do just that, however, Buck spoke abruptly.

"Stop."

He paused automatically, but then glared at him. "Why the hell should I?"

Buck sat down beside him on the bed.

"Because I told you to. I'd also appreciate it if you didn't destroy my bed."

Magnus relented, but just barely. His muscles kept tensing, coiling for the possible fight that he knew likely wasn't coming. Buck was half asleep as he stared down at him, and as the man reached over, Magnus bit back every instinct he had in himself to keep from biting or grabbing him.

When Buck's hand settled on his bare chest and began to rub gently, Magnus finally let his head drop back down to the pillow. "Where did my shirt go?" He rasped as his eyes closed on their own accord.

Buck added another hand, making Magnus groan in appreciation.

"You threw up. I threw it out, then cleaned you up." He said as his hands slowed to a stop, then one traveled leisurely upward along his chest and neck, coming to rest against his cheek.

The touch had Magnus opening his eyes.

"Uncuff me." He ordered, his voice gravely with the need to sleep more.

Buck met his gaze but shook his head.

"You won't behave if I do that."

Damn right I won't.

"Uncuff me." Magnus said again.

Buck's head slowly tilted forward as his eyes inched closed, but right before he would have fallen over he snapped his head back, then shook it.

"Uncuff me, and we can both get some sleep." Magnus said quietly.

He could grab Buck if he wanted to, but it was unlikely that he was dumb enough to have the keys on himself... and he also didn't want to hurt him. It was an odd notion, considering how aggressive he tended to get. He was a serial kidnapper for someone who profited off of murder.

Buck's head bobbed again before he hid a yawn behind his hand.

"Buck."

Let me go.

"You know you want my arms wrapped around you." Magnus growled quietly as he tugged at one of his cuffed wrists.

Buck looked away as he ran a hand through his messy hair.

Damn it's rare when he's this disheveled.

"What are your rules?" Magnus finally asked on a calming exhale.

His question had Buck's closing eyes blinking back open. "Rules?" He mumbled, clearly about ready to pass out.

Not wanting to lose his chance, Magnus fought back his instincts and gave a slight nod.

"Yeah, rules. What will get these cuffs off of me?" He asked.

He didn't remember much of what happened after he'd gotten drunk, but Buck never liked to take shit from anyone, especially him, and he could faintly recall the man ordering him around at some point before he passed out.

Buck frowned down at the blanket between them as he whispered his response.

"Clothes stay on... and you don't attack me."

There goes both of our plans. I want his clothes off and my bog wants to taste how delicious his blood would be on his tongue.

"Fine. Clothing stays on... and I won't try to hurt you." He ground out.

The faint look of relief on Buck's face made Magnus's chest ache as he watched the man reach over to his nightstand and retrieve a key. Just having him lean over his body as he worked on removing the cuffs was making it hard for Magus to keep his shift under control. Everything around him already smelled like prey, and having the man so close...

Don't.

When both of his cuffs finally came off, Magnus sat up and began rubbing at his sore wrists. Thankfully, they weren't bleeding, but there would likely be a bruise or two from the metal having dug into his skin a bit.

 Bastard deer.

Narrowing his eyes, Magnus turned his darkening glare toward Buck, only for his eyes to slowly widen back to normal as he released a sigh. What kind of shit are you playing at? Buck was curled up on his side beside him, quiet snores telling Magnus that he'd already fallen asleep.

"You don't even know how to sleep right, stupid deer." He grumbled as he easily lifted Buck's shoulders up and moved him until his head was on a pillow.

Shaking his head, Magnus reached down for the zipper to his own pants, intent on removing them since he hated sleeping with clothing on... but then he remembered.

"Dumb ass rules."

He glared down at Buck again, but the man just continued to snore quietly as his breathing started to even out in sleep.

"Fine. I bet you're just playing with me. You think that I can't handle something so simple without attacking you or trying something?" He said, then grunted as he fell over and yanked Buck's body against his own.

"Well fuck you, but not tonight. You don't deserve it tonight. You'll just have to wait until I feel like rewarding you, cause' clearly you're just jerking my chain now and will wake up as soon as I try something. So I won't..." He grumbled, his voice growing quieter the longer he spoke. Eventually, his words died off into silence, but even as he fell asleep with Buck's head tucked beneath his chin and the man in his arms in a slightly too-tight hug, his lips continued to move ever so slightly, silently telling Buck all of the reasons why he wouldn't do anything that night, and how he could sometimes behave if he really, really tried.
