Fire (lyttlejoe) (3)
Fire
The yellow line zig-zagged down
'What was that?' Glug asked, with a frown
'Don't know.' Grog scratched his head.
Glug then followed where he led
A wriggling light danced in a dead bush's branches
Grog crept closer, not taking any chances
He reached out and touched the light
Leapt back, yelling in fright
Glug came to defend with a pointed stick
Surprised when the light grabbed hold so quick
She ran to a cave and threw it inside
And suddenly the interior was amplified
'Grog! Look! A gift from the gods!'
Glug jumps, excited, and applauds
Grog comes closer, still holding his finger
Not too keen on wanting to linger
Then from on high, they heard a choir
Singing, 'Hey, y'all, we call that fire!
And here's a lesson you can learn,
Keep feedin' it fuel and it'll always burn.'
So as time passed, they tamed the light
For heating, cooking and delaying night
And as their kids grew, they began to inquire
So Glug and Grog told them the story of fire
The zig-zagging line they saw that day
Changed all their lives in a very big way
And they made sure they learned - all seven
That fire came from a match, made in heaven
