Moonlight Masquerade

"All the world's a stage and we are merely players," Shakespeare used to say,

but Life isn't a play.

Life feels more like a masquerade.

A ball where everyone's in disguise.

I wonder what they hide?

I wonder if anyone will ever be their true self?

Will they - one day - put their mask on the shelf?

Shall they be accepted by the crowd?

Or will the booing be so loud?

So loud they put back on their mask?

So loud being someone else becomes their task?

Or will the world realize

Society was wrong all along?

Will - one by one - our masks come off?
