The mood was set when they arrived, teens radiated heat, bodies gyrating. She could hear their blood pounding through their veins. It was intoxicating, their hearts slamming in their chest.

She relished in the burning sensation. It put her on edge, driving her mind to work. Her throat ached, the blood calling to her. Erica felt like she was high, her head spinning with the feeling.

She trailed behind her sister. The beautiful redhead parted the crowd easily, boys watched in wonder at the sight of her. Erica would have felt jealous if she could bring herself to care. Humans were below her status; never would she find herself desperate enough to pine for their attention. She believed it would be an insult to her brother.

"Vicky, love, do you mind if I get a little something to eat?" Erica questioned the girl, leaning in close. She let her lips graze the girl's ear, well aware of how it affected those watching.

"Stop teasing, just go." A laugh danced her lip as Victoria pushed her away.

Erica found herself weaving through the crowd, a sly grin fighting its way onto her face. The other vampires were close, their presence weighing heavily on the back on her mind.

Those repulsive, animal drinking, vampires were nothing but weak. Every fiber of Erica's existence pushed her forward, daring her to act out her vengeance. It would be simple, in her mind. She would move quickly, removing the tiny one first. Her ability to see was dangerous and Erica new that when the time came, she would need to be impulsive.

Gliding among the weak, she kept her senses aware of the surroundings as security, a part of her keeping tabs on Victoria.

The outside breeze was a drastic change. No longer did she feel suffocated by the scents, her hunger dissipating from her previous state of starved.

There were few people outside. Couples danced in the twinkling fairy light, the moment being romanticized by the setting sun. Twilight was her morning; the nocturnal predators began to wake. She felt at home among them, hunting the hunters brought things to a beautiful ending.

In the distance, in the far corner of the area, stood a gazebo. Her eyes locked onto the human girl quickly. The sight of her still broken body thrilled her. The vampire, Edward, held her close, his lips terribly close to her throat.

To the blind eye it would like an intimate moment, but Erica knew differently. Edward's teeth could be seen peeking past his lips, Bella's anticipation clear on her face.

The cold vampire couldn't help but feel pity for the human. Bella desired nothing more than to be with him for eternity, yet he was too weak to give it to her.

He was a joke.

Humming lightly, she moved across the lawn, letting her powers loose. A hand lifting forward and a flick of her wrist, she shot a crystal blue bolt towards him.

Erica was on high alert, not sure what her actions would ensue. Something was definitely meant to happen.

It connected with his face just as he turned to face her. It struck him between the eyes, his body freezing on impact.

She observed him, the way his eyes followed her but he did not move. It was like his mind was frozen and there was no doubt in her mind that she could have done worse if she tried.

"Bella," her voice echoed across the decreasing space. "What a lovely surprise to see you here."

The small human had the grace to look scared, she backed away slowly.

"Hush now, dear. I am not here to harm you." Erica approached with a skip to her step. "I'm just here for a bit of chit-chat."

"Chit-chat?" Bella asked incredulously.

"I'm here as your obedient servant, my dear." She smiled wide, her dark eyes twinkling in the evening light. She could hear her heart, the tiny organ pounding mercilessly. It was music to Erica's ears.

"Tell me, Isabella, what did you think was about to happen here?"

Bella's eyes widened in surprise, her hands fidgeting uncomfortably. "I'm not sure what you mean..."

Erica placed her feet onto the wooden paneling of the gazebo with a frown. The stupid student dance ad an awful theme, but at least she could change the theme and show off to Bella.

She slid her heeled foot against the wood, blue ice following her movements. It spread quickly, beautiful patterns swirling around. Twirling her fingers, snow began to fall softly. The nearby flowers and decorations began to turn white. Frost left intricate trails.

Bella's audible sound of awe caused a small smirk to grace Erica's lips. She had exceptional abilities and she knew it.

"A personal winter wonderland," Erica pulled Bella from her thoughts. "As long as I will it, it'll stay he same."

The human nodded her head thoughtfully. "Why are you here?"

Erica glanced back in the direction of the school before answering.

"My dear sister, Victoria-" a harsh snarl ripped from Edward's frozen chest, "- wanted to familiarize herself with the town's occupants."

The human stuttered, "Victoria?"

Humming softly, she picked her way around Edward and towards the girl. "Do not worry, she is not here to inflict any harm. At least not today."

The frozen vampire snarled anew.

"So tell me, young one, what did you think was going to happen?" She questioned rhetorically. "You want him to change you yes, but do you have any notion of how selfish he is? Your mate is meant to be someone you would do anything for, give anything for. Your mate is much too weak; stuck in his deranged ideals that he won't do right by you."

Bella's mind reeled at the vampire's words, knowing deep down that she is right.

"I offer this to you once more," Erica spoke clearly ensuring that Edward understood every word she said. "I will be more than willing to change you, you simply must come to me. I'll protect you, offer you a place, by my side, in my coven. Whenever you are ready."

A whistle sounded from the woods, a flash if red hair among the dark trees. Erica smoothed her dress and repositioned her hair.

"It was lovely speaking with you, but I must be going." Erica patted the human's shoulder lightly before turning towards her sister. She gave Edward a smile, satisfied by the amount of hate she could see in his eyes.

"Remember, little one. When he does wrong by you, I will be waiting. When it is a choice between my sister and myself, I truly hope you make the wisest decision."

Erica flew towards her sister. Finding her easily, the pair made their escape. Snow covered most of their scent. They were smart, the took precautions that were calculated.

Coming across a foul scent, they slowed to a halt.

"Do you smell that?" Victoria spoke first.

Erica breathed deeply, her head tilted back in concentration. "It's oddly familiar. We have come across this smell before."

A jolt of both pain and realization hit her. They had tracked this scent before with James, never had they found it.

"I want to follow it." The sense of a challenge filling her.

"Not now," Victoria advice. "It's too risky."

The blonde scoffed. "I can get us out of any situation, you know this. You are more than capable of ensuring our safety."

"With an angry coven behind us? It is too dangerous!" Victoria hissed.

Erica growled in agitation, reminding Victoria of her missing mate.

"I will come back to this," her voice held determination. "I won't let them evade me again."

She left quickly, stepping into the region, using it to cover her trail.

"Were you serious? About what you said to that human?" Vicky asked softly as she kept pace with her sister.

"Hope is a wonderful thing to have, my dear. It pains him, makes a distance grow." Her words were clipped. "I was serious to a certain extent. She would be a wonderful addition, but only long enough to kill that precious little coven."
