Bai Luo Yin was back at his old school. The first few days were tougher than he thought they would be. He was thankful that his two friends Yang Meng and You Qi were there to keep help him get readjusted. This was the middle of his second week there.

"You've changed a lot." Yang Meng complained from the desk next to Bai Luo Yin whose gaze was on his phone. "You're always on that thing." He added feigning a frown.

Without him realizing, Bai Luo Yin had been replying to a string of messages that Gu Hai kept sending.

"I still can't believe you actually got a phone." You Qi commented.

Bai Luo Yin looked up at his friends finally. "My dad got it for me when I went to that school."

"Well seems it's very useful for you now." You Qi tried to take a peek at the screen.

Bai Luo Yin instantly moved it away from his line of sight. So nosy!

Since Bai Luo Yin left, he and Gu Hai had not been able to meet as often as they planned to, given that Bai Luo Yin had some catching up to do. The entire mess involving Ming Shu and Shi Hui had settled down for the time-being. However Gu Hai kept inquiring constantly if Bai Luo Yin received more calls from Shi Hui. Even their ongoing conversation was about it. He started typing again.

Bai Luo Yin fumed at Gu Hai's unreasonable assumption.

After finishing lunch Bai Luo Yin was headed back to the class with his two friends when he was greeted with a surprising sight. Outside his class stood Shi Hui, clad in expensive attire.

Yang Meng instantly turned to look at his friend while You Qi was just as astonished as the rest of the boys passing by. Bai Luo Yin felt uneasy, yet he approached her.

"What are you doing here?" He muttered. He noticed that she was even prettier than before, yet he felt indifferent about it.

Shi Hui's excited expression faded. "That's the first thing you've to say to me when you're seeing me after ages?"

'Well sorry for not being delighted about you showing up here with no warning.' Bai Luo Yin uttered in his head.

"Anyway I just wanted to talk to you." Shi Hui added. "You're even more handsome than before." She commented.

Yang Meng dragged You Qi inside to the class.

"The school isn't over yet you know." Bai Luo Yin pointed out.

"Well I can wait." Shi Hui smiled.

Bai Luo Yin decided that this way maybe he could actually talk some sense into her properly. He really wanted to settle this once and for all. "Okay". He smiled before walking in to the class.

As Bai Luo Yin assumed, she was still outside waiting when classes ended. He first checked his phone. No new messages or calls from Gu Hai.

Shi Hui smiled warmly. "Shall we go somewhere, is there a café nearby?"

"Well sort of." Bai Luo Yin nodded and led the way.

Numerous students watched them as they walked outside towards the main gate.

"My car is this way!" Shi Hui spoke, pointing towards the left.

Bai Luo Yin turned and followed her in quick steps.

Unbeknownst to Bai Luo Yin in, the far distance of the right side, a familiar car was parked. The man inside clenched his jaw as he watched Bai Luo Yin get into the pretty girl's car. The insecure part of Gu Hai had tightly held onto Bai Luo Yin's words from their last text conversation. Thoughts such as why Bai Luo Yin was worried about people noticing him chatting constantly had flooded his mind. Their relationship was still at its early stages, and hence trust was something that slowly had to be built, and it required a great amount of communication and understanding. Therefore, Gu Hai had found himself wanting to pay Bai Luo Yin a surprise visit. He even cut his last period to be there on time. Yet here he was, witnessing the last thing he anticipated. His heart was racing at an alarming rate. He did not know who the girl was, but he if he had to guess, he'd only say that one name he hated.

'Bai Luo Yin, didn't you say you'd tell me if she contacts you' He questioned internally. He calmed himself down momentarily before he started typing.

'It's barely been two weeks since you left and you're already lying to me?' Gu Hai thought with an aching heart. He did notice how Bai Luo Yin's replies didn't come instantly as if he was hesitating before typing. He started the engine and carefully followed the girl's car.

The girl's car came to a stop by a café not too far from the school. Gu Hai stopped at a spot which was fairly hidden. He watched as the two got off and walked inside. He had to fight the urge to barge in and drag Bai Luo Yin away. He had almost opened the door to get out when he noticed the two sitting down at a table by a window. A part of him felt incredibly guilty for spying on Bai Luo Yin this way. But the other part of him kept reminding him that he had a right to do this as Bai Luo Yin was his and his only. He believed that nobody with intentions of taking Bai Luo Yin away from him should be allowed to be even under the same roof with Bai Luo Yin. After managing to calm himself down a bit, he decided to give it 10 minutes.

"So what do you have to say?" Bai Luo Yin decided to get straight to the point. Small talk was never his forte.

"Bai Luo Yin., I know it was wrong of me to try to get through to you by consulting your mother. I had forgotten that your relationship with her isn't that good. Just-"

"You know Ming Shu?" Bai Luo Yin interrupted, ignoring everything she had just said.

Shi Hui's eyes widened. "Yes.. he's an old friend."

"You not only tried to use my mom to get to me, but also got Ming Shu to spy on me." Bai Luo Yin pointed out.

Shi Hui shifted uncomfortably. "No Bai Luo Yin! I only asked him if he knew if you were seeing anyone there."

"So you assumed I was lying."

"Yes."

"So what did he say?"

"He said you were indeed seeing someone, and... that he could help me in getting you back."

Bai Luo Yin watched her crossly.

"But soon after that he called and said your relationship was just an act to deceive someone. He said you're absolutely single and encouraged me to meet you."

"So he conveniently left out the part that the person I wanted to deceive was you." Bai Luo Yin said more to himself. At least that's the full lie he told Ming Shu.

"Me? But why??" Shi Hui asked gloomily.

"Cause I'm not interested in getting back together with you." Bai Luo Yin said bluntly.

Shi Hui hesitated before leaning forward. "I know you're scared-"

"I may be single but I like someone. So basically there's no space in my heart for you or anyone else."

"You're were mine first!" Shi Hui said close to tears.

Bai Luo Yin exhaled impatiently. He knew if he said what he wanted to say next, the girl would break down right there. "Please Shi Hui. Respect my feelings. Stop thinking about me this way."

Even from his position, Gu Hai could identify the tension between the two. But before he could get out, somebody tapped on one of the shutters on the other side. He turned to see Ming Shu there.

"Funny running into you here!" Ming Shu said with a feigned cheerfulness.

Gu Hai opened the shutter. "Are you following me??" he barked.

Ming Shu wasn't fazed. "Nah I just came to meet up with an old friend" he pointed at Shi Hui and Bai Luo Yin's direction "..but seems she already has some company so I thought of waiting outside. I've arrived too early anyway."

This time Gu Hai angrily observed Bai Luo Yin reaching out to comfort the crying girl. He instantly grabbed his phone and called Bai Luo Yin. He watched as Bai Luo Yin simply looked at the phone and possibly silenced it and kept it aside.

Meanwhile, Ming Shu was carefully observing everything from the side.

Gu Hai got out of the car. "You! Wanna grab a cup of coffee?" He asked Ming Shu,

Ming Shu was beyond shocked.

Guilt and irritation had already consumed Bai Luo Yin by the time Shi Hui stopped weeping. What he saw next though made his jaw drop.

Gu Hai entered the café, followed by Ming Shu, neither of them seemed to have noticed him and Shi Hui. The two sat down face to face at a table at the far end. Then Gu Hai smiled at Ming Shu who swallowed hard. Bai Luo Yin quickly picked up his phone and called Gu Hai back. But he didn't even bother taking it out. Shi Hui noticed that Bai Luo Yin's attention was elsewhere now. Hence she turned to see what grabbed his attention.

"Ming Shu!" She said upon noticing them.

Bai Luo Yin looked at her.

"He's supposed to meet me." She said. "Why is he with someone else?" she muttered to herself.

Bai Luo Yin got up. "Let's go find out."

He walked over to their table closely followed by Shi Hui.

Gu Hai looked up and met his cold stare. The things that the two boys wanted to say could not be said in the presence of the other two people.

"Shi Hui!" Ming Shu smiled. "I came early and ran into my friend."

"Clearly" Bai Luo Yin commented with his eyes still on Gu Hai.

Ming Shu looked at him. "Oh by the way this is Gu Hai, Bai Luo Yin's step brother." He said to Shi Hui.

"Gu Hai." Shi Hui smiled. "Wow you're his step brother?!"

"You two know each other?" Ming Shu asked.

"Yes!" Shi Hui answered.

"Sorry I can't recall ever having met you before." Gu Hai replied coldly before standing up.

Shi Hui's smile remained nonetheless. "Well.. I know about you."

"I told Gu Hai to come and pick me up." Bai Luo Yin suddenly said.

Ming Shu and Shi Hui exchanged confused looks.

"Let's go!" Bai Luo Yin said to Gu Hai like the angry wife he was. Then Bai Luo Yin started walking out and Gu Hai followed like the obedient husband he was.

Despite how furious he was about being lied to by Bai Luo Yin, he kept following until they reached a far corner.

"What was that about? Did you follow me?" Bai Luo Yin asked angrily.

Gu Hai gritted his teeth. "You dare to ask me that after lying to me??"

Bai Luo Yin didn't reply.

"Have you been seeing her all these days that we couldn't meet ha?"

"Think whatever you want!" Bai Luo Yin started walking away.

Gu Hai grabbed him by the hand. "Get in!" he pointed at his car.

"No! I'm going home!" Bai Luo Yin brushed his hand away.

"Like hell you are!" Gu Hai grabbed his hand again.

"Gu Hai! She's the one who showed up today at my school with no warning. She wanted to talk. I decided to personally talk some sense into her! I was planning to tell you afterwards!" Bai Luo Yin explained angrily.

Gu Hai's expression still seemed doubtful. "You ignored my call. You should have answered! I don't like the fact that you met her alone."

Bai Luo Yin looked away.

"So was it successful?? Is she gonna stay away hereafter? Gu Hai asked mockingly.

"I don't know!"

Gu Hai took a deep breath before starting to walk back to the café.

"Gu Hai wait!" Bai Luo Yin ran after him.
