paper rings
the four years old jungwon was having a fit. he was jealous, very jealous!
what happened?
well he was happily skipping his way towards the park where all the neighborhood kids was. it was part of his daily routine to play there, he's also friends with everyone.
but he of course has a favorite, his jay hyung.
jay is a six years old kid, he is one of the oldest one there along with his three other friends. he is a sweet and nice kid, he's a dependable hyung to everyone which cause him to become jungwon's favorite.
jungwon felt excited to show him the cat he draw during his time at daycare. both of them loves cat despite being allergic to them so jungwon would always gift him something related to the said animal.
but his smile dropped when he saw his favorite hyung with someone else. what made it worse is that jay was handing a bunch of flowers to someone else! what annoyed him more is that the two was smiling widely at each other.
jungwon is of course too young to understand what he was feeling, all he knows is that he wanted to cry and yell at them.
"oh hey jungwon! you're finally here." heeseung noticed him, making everyone turn their heads at him.
"hyung! let's play at the sand box." a three years old ni-ki excitedly screamed, trying to break free from his nanny's hold.
"are you okay?" sunoo take notice of his glossy eyes. "did something bad happened at day care?" he says, concern dripping on his tone.
"nothing!" he unintentionally snaps at sunoo. he felt sorry immediately but was too overwhelmed with emotions to say sorry.
he stomped towards jay and a girl he has never seen before. jay's eyebrows were furrowed, confused as to why the younger was glaring at him.
"you said I'll be your one and only! you promised!" everyone was surprised with his outburst.
jungwon started crying loudly, accusing the older with breaking his promise and that he was a liar. poor jay didn't know what to do.
"wonnie calm down. please stop crying." jake tried to calmed him down but he cried harder instead.
"how dare you make hyung cry! I no likey jay hyung anymore." ni-ki started hitting the older with his little hands, his nanny having a hard time stopping him.
"hey jungwon, sunghoon hyung can give you flowers too if you want one." sunghoon handed him a flower but only got ignored.
"I hate you, jay hyung!" was jungwon's final words before running back to their house.
jay felt hurt hearing that from and he still doesn't understand why jungwon started acting like that.
"what did you do jongseong?" heeseung ask in a stern voice.
"what hyung? I don't know as well!"
"jungwon wouldn't be crying like that if you didn't." sunoo says, rolling his eyes.
"I swear I don't know why. I was just handing flowers to my cousin before he came and start yelling at me."
jay defended himself but he was really worried of jungwon. it was the first time jungwon got upset of him and he even claims he hates him! oh he was only trying to hold back his tears, afraid to get teased by their playmates.
ni-ki's nanny let out a chuckle. "oh innocent young love. it's cute witnessing something like this."
"do you know why jungwon is crying?" jay asked eagerly.
"well wonnie probably saw you giving your cousins flowers and got jealous. he must have thought you were replacing him as your favorite."
"what? replace him? that's absurd! he'll always be my favorite."
"hey!" the kids said in chorus. they were a bit offended with what they heard.
"I'm just telling the truth." jay shrugs.
jungwon's mother finally succeed in making him calm down. she was startled to see her son running home with tears in his eyes and ranting about how his favorite hyung doesn't want him anymore.
"I'm sure jay still likes you, wonnie. you are his bestfriend after all." he assures him.
"but he was giving another girl some flowers! how about me? he never gave me one! someone told me before that you give flowers to the one you want to be with for the rest of your lives. well I want to be with him for the rest of my life so I sometimes give him flowers but he never give me one back!"
Mrs. Yang can't believe the words she's hearing from jungwon. who taught his young son all of these?
"I'm also planning to ask him for marriage too m--"
"yang jungwon what do you mean marriage? you're too young for that!"
"but mom I want to marry hyung. I love him so why not?" jungwon was about to cry again but his mother hushed him.
"yes, I'm aware of how you adore your hyung but you're too young to think about marriage." his mom giggled. "is my son developing a crush?"
"I am!"
"what? you also know what that means? I might have to speak to whoever taught you all this."
"it was sunoo hyung. it's because he kept telling me about his crush on--" his words were cut off when there was a faint knock on his bedroom's door.
his mom was the one who came to open it and it showed the boy who was part of their topic.
"hello! Mr. Yang let me in the front door so I hope you don't mind me being here. I'm actually here to talk to jungwon."
Mrs. Yang was hesitant to let them see each other since jungwon might hasn't fully gotten over what happened but she felt bad seeing how gloomy jay looks.
"jungwon, I'll leave you with jay. he's here to talk to you."
jungwon looked at jay and scowls at him which scared the older. his mom only let out a short laugh before leaving them.
they were now sitting beside each other with jungwon avoiding to spare him a glance.
"wonnie I'm sorry for making you jealous."
that's when jungwon finally looked at him. "jealous? I'm not jealous! why would I be?"
"but that's what ni-ki's nana told me.."
"well then she's wrong! I don't care if you like someone else now. then be her bestfriend, I really really really don't care!" he says that but there were tears streaming down his face again.
jay let out a sigh before pulling him into a hug. he gently rubs his back as a way to calm him down.
"wonnie don't worry because you'll always be my bestfriend, my favorite. no one will surpass that. never."
"but why are you giving someone else flowers? flowers are only for the one you love! who even is she anyway?"
"she's my cousin, wonnie. aunt made me take care of her for awhile." he explained. "also, I love all of my friends and that includes you of course."
"but hyung... I'm the one you love most, right?"
"well you can say that." jay laughs. he can imagine the complaints of their other friends.
"then does that mean you'll marry me when we grow up?"
jay got surprised of what he heard from jungwon. he's aware that jungwon is fond of him, but he didn't think that it was to the extent that he wants them to marry someday.
jay blushes at the thought of that.
"you want to marry me someday?"
"well I do love you hyung and if you love someone then you must marry them. that's what mom and dad did."
jay having lack of knowledge with marriage just decided to agree with him. well he can't deny that the thought of marrying jungwon someday made him feel giddy.
"okay, let's get married someday." he nods and then hands jungwon something. "it's a good thing I made a paper ring before going here. heeseung hyung said I should give you something."
jungwon gasped and smiled widely. it was a blue paper ring! jay holds his hands before slipping the ring on his tiny fingers.
that sealed their promise of getting married with each other someday.
who would have thought that an innocent promise and a piece of paper would mean a lot? specially now that after years of being by each other's side, they are now on their way to an actual wedding of theirs.
something cute to make up for the lack of updates teehee
