CHAPTER 1: Him

CHAPTER 1: Him

He can be anyone.

He can be Micheal John, a Korean-American show manager who has a mustache and a semi-bald haircut. He can give you easy fame. He can secretly swap your name with someone on the list of contestants so you can take the poor person's place instead. All you have to do is pay money.

He can be Yoon Siwo, a very charming mechanic with tattoos on his sleeves, glistening with sweat as he wore a sleeveless top. He can fix your car. He can make your car move faster and sturdier so you can cheat on your upcoming drag racing. He can replace your old car machine with a special and exclusive one, even though there is really no such thing but of course, you don't know that since you're a newbie. All you have to do is pay money.

He can be Koh Hodong, an unwealthy student with a large mole on one side of his nose. He's wearing large and thick glasses that make him whine mentally because it's motherfucking heavy. He can help you enter your desired college by taking the entrance exam on your behalf because you're too lazy to study. Of course, all you have to do is to pay.

But there is one thing he won't tell you.

He said he can help you do this and that, but he didn't say he will.

You see, he is really good at making himself become anyone.

That indeed, as long as Kim Seokjin can make him look like one, together with Kim Namjoon who plans everything and teach him how to portray that one.

Yeah. They're motherfucking conmen who will run away after receiving your payment.

Hence sometimes - one time - he can be a waiter with no name at your grandiose party in your own mansion. You're too careless about your staff, and he looks like he can serve your guests perfectly because he can move so swiftly. You even watch him catching a bottle of wine before it hits the floor. He can be impressive, you see, so you didn't mind him stealing something behind your back - which you also stole from someone last month - and then vanished before you know it.

That earned him an eight million won worth of necklace, which he gave to Min Yoongi first - their accountant and hacker - before he took his vacation. Though he hasn't got his share in terms of money because they are still figuring out how to sell it, he can bravely trust him. They've known each other for years and saved one another from near-death experiences. He has the most important role in the team after all, without his brilliant and persuasive acting skills, they wouldn't even have a single penny. Anyways, this might be the biggest achievement they've got so far, thus he really does deserve to have some time to rest before getting into a new task.

And that's how he ended up finding himself grinning at how fresh the rural wind is, carelessly speeding off his brand new motorcycle on a hillside because there is no police to chase his joy away. Ah. To be free and rich.

And he drives and drives, feeling the thrill of his fake freedom as he listens to an upbeat song through his earbuds. He knows that after this short while, he will be back at the game. He wished to escape that kind of life and start anew, but it's too late now and besides, it's the only thing he knows to do to survive since he was a teenager - Fuck this! He should be relaxing! He wanted to comb his hair back with his hand, but he remembered he was wearing a helmet, so he scratched his nape instead.

He could see everything above here. Blue sky, green mountains, and a small suburban village at the feet of the hill. Ah. Relaxing. That made him wonder how his life would turn to be if he was living there instead of their apartment complex. Can he sleep there peacefully?

But by the looks of those wide farm fields after fields, he knew he won't be sleeping because he simply wanted to but because of exhaustion. There is no way he will become a farmer.

But then at least if he is one, then he would be safe to breathe, to love-

His phone suddenly rings, catching him off guard as he was about to drown himself in his dramatic thoughts. He sighed, not sparing a single glance to his phone. He won't answer it because come on! He's on vacation!

However, fifteen seconds have passed and it's still ringing.

Annoyed, he groaned before glancing briefly at his phone - a motorcycle phone mount keeping it in its place - and swiping up to answer the phone call.

"What is it, hyung?" There are only four of them who know about this phone number he is using apparently, and he's the youngest among them. "Didn't we talk about not bothering one another during vacation? If it's another emergency mission, I swear—"

Then he heard unfamiliar chuckles all of sudden.

"Hyung?" He took another quick glance from his phone screen and fuck. It's an unknown number. "Who are you?" He narrowed his eyebrows skeptically despite knowing the fact that the latter won't be able to see it. Something is wrong. Terribly wrong.

["The last time I remember you were calling me sir, not hyung."] He could hear the latter's huge grin from the other line. It's distinct from the tone of his voice. ["I guess you're on a ride, I could hear your motorcycle engine from here. Shit, it's noisy-"]

"Who the fuck are you?"

He heard the other guy chuckle again. The anonymous guy surely loves laughing and it's putting him on edge even more.

["Esmeralda."] The anonymous guy spoke calmly as if saying that one word is enough for him to know who he was. ["Just bring my Esmeralda back to me and we will be good. Do you hear me, twenty-three year-old Jeon Jeongguk?"]

"W-what?"

Only two Kims and one Min know his real name and real age. Yes, he does have a few distant relatives back in his hometown but only God knows if they can remember him still- fuck! He himself can't remember most of them at all and there is no way they have something to do with Esmeralda shit.

Fuck, fuck, fuck-

The next thing he knew he was flying before loud crashing sounds and darkness engulfed him.

A/N Okay. How was the first chapter?

I am not quite sure about this LMAO, this is just me trying new things. I hope I get to finish this book in the future.

Don't worry, I have outlined the next chapters, so all I have is to write.

I haven't reread this whole chapter by the way so it's unedited, I'm too eager to publish it straight away SKSKSKKS

I hope you like the first chapter.

P.S.

In Korean, 'hyung' is an informal honorific used by males to call their fellow males that are older than them. This is mostly used to call a close friend or a family member.
