CHAPTER 26

Classes finished, submissions done, exams over. It's time for the party to begin. Cameron as the president of Music Club and Anuradha as the president of Dance-Drama Club opt to make this year farewell to be one of the best in their college history.

Long hours of discussion with the college authority, Anuradha and Cameron finally got an approval and a date from them to hold the event.

Normally events as such used to be held in the hall within closed walls but after convincing the management, they agreed to let them use the huge courtyard for the farewell event. With wider space, both Anuradha and Cameron threw ideas of having food stalls, music and dance performance to go on for the whole day.

Shortly after they announced about the farewell party venue, many more clubs and societies joined hands to make it even merrier. Clubs that were not in good terms too joined.

As everyone was busy in getting the preparation done, Manohar and Manoj were handling the sound system.

"This is not at all fun" Manohar grumbled as he carried the amplifier to the stage with Manoj.

"Why don't you sing and entertain us, that will be fun, right?" Manoj said throwing the wires to Manohar.

"Yeah right" he said with his eyes rolled skyward.

While they were on the stage, Manohar noticed Anuradha being extremely quiet for the past few days and only choose to talk when approached. As far as he knew Radha, there wasn't many situation as such where she choose to be quiet and even if she is, Radha would recover soon before anyone even notice it. For Manohar, he always wish to see people around him be happy and joyous especially his closed ones.

"Radha..., you seem to be very quiet, is everything alright?" he asked after settling the speaker issue they had a while ago.

"Yes, everything is good" she answered flatly.

"You don't look like that" he followed her, "let me help you with that" he took the banner from her and hanged it on the wall.

"I'm absolutely fine. Now, help me hang the rest of the banners on the other side of the courtyard too," she said walked away. He realised her voice cracked but soon got diverted with her casual voice tone over a small conversation she had with Christopher.

"Radha, wait. I need one more help from you before I leave. Just one."

"I have been going for an audition organised by the Chimp Limited London branch, managed to go through three rounds of audition."

"Congratulations!" she smiled feeling happy for his effort for his dream taking shape.

"Thanks. The fourth round is, they are allowing us to bring one or two people to bring my composition alive during the audition. So, I thought of performing my final project on that day. Will you come?" he asked.

"When is it?" she asked.

"Two days after our farewell party"

"Will be there. Text me the location and the time" However she tried to hide her emotion, Anuradha looked depressed, that she being as such was really bothering him. Yet he had no idea how to help her.

Event that's been happening in her house ever since she gone back home a week ago has been terribly disturbing her. Neither her father nor her mother was trying to fix the glitches between them. Anuradha had been noticing a lot of changes in her father, Kamlesh who used to keep calm, try not to aggravate the situation with Kavitha is now doing complete opposite.

Kavitha once had raised her hand to Anuradha for questioning her for sneaking money from the company which lead Kamlesh to land his palm on Kavitha. That was the first ever for Anuradha to witness her father in such anger. Since then there were continuous arguments in the house that suffocated Anuradha despite being in a big house.

Almost every senior and junior student were gathered at the courtyard. From body to body they were so tight it was almost impossible to see what was going on the stage, only the music that drifted over their heads gave anything away.

It was an unrestrained joy, being with friends not worried about the pending assignments and the exams. Everyone was having fun with the music blasting loud, the entire college was on lit.

Two on stage wasn't even expecting so many would be cheering for them, the least they expected was their small group of friends that would be doing that.

Anuradha and Manohar took the center stage while Manoj, Christopher and Cameron were ready with their guitar, keyboard and drums respectively behind the two. This time it isn't just one song but after so much of compulsion they management to get Anuradha agree to sing another song.

By the end of the second melody, there was nothing but a momentary silence before a thunderous applause echo in the courtyard. Anuradha was still puzzled if her singing was really nice that everyone was cheering for them or was it for Manohar's charm.

She left the stage and let the boys take over the night performing songs of their composition which they did for their first performance before ending the event.

Manoj and Shika was determined to ask both Anuradha and Manohar about their feelings for each other the next day itself. After watching them both performing together, the eye contact during the performance, Shika and Manoj confirmed that it is definitely love happening.

*-*-*-*

"Anu, I need to talk to you" Shika pulled Anuradha to her room as soon as Anuradha came to the hostel to bid goodbye to her friends.

"What is it?" Shika remained quiet all the way to her room.

"Will you at least tell me now, Shika!" Anuradha asked again as they entered Shika's room. Empty room.

"I thought maybe I should give you some realisation"

"On what?" Anuradha took a seat at the study table.

"About Karthik Manohar" Anuradha said nothing but waited for Shika to complete.

Taking a deep breath Shika said, "Don't you think you should talk to Karthik about this?"

"About what?"

"Oh god, Anu! Do I have to explain to you?" Shika walked to Anuradha and hold her shoulders. "Don't you realise what's happening in you?"

"No! What's exactly happening in me, Shika? Care to explain because I have enough matters to think about already" Anuradha did not  budge to her friend's pestering on her about Karthik Manohar. Shika was on the verge of ripping off her hair.

"That you are unknowingly developing feelings for Manohar?" Shika's words baffled her.

"What?" Anuradha shoved Shika's hands off. "Are you out of your mind?" she raged.

"No, I'm completely fine, Anu. You are the one not realising it and denying the fact that you actually like him" Shika retaliated.

"It's not about I like him, Shika. It's about you want me to accept that I like him which I don't! So, stop talking crap" Anuradha walked pass her an stood against the wall, arms crossed over her chest.

"Crap?! I just want you to realise your feelings, Anu!"

"There isn't anything to realise, Shika! I.DON'T. HAVE.SUCH. FEELINGS.!"

*-*-*-*-*

"The way you look at her, the concern you have for her... oh yeah, the song that you wrote for her. What do you think it means, Karthik?" Manoj questioned when Karthik denied his feelings for Radha.

"The song means nothing Manoj. Please don't complicate things." Manohar was clear in his mind that there is nothing between him and Anuradha. There is nothing to name it as what Manoj said. "If there is any relationship I have then it's only the love for music and nothing else. So, let's drop this topic here"

Manohar didn't want to spend the remaining time talking about something that isn't beneficial for him or anything that doesn't concern him. Within an hour after talking with Manoj, Manohar left to Scotland bidding farewell to the remaining friends in the hostel.

"All left?" Anuradha joined the team of three.

"Yeah, Karthik just left. Where were you?" Cameron asked.

"Just here with Shika" she replied.

"Ahh.. okay the cab is here, it's time to say good bye friends" Manoj sighed, giving a farewell hug to all.

"Bye, love birds. Have fun!" the three waved at the couple who are leaving for a short gate away to Paris.

"And here we are, I'm going to miss you Butterfly, Cam." Christopher said with a half-smile.

"You are talking as if we aren't going to meet again" Cameron gave a light punch on Christopher's stomach.

"Anuradha, please take a picture of me with this idiot here" Cameron handed his phone to her.

"Ohh... what about me?" she asked position herself in front of them. "Chris, you are not in the frame"

"I know, just go ahead and click. I'm going to give a stunning pose that Cam will frame the picture and hang it in his house. Bet you" Christopher said rolling his sleeves up.

Not just one snap but n number of snaps of them three together making faces along with memories to be cherished.

"It's hard to say good bye and I'm not going to say good bye to any of you..." tears filled her eyes "I need you both, especially now." Anuradha said as her tears ran down her cheeks.

"I knew there is something wrong! What did your mother do this time?" Cameron wrapped her in his arms as she wept, Anuradha merely shook her head.

"Butterfly, I know you don't like to talk about your family issues but if anything goes wrong, do call any one of us. Do you get it?" Christopher ordered.

Anuradha nodded wailing in Cameron's arms as he stroked her hair in comfort. "And I don't like you crying" Anuradha broke the hug extending one of her hand out to Christopher asking him to join the hug.
