CHAPTER 30

Cameron waited at the King Cross station after he received a surprise call from Manoj. Both, Manoj and Shika left to London the next day after Karthik Manohar call and shared the news that he met Anuradha, Cameron and Christopher. The one thing that delighted them both was Anuradha was the reason for his new composition which had given a stronger reason for them to convince Karthik.

After a solid two years, they are about to hear the magic of Karthik's music, again.

Manoj and Shika parted ways, as Shika took a cab to Anuradha's office and the other to her house where Manohar is currently staying. The guys had a meet, greet and cursing session for missing in action for the past three years, out side the station right after they sent Shika off.

Reminscing the good old days, Cameron and Manoj kept on talking about things that they missed in college and how they used to sneak out of class for various reasons.

"So, how did you get my number?" Cameron asked, remembering they had lost touch three years ago.

"Manohar gave. What happen to the three of you after college? None of us could get through any one of you." Manoj asked.

"That.... hmm.. let me make it short for you. We were at the London Bridge that day and Anuradha was holding our phones while we left to help an uncle, that is another story. So, in our story, a guy from nowhere bumped into Anuradha who was standing barrier... and guess what? That was the last time we saw our phones. It fell into the river and gone all your contacts." Cameron narrated as he drove Manoj straight to Kensington.

Manoj continued to make funny remarks over the situation that happened three years ago and what kinds of conclusion they end up thinking about these three. As they continued they chat, Manoj thought of the fake pair act that both Anuradha and Karthik did during college.

"Cam, what do you think of Anuradha and Karthik?" Manoj asked after a long silence.

"uhmm... now or then?"

"both"

"To me, it looks like both have interest towards each other and probably they don't realise or pretending perfectly as they don't Cameron replied and said nothing further but only listened to Manoj who was narrating Karthik Manohar's story.

Anuradha stood still with her arms crossed over her chest, eyes boring into her opponent's. They have been playing the stare game for quite sometime and neither of them broke the eye contact.

After a sometime the opponent voiced out her anger, "You lady! Where the hell have you been for all these years? Do you know I have been searching for you and eventually lost hope? Did you ever tried to look for me? Me, Shika!" screamed Shika, pointing to herself.

Breaking her stern look into a smile, "Shika? Do you have kids already?" Anuradha asked all of a sudden.

"What? No!"

"No? But you are acting like a panicked mother of five kids" Shika's anger turned sad and confused as Anuradha grabbed Shika's hand, walking towards the elevator.

"Anuradha, do I look like that" Shika asked stopping midway, pouting and received a mere side to side head shake.

"Come on, mommy I need to talk to you"

"Don't call me mommy" Shika grunted. She stared at Anuradha as they got into the elevator and soon her frowned face turned to a happy one, Shika hugged her tall friend.

"Oh, I missed you"

"but I JUST met him after three years. How can you say that, Shika?" Anuradha paced back and forth in her office room.

"So, what if you just met him after three years? You know him since college, isn't that enough?"

"It doesn't make sense Shika. It's just mere hours I met him yesterday, how can that.. that... this... thing happens?" Anuradha drew something in the air with her hands trying to explain her confusion through her action.

"Why don't you listen to what your heart trying to say? What are you fearing for Anuradha?" Shika stood in front of Anuradha stopping her from pacing. Shika somewhat knew that there is an issues bothering Anuradha but just couldn't make out because Anuradha isn't letting her know her problem.

"I don't know. I don't know, Shika. All these feeling seems to be very different... new..." Anuradha shook her head and sat on her revolving chair.

"I don't know why and what you are fearing for but I know there is something that stopping you for accepting your feelings. You just need to listen to your heart. At least for once."

A knock on the door interrupted their conversation. Kamlesh stood at the doorway, "Can I have a word with you, Anuradha?"

"You don't have to ask dad. Come in"

The room was quiet Anuradha patiently waited for Kamlesh to talk, she noticed him glancing over his shoulder where Shika was and understood Shika's presence was disturbing him.

"Dad, I know you are not here to talk business and Shika is not going to go anywhere" Anuradha made herself clear to her father. She might not have shared anything to Shika before but Anuradha intends not to hide anything from her friend especially when they are thinking and caring for her.

"Alright then, I have a proposal for you..." Anuradha was about to talk but Kamlesh stopped her, "ah... let me finish with what I want to say. Just once, meet the boy and I will only proceed with this proposal if you say yes to him. Just once."

Coaxing Anuradha had always been a difficult task ever since the family broke apart. It wasn't this hard when everything was fine before. This would be the fourth proposal Kamlesh is bring for Anuradha and this time he does not want to hear a 'no' from her.

"Dad, didn't I tell you not bring any proposal the last time"

"Anuradha, I just want you to live your life like any normal girl would be. Just look at you, working around the clock, the only place you go in a day is office and back home, you hardly have friends who bring you out. You work like a machine Anuradha! You are living a robotic life" a worried Kamlesh blurted his distress for Anuradha.

He may not have cared for her before but the days he saw her curled in a corner of her room, refuse intake of food, interaction and in extreme depressed situation made him worried. Kamlesh had even spoke to Anuradha, blaming himself for her situation yet she cared least about it. Thankfully Cameron and Christopher was there.

"Why don't you explain to her?" Kamlesh turned to Shika, as she nodded with a tight smile.

"Anu, you can just give a try. Meet the guy and hear what your heart says" Shika said with the hope this meet up might enlighten Anuradha her true feelings for Manohar.

*-*-*-*

Cameron as usual took his position on the bed while Manoj and Karthik were in deep discussion about the latter's feeling for Anuradha.

"You know you are a bullheaded, you don't want to listen to anyone and keep repeating the same thing." Manoj yelled out of frustration at Manohar who kept denying about his feelings.

Manoj couldn't take it anymore, Manohar's denial is only making him go crazy.

Manoj looked at Cameron helplessly as he knew Cameron isn't going to open his damn mouth until he gets a proper bait for Manohar to swallow in the truth. 'Looks like there is still time for Cam to open his mouth' Manoj thought as he sat on the edge of the bed.

"I'm just gonna agree that I'm a bullheaded person" Manohar said hitting his forehead with his brand new flute. "Am I that dumb that I can't understand my feelings but others do. No there's nothing like what they say" he thought.

'Try one more time' Cameron crawled on the bed to Manoj and whispered.

Scowling at Cameron, Manoj took a deep breath, "Listen my dear friend..."

"Are you writing a letter, come straight to the point again" Cameron whispered again. Letter. The word letter sparked a brilliant point for Manoj to put forward this time.

"Okay, okay. Listen Karthik, let's talk practical now. Three years ago when we were in college, Anuradha was there right? You even wrote a song and composed it keeping her in mind, didn't you?

And then you lost all your charm in music, none worked out because she wasn't there with you. Yesterday, just yesterday you saw her and what a beautiful composition from you!" Manoj knew this time he had pulled the right string thanks to Cameron for that.

Karthik was lost deep in thought contemplating Manoj's words.

'It's true, Manoj is right. Radha has been the sole reason for his composition. And it was those song he composed keeping her in mind that was liked by many. Does that mean...."

"When Radha was there, your music sense flourished like anything, I still remember those small composition bits that you did for the jingles session. And when she wasn't there, your music went lifeless. Now, she is here, present in front of you. Do you realise what's happening, Karthik?" This time it was Cameron who spoke, tuning Karthik Manohar to see what they saw.

Manohar fixed his gaze on the floor as his friends kept talking. 'Those brown orbs. Yes. The eyes. Her eyes have been the water to my soul. The tunes... those tunes were responding to her'

Manoj and Cameron gave a victorious smile to each other.
