Halloween is about a month away – who's up for some sci-fi scare?

It's been a while since our last contest, and we want to come back to you with a Halloween Anthology. We are bringing in a guest judge @takatsu for this particular collection and our theme for this is Zombie Apocalypse.

Is it a mutated virus? Or an alien taking over our body? Will it be a blood bath or slow annihilation? The choice is up to you. What we ask is a 500 words story about a zombie apocalypse outbreak that happens on Halloween.
