[12] Breakfast With The Family
The Wayne Manor was much more crowded than usual as after Tim and Dora's wedding most of the Batfamily had chosen to stay at their family home. Even the Kents or rather the Superfamily had stayed at the Manor.
So breakfast that morning was set in the large dining hall and Alfred had made an assortment of dishes in honor of all the people there.
Tim and Dora had arrived in time too and were greeted by a collective good morning as they stepped inside the dining hall. Dora looked radiant in the yellow floral dress she wore and Tim too had a bright smile lighting up his features.
He was soon tackled into a hug by his best friend Connor, a laugh resonating from him as Connor asked him how he felt after marriage.
On the other hand, Mona had approached them too, hugging Dora and then pushed Connor away from her father so that she could give him a hug too.
"Wait what? You're gonna leave your years old best friend to hug a child?" Connor remarked, eyes narrowing as he saw Mona look at him triumphantly.
"Oh come on, Connie, you're getting jealous of a seven year old now? Did not see that coming," Tim chuckled, lifting Mona up in his arms as the girl had refused to let go of him.
"Expect the unexpected from our Drama Kong," Jon piped up, causing all of them to laugh.
"You say that one more time Jonathan and you're no longer a brother of mine..."
Dora looked at the familiar faces along with the rest of the people she had met for the first time at the wedding.
"Hi," she smiled politely, taking her seat beside Steph, "it's nice to meet all of you."
"The introductions are due," Connor smiled, sitting down as well and Tim and Mona did the same. "We figured it would be better to reintroduce all of us because at the wedding with all the ruckus the press was creating, you must have gotten us mixed up."
She nodded, smile widening, "yeah, that would be great. I really got all of you mixed up."
"Okay, I'll go first," Connor was as usual quite enthusiastic, "I am Connor Kent, your husband's childhood best friend..."
Though Tim cut him off, "he's lying. He doesn't know me since childhood since he didn't even have one."
"Hey..." Connor glared at Tim, "zip it, you got all your limelight yesterday, it's my turn now." Turning back to Dora he resumed, "anyhow, I am unfortunately Tim's best friend. These are Clark and Lois Kent, my parents and also best parents on the planet ever."
Dora smiled, nodding at them in acknowledgement. Clark and Lois definitely looked very kind and caring.
"And this is Jonathan, my annoying little brother and the demon Wayne's best friend."
"Shut up, Kent," Damian mumbled, deciding not to throw anything at him because there were too many people in the dining hall and if Connor dodged, anyone else could get hit mistakenly.
"Hi, nice to meet you," Jon smiled, blue eyes twinkling.
"I can give my own introduction, Connor, thank you," a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes spoke up, "I am Kara Danvers. Clark's cousin."
"Mon-El, this wonderful amazing woman's lucky fiancé," the man sitting beside Kara spoke up.
Connor looked at Dora, a mischievous smile on his face, "yeah Mon-El, otherwise known as Mon-ster."
"Connor, behave," Clark cleared his throat slightly and Connor sighed, the smirk wiping off his face.
"Katherine Kane," a woman with burgundy red hair and green eyes spoke up, "but everyone calls me Kate."
"Nice to meet you, Kate," she smiled, recalling all the new names she had been old so that she would not get them mixed up again.
"Elizabeth Kane but Betty to you," the girl beside Kate winked with a cheeky grin.
"Duke Thomas," the boy next in line spoke up as they had started to introduce themselves in the order of how they were seated.
Dora had heard about Duke from Tim and Steph a lot, "oh so you're Duke."
"I hope these guys didn't ramble too much about me," he smiled.
"Oh not at all, I have heard all good," she replied in a reassuring tone.
"That's a relief."
With the introductions being done, breakfast was served and all of them got treated to Alfred's heavenly cooking. A rather cheerful atmosphere engulfed the Manor as they were all together and happy after so long.
Cassandra and Betty seemed rather close, Dora noticed, and when she turned towards Tim as if to say something, he smiled for he had noticed her gaze.
"Later," he mumbled and that meant Dora's little guess regarding the two had been right.
"Mumma, I am allowed to go home with you two now, aren't I?" Mona spoke up and Dora looked at her fondly.
"Of course, dear. But we are spending the whole day here with our family," she replied and Tim's smile widened to hear that.
"Our family? Sounds very nice," he whispered but she heard him, her smile widening as well.
"Now if you two have stopped being all lovey dovey," Steph came up to them as breakfast had ended, "then me and the girls are going to steal Dora away. We have a lot of catching up to do."
"Wait, what catching up?" Tim spoke up, "you guys were literally with her the day before yesterday."
"Yeah, but she should spend time with Kate and Betty too, right?" Her green eyes sparked, "as for you, Connor would have no problem in keeping you company."
Tim's face fell ever so slightly but Luke joined them, "and I will keep you company too, if you like. We were planning to set up a basketball match."
However, seeing Steph and Luke there, Tim got reminded of the welcome the floor mop had given him and he stopped them, "wait a second... How dare you guys set up the floor mop at the entrance? Do yo have any idea how..."
But he didn't complete the sentence because he didn't want the rest of the clan to find out about his fear of floor mops.
Dora was laughing by then and so was Steph so Luke spoke up, "it was your wingman, Tim, it deserved to give a warm welcome."
"Warm welcome? You're losing at basketball today, Lucas," Tim threatened, blue eyes sparking a bit, "I bet you will then deserve a warm welcome too."
"Oh am I?" Luke looked over at Connor playfully, "sure. You and Connor are teaming up. I'll pick Jon."
"No!"
Everyone knew Jon was better at basketball as compared to Connor and since Luke was already good at the game, the two could easily win.
"Jonathan, you're my team mate," Tim spoke up, blue eyes set in a request.
Jon hid a smile, "sorry Timmy, I got taken."
Connor, on the other hand, had flung his arm over Tim's shoulders, "aren't you being a real good friend today? Rejecting me each chance you get?"
As they had been busy in their argument, Steph had sneaked Dora out and Tim turned in alarm to see none of the girls were there in the dining hall.
"Where did they go?"
"You're lucky then went away or they would have seen you lose awfully," Jon winked, patting Luke's back as the two walked out to the garden.
Tim looked at the sight in slight surprise, "wait, Jon befriended Luke?"
"More of the other way round," Connor remarked, "Luke is a great guy and we all like him."
His cerulean blue eyes flickered towards Damian who was busy on his phone, "and Dames allowed his best friend to get stolen away, just like that?"
Connor chuckled, "yeah, he's been on his phone all this time."
Duke had joined them as well, "maybe if we convince Jon and Luke to play in teams of three, I could join you guys. We will even them out."
"Damian does not suck at basketball either," Tim judged, "they already have a good team."
"Yeah but Damian has something or rather someone else on his mind. He will be distracted," Duke mumbled, a knowing look in his brown eyes, "I am saying that for your own good. Let's talk to Jon and Luke."
Damian must have realized he was being mentioned as he looked up, "what did you just say, Thomas?"
Duke smiled innocently, "nothing whatsoever. We'll ask you to join us in basketball if Jon and Luke agree to play in threes."
He nodded, reverting his gaze back towards the phone, "I will be in Jonathan's team then."
"We know."
