Epilogue
It was a Saturday Mona was surprised to see the time on the clock. It was seven in the morning when Dora woke her up even though she didn't have to go to school.
"Mumma, isn't it a Saturday today?" She sat up, rubbing her eyes lightly.
"Yup," Dora replied, "but we have to leave for Star City after breakfast so you should hurry up."
"Star City...?"
The girl still seemed half asleep so Dora fetched out an outfit for her then asked her to get freshened up, "we're going to Uncle Jay's place. Now please Mona, hurry up. Everyone's waiting downstairs.
When Mona came done, she found the entire family there having breakfast. The table was set by all early stock of breakfast items from Dora's Coffee Haunt which indicated that Alex had delivered the food just a short while ago.
"Why are we going to Uncle Jay's place?" Mona asked as she took her seat beside Tim who handed her a plate and filled her cup with chocolate milk.
"Because we have got to meet your little cousin. Jason had the audacity not to inform us yesterday but Steph let the cat out of the bag and now we're all going to Star City."
"Oh..."
However, it was clear that not much had registered in her mind just yet as she focused on having breakfast first. After she was done and her senses had started to wake from the half-asleep state, she realized what was going on.
"So you mean to say that I have another cousin now?"
Barbara laughed, "yeah, that's the cheerful little Mona we know. Finally recovered from her sleepiness."
Her eyes had lit up as a smile played upon her lips, "and he or she is going to be younger than me? Cool."
"Don't be so happy," Damian remarked, "finding that the youngest child privileges are stolen from you isn't a good feeling."
Her eyes sparkled in mischief, "speaking from experience?"
"Shut up."
It was always hilarious to see Mona and Damian bicker with one another. Despite the huge age gap between them as Dami was eleven years older than her, they treated one another as if they were both the same age which was quite fun to see at times.
"Come on guys, hurry up," Richard looked at the text on his phone, "Bruce has boarded the flight from Metropolis and he'll be joining us there. All the rest of you, go fit yourselves in the cars."
Since Star City wasn't very far off from Gotham, the Wayne boys had decided to drive all the way there. And it would indeed be a fun trip since it was seldom all of them got to travel like that.
Tim had gone to the garage to check that his car was fit to travel, a habit of his ever since Jay pranked on him by messing up the knobs and making the engine break down. But then he realized that there was no need to worry about that happening since Jay was in Star City and none of the other family members would do such a thing to him.
Dora quickly cleaned up the kitchen and packed up the remaining cupcakes and cookies to be used as a travel snack, then joined Tim and Mona outside.
Tim locked up the house as the others had left and were all getting into their cars and shortly after, they were off to Star City.

"How dare you name your kid before we could even see him?"
Richard was beside himself with disappointment when he learned that Jason and Rose had named their baby boy Lysander. He had made a list of both girl and boy names for them to select from but it turned out that Jay wasn't keen to let anyone else name his kid.
"Dickie, have you even seen this list?" Jay handed him back the paper, "half of these names sound like terrible puns."
"Says the guy who was going to name his son Puck," Rose remarked offhandedly and that ensued quite a lot of shocked gasps from the Waynes.
Jason's face matched the fading red of his hair, "not fair, Rose, not fair."
"Puck Todd... That's horrible," Steph winced, "good thing you didn't let him do that, Rose."
Lucas agreed, turning to face his sister, "you just saved Ly from an eternity of bullying."
Jason had to speak up at that, "no one will be able to bully my son. I am going to make sure of that."
"For the hundredth time, Jay, you are not teaching our son to be violent," Rose was shaking her head slightly as they had already had that conversation the previous night too but Jay was stubbornly fixated on his point.
"That's not violence but self-defense, you can't change my mind."
"Oh I can totally picture it, little Ly is going to be feared for having a crime lord father and a swordfighter mother," Barbara remarked.
On the other hand, Mona was looking at Lysander with utter fascination since she had never before seen newborn babies. He had a clump of silvery hair identical to Rose and his wide eyes had the ocean blue color that Jay had before being rejuvenated by the Pit.
"Mumma, he looks like Jack Frost," Mona spoke up.
"That he does," Dora laughed, "like a very tiny Jack Frost."
"I am going to call him Jack Frost from now onwards," she announced and Lucas reached forward to ruffle her head affectionately.
"Good to see my niece is following in my footsteps," he remarked because true enough, he also had a habit of associating nicknames from cartoons and movies to people he was close to.
They spent the day at Jay and Rose's apartment and all of them enjoyed being in each other's company like that since it happened very rarely. For that short time, there was no pressure of them being required to put up with all the chaos Gotham dealt them with and they were all together as a happy family.
A very dysfunctional family, according to Damian, but happy nevertheless.
It was late evening when they decided to return to Gotham and bid Jay and Rose farewell. Steph had a semester break so she and Luke were staying over with Jay and Rose.
Tim, Dora and Mona also had to leave though Mona didn't want to as she had gotten very fond of Lysander in such a short time. However, they persuaded her by saying that Jay and Rose would come to Gotham with Ly very soon.
Mona was feeling sleepy so she had asked Dora to sit in the back seat with her and she had agreed. Tim was driving and as the traffic wasn't too much on the highway they reached Gotham in less time than usual.
The traffic lights turned red as they took the turn for Central Gotham, the car came to a halt and Tim glanced back. Dora seemed lost in thought so he asked, "what are you thinking?"
Her eyes connected with his and a lovely smile played upon her lips. It was evident that whatever had been on her mind seconds earlier was something that made her feel happy.
"We make a perfect family, I'm glad we stayed with each other," Dora remarked, running her fingers through Mona's hair softly as the girl had fallen asleep with her head in her lap.
Tim nodded, a smile taking over his features too as he replied, "I love you both from the depths of my heart."
