xvii- the burrow

REMUS WAS WHISTLING as he entered the Defence Against the Dark Arts class, knowing that class wasn't going to start for two hours. He just wanted to come early get some papers into order. What he didn't know was that Jessica Black was hiding behing the door.

I know what questions you all have, why was Jessica hiding behind the door like a creep, instead of going up to Remus and telling him that she was going to the burrow tomorrow like a normal person? That is a very good question. Because Jessica is the daughter of two of the infamous Maraudeds, also the CEOs of overreacting and drama. That's the reason.

Remus nearly jumped out of skin as he spotted the girl hiding behind the door, "Jessica," he hissed, "what are you doing here, hiding like that? Class doesn't start for two hours."

"Oh, I just wanted to tell you something." Jessica said.

"What?" Remus asked.

"I'm going to the Burrow for Christmas." Jessica said.

Remus' body stiffened and he said sharply, "Why?"

"What do you mean? They are my friends, I want to spend a Christmas with them." Jessica said.

"But they're boys!" Remus cried.

"Remus! First of all, I'm becoming of age next month, and secondly, they are just my friends." Jessica said.

"Yeah right," Remus rolled his eyes, "just friends. That's what Rose said to Sirius, but look what happened," he pointed to Jessica.

"Shut up, Remus. I've been friends with them for too long, it's not going to happen." Jessica said.

"Rose and Sirius were friends for —"

"Shut up, Remus." Jessica rolled her eyes, "Come on, it's not like I'm going to sleep with them in their bed."

Remus' face paled, and Jessica threw a pen at him, "I said it's not like that! I'm going Remus, whether you like it or not!"

"Honestly, of course you are, Sirius is your real dad, and he'll probably say you can go." Remus said.

"Oh don't you dare try to emotionally black-mail me, Remus Lupin!"

Ginny and Jessica had to plan things out. They wanted to surprise the twins once they were inside the house, and that meant that they had to keep them away from her in the train too. So Jessica had to awkwardly sit with Ginny and her friends.

"Hello, you're Jessica Black." said a blonde girl. It was more of a statement than a question, so Jessica didn't really know what to say, "don't worry, I won't whisper and stare at you like most people do. I know how it feels like."

"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Jessica asked the girl.

"Luna Lovegood, I'm the daughter of the editor of the Quibbler, Xenophilius Lovegood."

Jessica understood why Luna might be unpopular. The Quibbler had all sorts of nonsense including strange creatures like Crumple horned snorkacks and what more that might not even exist. Luna believed all that her dad said, and promoted it too. The students of Hogwarts were not very accepting towards Luna's unique personality.

"Alright, so you've already met Luna then, and you know Eleanor. This is Elise Watson, she's a fellow Gryffindor."

"Hey," Eilise said in a bored voice.

The train ride was awkward at most, but when they got off the train, things got difficult. They had to fit Jessica the car without Fred and George seeing. And how did they do that? Jessica cast a disillusionment charm on herself, and sat literally next to the twins.

The burrow was different than Jessica had envisioned.

Ginny had warned Jessica many times that the burrow might just be one of the most minimalistic, simple and plain houses in all of the Wizarding World. Jessica just waved it off, it wasn't like she and Remus were living in a high class mansion.

The burrow was beautiful in it's own special way. It's simplicity had it's own beauty, and it had a warm cozy atmosphere. Jessica had been there for two minutes, and she already felt at ease here. It was comforting and welcoming.

Once Fred and George raced upstairs, Jessica took off the charm, and greeted the family. Bill was pleased to see her as usual. Bill and Jessica had formed a sort of bond since the moment they met, which was weird considering they didn't know each other that well.

"Hey, there! Honestly, you seem to be getting more and more beautiful every time I see you. I'm surprised Fred and George haven't started hitting on you yet." Bill chuckled.

Jessica laughed, "Come on, Bill, I told you it's not like that. Anyway, you're still rocking the long haired pillock look!"

Bill growled, "don't remind me. Gosh, I hate that woman."

A few years ago, Bill had given an interview to Rita Skeeter for the daily prophet, regarding his job, which was curse breaking for Gringotts. Rita had described Bill as a "long haired pillock" in front of millions of wizards and witches and had published it in the Daily Prophet.

Jessica was a few of the people who went along with Percy rather well. Even though they went along, Jessica admitted that she had never met anyone as lame and boring as him. She never told him though.

"Hello, Jessica. How are your O.W.Ls going?" Percy asked.

Though they still went to school together, Percy was in his last year and was a Head Boy. He said he didn't have enough time to talk to anyone, so they rarely ever talked regarding anything other than studies.

"Good, it's pretty challenging, but it's going good." Jessica said, "And how are your N.E.W.Ts going?"

"Good, as usual." Percy said.

Mr. Weasley was rather excited to meet the girl. He kept asking her muggle related things, because he thought she would know everything, since she was best friends with a muggle born.

"Aiden Blake? But Fred and George are friends with him too." Jessica said, "and Ron's friends with Hermione Granger."

"They don't tell me much." Mr. Weasley shrugged.

Mrs. Weasley, however was the most interesting one. She was a jolly looking, kind, plump woman who warmly welcomed Jessica.

"I've honestly told Fred and George to invite you over a million times. Goodness know, why they won't. But all's good now, that you're Ginny's friend!"

"Yeah, of course." Ginny coughed, "but she will spend time with the twins too, of course. They're her friends too."

"Oh, yes. But are they friends or —" Mrs. Weasley began.

"Alright mom! I'm taking her upstairs!" Ginny said loudly, and Bill snickered behind her.

As Ginny and Jessica were going upstairs, a loud bang caused them to nearly trample over each other. It was no surprise when they found out that the bang had come from Fred and George's room.

"Well then, I'll leave you to it." Ginny laughed, and left Jessica alone to approach the lion's den.

Jessica mentally braced herself and raised her fist to knock on the door. Then she thought better of it, what the heck? she should just barge in.

One thing is clear. The sight in front of her, was not one that she had anticipated to see, in the room.
